  1. I have traded in my 2012 Fusion Sport and have the four OEM all-weather rubber floor mats still in their original packaging. Anyone in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area wish them? I think $25 would be a fair price. They are black and should fit all pre-2013 Fusions but not the 2013+.

  3. I too have found that financing a used car is usually worth a couple of hundred dollars in the price. Just assure that the contract states that there is no prepayment penalty. I have owned two Sports and love them. They have been trouble free. The other models use a different transmission which can be problematic. The one complaint that I have with the Sport is that the air conditioning takes too long to cool down. However, I do live in Phoenix! The 2010 had the microphone next to the mirror. That worked better than the 2012 which has it over/behind the driver's head.

    I had the same thing on my 2010. If you are still within the 3/36 warrantee, take it in to the dealer. It was covered on my car.
  5. Check a Carfax to see if the suspension and oil pan issues are the result of a front end collision.
  6. +1 on the X plan. Check with your HR department to see if you qualify. Just don't let the dealer tell you "he can do better" without comparing the final numbers including doc fee, etc.
  7. I liked my red 2010 FWD Sport so much I traded it on a silver 2012 AWD Sport once the 2010 exceeded 60K miles. At 30K+ miles the 2012 has proven just as reliable and trouble free. However, it is not quite as quick and it gets 2-3mpg less mileage. I guess that is the price you pay to eliminate torque steer and front tire breakaway.
  8. This appears to be a reason to not purchase (or lease) another Ford product when my lease expires. My wife just purchased a Mercedes E-class and the phone is crystal clear. I just can't believe that Ford would continue this problem into its new Fusion design. Oh well, there are many other brands of cars available.
  9. My 2010 Sport had the microphone at the rear view mirror. The sound was very clean. My 2012 Sport has the microphone over/behind my head on the ceiling. It is virtually unusable due to road noise. The dealer has added more insulation, reprogramed the unit and it is not much better. This is a design flaw and the primary reason that I will not be purchasing the car when the lease expires (nor will I purchase/lease another Ford). My wife's Mercedes has the microphone at the rear view mirror and the sound on her car is very clear. Whatever possessed Ford to mess with a proven design I will never understand (nor will I try).

