  1. Awesome--thanks so much for the recommendations! Will give it a try and post my results!
  2. From what I've read previously, those pillar pieces are held in place by plastic clips that are not designed to be removable. The technical instruction from Ford is that if the pillars must be removed for any work, the clips will be broken and a brand new pillar piece must be installed each time... That said, I believe that others in this forum have said before if they were very careful they were able to remove the pillars without breaking the clip, although unfortunately in your case it sounds like the clip(s) may already be broken... If whatever work you had done was from a mechanic, you may be able to get them to replace the part; otherwise, you may just have to do it yourself unless someone knows of another way to secure those parts...
  3. Thanks for the response--I will give that a try! My primary concern is that the cleaning looks uniform in the end since the part is a continuous piece around the doorframe, so any splotches would be really noticeable. Here are some photos showing the exact spot in question.
  4. I'm surprised--this is the only post I can find here on this topic, but I've had this same question for the entire ownership I've had of my vehicle since 2009. Unfortunately the stickiness has never gone away and has slowly become dirtier (and hairier ?) over the years... It seems like they purposely used this material since it's the same on each door around the vehicle, but it's basically impossible to clean... If anyone has any tips for cleaning or treating the stickiness in these areas, I'd really appreciate it!
  5. Yes. The official Fusion website shows a six button model, the brochure shows a bi-directional model, but the actual factory-installed model is a single button, single feature fob. However, the bi-directional model can be installed as an accessory by the dealer, but at a much higher price.
  6. Those must be the "all-weather" floormats. The ones I am speaking of are called "Premium Floormats" and are available directly from the factory at the time of order. The normal ones are carpeted and have no design on them. The "Premium mats" have the word "Fusion" written on them, but in my car, only the drivers has the logo; the others are plain.
  7. Okay, I guess that two keys may just be the standard these days.
  8. Yea, the accessory site is very buggy and only really works in Internet Explorer, although I have gotten it to work with Google Chrome. The prices from Ford seem much better than those from the dealer, so if it actually works, I would highly recommend this method. Like you said, try to find a dealer in your area that says "Order Online" so you don't have to deal directly with the dealer for payment.
  9. Yea, I can't say that I'm really happy with this dealer, but he did give me the best price. I don't want to fail him on the survey and make him never want to deal with bargain-hunters again, but at the same time, he wasn't all "5 stars" either. I guess I'll see when I finally get the survey from Ford.
  10. Well, I tried and failed. The dealer claimed complete ignorance and said that mine was the first car he had ever got remote start for and he didn't know how it worked. As well, he said that their dealership really wasn't an accessory installation dealership and that they only have one guy that can install stuff like that. He claimed to have talked to the person that would install it, but I don't think he really did. I explained why the bidirectional model was important to me, but he didn't see what the difference was. When I finally picked up the vehicle, he went on and on about how it would have been $1000 more for the bidirectional model. I just gave up... Oh well... The good news is that the one button remote start fob is actually quite small. From the pictures, I thought that it was about the size of the old Ford keyless entry fobs, but the remote start fobs are thin and about half that size. I would say maybe 1'' by 0.5'' and only about 0.25'' thick, if that.
  11. If you are considering sill plates, I definitely recommend purchasing them through the aforementioned ford accessory website. I was able to get them for about $250, parts and labor, all paid online. I tried to get them installed by the dealer I purchased the car from, but he wanted $250 for the parts and $190 for labor--almost twice as much!! At least if you buy it straight from Ford, they won't try to screw you...
  12. I just finally received my new factory-ordered FFH after exactly a two month waiting period. Woohoo!! I just have a few questions... 1.) I ordered the "premium floormats" from the factory, which was $50 more expensive. On the Ford website, they show the floormats that say "Fusion" on both the driver's and passenger's side; however, when I took delivery, only the driver's mat has the logo. Has anyone else ordered it this way? If so, did you get two "Fusion" mats or one? 2.) When I took delivery, the dealer gave me two keys for the car and I had a third cut (a flip key). I know that in the past, most vehicles came with a third "valet key" that lacks the remote entry module and only opens the doors and starts the engine. Did anyone receive this third key when they took delivery or is two the standard number these days? Thanks for your help--I hope to post some pictures soon!
  13. Thanks, I'll send him an e-mail and see if I can get a replacement screw.
  14. My flip key (same design / model) seems to only have one screw. On the other side, there is just an empty hole. Should there be a screw on both sides?
