  1. By the time I leave my subdivision my 2011Equinox is putting out heat. The hybrid needs at least three times that distance with some at 55mph. I think that is unacceptable. Even letting it do it's thing it don't/won't run on battery in 10 degree weather relieablely for many miles.

  2. My cell phone holder took a small chunk out of the bottom (when centered) of the wheel. It is small but deep. I can say for certain that it is leather, as the chunk that is hanging out clearly has leathery fibers. The exterior of the wheel looks just like the pictures you are showing. My guess is that the quality of the leather is poor and that the outside "skin" is thin. This is likely corrected grain or split leather. Split leather has a synthetic outer layer applied. Both are real leather but it is disappointing that Ford would use them as they don't wear well.

Leather is most likely made like a chicken McNugget, all the leather scraps are molded into leather and then wrapped around the wheel.

  3. We will have had this Hybrid for 2 years this coming Oct. and have had the dash display reset itself for the 3rd time during this 2 year period. I haven't read anything in quite a while on this problem and wonder if Ford ever came up with a fix. Has anyone found an answer to this problem. I know it isn't much of a problem only doing it 3 times but in the back of my mind will this become a big problem and cause us to end up beside the road someday?

  4. If you can't see or hear the loud turn signal, you have problems. Tire pressure readings could be added for a price but a hand held tire gauge is cheaper.

Yes I do have a problem. I wear 2 hearing aids, but my point is my HHR I used to have and my current Equinox both have those features on cars that sticker for 3k and 10k less than the Fusion. The hybrid is supposed to be a high end model when ordered with all the toys but take away the hybrid part and it isn't even close to being high end in my humble opinion.

  5. I think the design is fine, if the right arm was straight and hid behind the hood, you'd lose about 5 inches of wiper at the top of your windshield.

"L" is the mark for the right and "T" is the mark for the left wiper.

I had my car at a car wash and the wipers started at full speed on their own during the wash. I was a little worried about it and the attendant said not to worry. Lexus' and Cadillacs come through all the time without a problem, he was right, they still work fine. Mine don't seem to be as sensitive in the real world, it has to see a lot of rain to come on automatically. On commercials on TV all it takes is a drop or two. Where should I leave them set?

No still poor design. There is no reason they couldn't have designed them to be hidden. Many cars are that way now but with people with low standards there is no reason to step up to the plate. Same reason they don't display tire pressure on dash or signal when the turn signal is still on like my cheap HHR does.

  6. The right side wiper does Not hide under the hood like the left side does. Should it be this way ( I hope not) or hidden like the left side is. I see it each time I drive wife's car and it bugs me, her on the other hand as long as it has gas and oil she don't pay attention.

  7. When my daughter's car was declared totaled, she called me to let me know what they offered her. The insurance co. said that if she objected to the offer she could submit documentation to support a counteroffer. I sent her links to KBB, Edmunds and NADA. They replied that they don't consider KBB or Edmunds valid sources but that they did consider NADA a valid source. Since the NADA value was almost $1G higher than their first offer, they matched NADA immediately, no questions asked. Makes you wonder how they came up with the original amount in the first place. I guess they automatically try to lowball you.

    YMMV.

Now I had the opposite experience with Auto Owners. When my HHR was totaled out I got on line and got quotes from the 3 biggies online, Kelly, Edmunds and NADA. My insurance came in $900 higher than the best quote from those others. It sure surprised me as I was ready to do battle.

  8. Thank you Dave. If you know, what brand of wiper blades are you using? As mentioned in my post above, I did try two of the top-recommended brands of blades but to no avail whatsoever. I have to think at this point the glass must be defective, and the reason I am concluding this is because you have mentioned you are not experiencing this issue plus I have tried two new brands of blades and done maximum cleaning. I also did talk w/ the dealer the other day and they said they would cover replacement under a the warranty, however if new blades would resolve this I would choose this solution over replacing the windshield.

    Cheers,

    Noel

I still have the orginals that came on the car. Never had a problem so I wonder if you haven't picked up something that have stuck to the blades or what. I'd just get some at Wally World name brands and give them a try. Shouldn't cost over about $10 and if they work fine, if not you can then cross the blades off your list of what would be causing your problem.

  9. Since you have tried everything on the windshield my suggestion would be to replace the wipers as they are most likely the problem. Be sure to clean windshield again before using them as ours works great without a problem.. As far as the wax from car washes, I doubt it as if so there would be millions of people all over the country complaining about that. I have had many vehicles and all have gone through car washes weekly for more than 25 years without a problem.

  10. If the yellow engine symbol was on, the green car symbol was probably not on and that's why the car didn't move. Why the green light was not on is puzzling if in fact you turned the key to start far enough and long enough. It doesn't seem to require in my experience but a very brief time in start. It takes somewhat longer for the light test to complete and the dash display to appear. If the start was not accomplished, the test completes and the dash displays put the yellow engine symbol remains on and the green car is not displayed. We'll have to watch this further.

my wife had the non start problem 3 times and finally told her next time don't touch it and let me see. She called me to the garage and there was no green light. I twisted the key to start and all was well. I showed her how she did it and each time the check engine light came on because she didn't twist it to the start spot. She hasn't had the problem since.

  11. White will be the easiest to keep clean by far. It looks great, especially in the sun and under streetlamps - almost has a glow to it.

Black will be the worst - it will show every little speck and scratch but looks great when it's clean.

Red would be somewhere in between. I'd take the red personally.

I've had both black and white cars, a number of black including the hybrid we have now and I can tell you I think it is much easier to keep the black clean. On those hot summer days driving down the freeway and when you stop take a look at the white with all the little black poka dots of tar on it. Gets real bad around the wheel wells. I'm not saying black cars don't get them too, but at least I don't see them and they can wait till I do the fall wax before winter. Someone here a few months ago was complaining about his white car. It seems the special white paint costs an arm and a leg to repair. Black matches without any trouble and doesn't fade plus after a couple of hours of waxing my white car I could barely tell the difference from when I started. When I wax the black car I know right away plus I can see where I left off on the wax job and don't have to guess like I do when we had a white car. One was enough for me. I take the black car to the auto wash weekly and drive it. Thats all.

  12. Are there two people in the car? The passenger setting is ignored when there is no one in the passenger seat. Other than that it seems to work fine for us.

    Jon

If you over ride it by manually turning on the temp for the passenger side you can set it just like if you have a passenger. Also just because you have a passenger you have to still turn it on the first time after driving without someone sitting in the seat.

  13. They all do that - or most of them anyway. They would love for you to keep changing your oil every 3K miles. Has nothing to do with mfr recommendations - they're just trying to drum up business. Ignore whatever they recommend and use your own schedule.

So true, I always just rip of their sticker and go by the display. When it gets to about 50% I check the mileage to see how far I have came and what the weather has been since last oil change. Then I make my own decision.

  14. I also cut on the passenger side of the AC, even when there is no passenger. I think it helps cool the interior down a little quicker. I also have gotten Window Tint on the (4) Side and the Back Window. It helps cut-down on the UV light, and keeps the car cooler. Maybe, try these tips! Good Luck

It is my understanding is if you don't turn on pass. side it is still on at the same temp as drivers side. Only reason to turn on pass. side is if you want a different temp then driver. I have turned mine on and set it for 70 while leaving mine on 72 which does seem to cool it a little more without the cold draft blowing out my side vents.
