Occasionally I see reference to failed wheel bearings. I'm 82 years old and never had to have a wheel bearing replaced! In a different era the bearings had to be repacked and adjusted properly. These days, the bearings should out last the vehicle??

Rear Brakes worn out after 18,000 miles!!
Bob B. replied to Hanellen02's topic in Brakes, Chassis & Suspension
Tim, Dragging? With the car jacked up, if you spin the wheel by hand, I think that it's normal to hear the brake pad lightly touch the rotor. Please, someone correct me if I'm wrong. Bob. -
Rear Brakes worn out after 18,000 miles!!
Bob B. replied to Hanellen02's topic in Brakes, Chassis & Suspension
2010 SEL Fusion......At 60,000 Km my front brakes show very little wear and the rear brakes are worn out. The front brake pads and rotors are heavy duty compared to the rear. I understand the newer brake proportional setup which sends more braking effort to the rear wheels. In later versions of Ford cars, has there been any change to put the heavy duty components on the rear brakes? How about other manufacturers? Regards from Canada. -
2010 Fusion Axle Seal Replacements
Bob B. replied to schottj1's topic in General Powertrain Discussion
My experience with the same problem, and more. Each time I went for dealers service, I had taken the engine lower "windage tray" off to look for any transmission fluid leak. All done under warranty over a period of 8 months. 6F35 transmission. 1. Complaint. Fluid leaking from drivers side seal. Passenger side seal looks dry but a couple of drips from the casing. Repair. Drivers & passenger side seals replaced. (drivers side complete kit installed) 2. Complaint. Fluid leaking. Seal areas look dry. A couple of drips from casing. Repair. Drivers & passengers side seals replaced. 3, Complaint. Fluid leaking. Seal areas look dry. A couple of drips from casing. Repair. Replaced passenger side seal. Installed updated dip stick tube Assy. Still leaking (drips from casing) Re-sealed the casing halves, new torque converter seal, and drivers side seal. Looks obvious to me. The drivers side seal and the casing joint were leaking. In my opinion, the day time running lights are a great safety feature. Depending on the vehicle colour, sometimes the lights will get your attention before the car coming towards you can be seen. As when you are passing (overtaking) a car on a two lane road. I know that most drivers in the USA will disagree with me! -
The 6F35 transmission fluid leak has been successfully repaired. The first repair replaced the left half shaft and both axle seals. The left side was leaking. The second repair replaced both axle seals again. The third repair replaced the dip stick and tube. New style. The final repair (removed the trans) replaced the torque converter seal, trans seals and sealed the trans casing halves. Bob B. The final repair replaced both axle seals again, just because.

After some Googling, I see that the inside area between the engine and transaxle should be free from any oil. The only source of trans fluid in that area would be the torque converter or a leak at the trans shaft seal. Another question. Is there a gasket between the engine and trans that would hold back any leaks. Also, is it necessary to remove the engine in order to remove the transaxle? Thanks again. Bob B.

My Ford dealership had a problem diagnosing the source of my transmission fluid leak. Finally, they claim that the leak is between the engine and trans and that they will remove the trans to "seal up the leak." I understand that the service advisor is oversimplifying the repair procedure. Does anyone here know what might be the leak source? Thanks for any info and regards from Canada. Bob B.

Wrench Trouble Light 2010 Ford Fusion
Bob B. replied to nrhunter's topic in General Powertrain Discussion
The throttle body replacement is under a 10 year extended warranty. Customer Satisfaction Program CSP13N03. The throttle body PCM update for the limp mode function is TSB13B17. My invoice calls it a "recall." Regards from Canada.- 2 replies