I traded my 2010 Sport FWD for a 2012 Sport AWD because I had such good luck with the first one (traded at 60K+ miles) and liked: the performance, the non-electric steering, the low maintenance costs, the reliability, and the gas mileage (on regular gas). I now have 23K miles on the 2012 and it has been just as trouble free (but gets about 2mpg less due to the AWD). Based upon my experience, I would highly recommend a Sport as a used car.
  11. I traded my 2010 FWD Sport in at 60K miles and the tires looked like they were 60% worn. I think the trick is keeping them properly inflated (checked/adjusted every Saturday morning). My driving is a combination of highway and city driving (60/40). I now have 26K on my 2012 AWD Sport and the tires look like they are almost new. I would not anticipate having to replace them before my lease is up in September 2015.
  12. I'm sure there are people who like the softer suspension of the SE and SEL as well. I, for one, prefer performance and found the electric steering too light with insufficient road feel.
  13. I have had two Sports and they were trouble free. I traded the first one at 65K miles and have 25K on the new one.The FWD 2010 averaged about 25-26mpg on my daily commute (combination of highway and stop-and-go) and 28-29mpg on longer trips. The 2012 AWD averages about 2-3mpg less. They run just fine on regular gas. I tried a couple of tanks of premium in my 2010 and noticed no difference in mileage or performance. As I had no repairs (excluding a broken interior door handle - a known issue), I cannot speak to the cost of parts. Since the 3.5 liter V-6 and the transmission used in the Sport are the same ones that were used in the Lincoln, I would doubt that there would be any issue with parts availability even though the Sports are quite rare (less than 8% of all Fusions were Sports based upon my research). What initially sold me on the Sport was the.handling and the rack and pinion steering (I didn't like the feel of the electric steering on the other Fusion models). When the design changed for 2013, I found the last new Sport in the Phoenix area and leased it. Any car that is fun to drive, reliable, and offers good gas mileage is a "keeper" and I didn't want to risk "first edition" issues with a new body design and drivetrain. I think a Sport would make an excellent used car. I know my 2010 sold even before the dealer had a chance to detail it. I wouldn't be surprised if one of the Ford dealer's employees didn't purchase it.
  14. I have owned two Fusion Sports and have been very happy with them. I traded my 2010 for a 2012 when the 2010 hit 60K miles. The 2010 was FWD and averaged 24-26mpg on my daily commute to work and 28mpg on trips. The 2012 is AWD and averages 22-23mpg on the same commute and 25-26mpg on trips. The "trips" are primarily Phoenix to/from Las Vegas so they are 2-4 lane non-limited access roads with passing zones, small towns, etc. I assume both cars would get a bit better mileage on limited access roads with a constant speed. Both cars have been virtually trouble free, The 2010 had a an interior door handle break (common event I understand) and the spring on the gas filler door came off. Other than these, the car only required typical maintenance (oil changes, etc.). The 2012 has required no repairs in its first 21K miles. I have rented several 4 cylinder Fusions and find the Sport model much quieter as the engine and transmission don't have to work as hard in the Sport. The Sport also has a sportier suspension and power rack-and-pinion steering (the S, SEL, etc. have electric power steering) which gives the car a sportier, more secure, driving "feel". Based upon my experience, I think the Fusion Sport would make a great used car.
  15. I owned my 2012 Sport FWD for 60K+ miles and the OEM tires were 2/3 worn (at most) when I traded it. I now have 16K on my 2012 Sport AWD and the tires are showing only a little edge wear but otherwise look brand new. Therefore, as you can see, I am easy on tires. I have put two sets of P-zero Nero's on my wife's Volvo V70R. In each case she only got 16-20K miles on them (about the same as the OEM tire - P-zero Rosso if I recall correctly). However, both were quiet and quite sticky. She now has Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus tires with 10K miles and they are about 1/3-1/2 worn. The Michelins ride a bit harder and are a bit noisier and I don't think the grip is quite as sticky as the P-zero's. However, it looks like they will have a bit longer tread wear. Just one person's experience.
  16. I traded my 2010 Sport for single-payment 2012 Sport AWD lease. That way, I have no payments. The 2010 was financed at zero interest from Ford and paid off. It was a simple transaction. You can also use your trade-in to pay-down the lease to reduce your monthly payment if the trade-in value won't cover the entire lease payment (which is most likely the case with a 2006). My advice is to visit several dealers as I found their trade-in valuations were very different.
  17. Commuting to/from work I average 22mpg with my AWD Sport. Doing the same commute, my FWD Sport averaged about 24.5 mpg. This is about 50/50 highway and stop and go.
  18. Check kbb.com for trade in and resale values. This is a "Dealer oriented" site so the trade in value should be considered a "floor' and the "dealer resale price" a ceiling. Also, look on cars.com to see what both cars are selling for in your geography. Remember the dealer is going to want to make $2-3K on the deal, so don't get discourage by the first offer.
  19. Thank you. I purchased my 2010 Sport in September 2009 so the microphone would have been in the mirror. I wonder if the microphone could be relocated back to the mirror. This is my business car and the current situation is not conducive to using the hands-free phone nor Sync - one of the primary reasons I purchased a second Ford (previously, I had only purchased/leased imports going back to 1986 when I purchased my last domestic car). If anyone finds a solution, please let the rest of us know.
  20. My 2010 Sport was crystal clear. My 2012 Sport exhibits the same "wind noise" any time the car is moving (and yes the windows are up and the blower fan on low). Did they move the microphone between 2010 and 2012?

My 2012 Sport's microphone is causing so much static (sounds like wind noise but the windows are closed and the blower is turned down) that people have trouble listening to me on the hands free phone (and Sync often cannot understand my commands). I did not have this issue with my 2010 Sport with the same iPhone. I do not hear any static when listening so I believe the issue to be the microphone. Any suggestions? Where is the microphone located?
  22. Why not buy a few shares of Ford stock? It pays a good dividend and ownership qualifies you to purchase using the X-plan. With the X-plan you don't have to negotiate. The pricing is set by Ford Corporate. You just choose the dealership you wish to buy from.
  23. I have learned with both my Fusions (2010 Sport FWD and 2012 Sport AWD) that these cars' gas mileage is VERY dependent upon tire pressure. I commute 76 miles each day (combination of highway and low speed) and once a month to Las Vegas and back and have noted the sensitivity of the car's mileage mainly on longer highway trips. Therefore, I check/adjust the tire pressure weekly. This is most important when the weather changes as tire pressure drops when the temperatures drop. Lower tire pressure increases rolling resistance. Get into the habit of checking/adjusting every Saturday morning before you go anywhere and I will bet that you see your mileage improve. There is a side benefit: I sold the 2010 with 62K miles and the OEM tires were only half worn!
  24. I concur. I traded my 2010 Sport with 62K miles and the brakes had never required new pads.
