using the power mirrors knod i can only move my mirrors down and in not up and out so know i have to ajust my mirrors by hand. what can the problem be?

i have a 2006 fusion and im having problems with the side mirrors. when i try to ajust them using the power mirror knob i can only move them in and down(both sides) so i pretty much have to ajust them by hand. i cant to a fuse because it wouldnt work at all. what else can the problem be?
