  1. I had the windshield on my 06 replaced this summer due to a crack. The autoglass center preferred to do it in house, and offered me a free treatment of aquapel if i did that instead of the mobile lab. They also told me the only windsheild they could get was a Ford windshield, and it is. The antenna IS in the rear window.
  2. I would likely not be interested, but that doesn't mean I don't think you shouldn't do it. My car is a family car more or less...we use it as a backup for the minivan when I don't want to drive it.
  3. Check out this link to see the new listings for all vehicles. You can compare the old rating and the new...for me, my 4cyl auto is right on the new ratings with a pretty good split between city and highway at 24.9 lifelong mpg at 6800 miles. Here is the link http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/calculatorSelectYear.jsp
  4. I had a clunking noise like you describe, but it was more muted. I was all set to have the dealer check it out at my first oil change and it went away (where did it go???). I'm at 6140 miles on my 4cyl SE and all is quiet. It's a great car...I feel like I could drive it all day.
  5. Honda and some Toyota's have had a little glowing ring around the ignition key hole for years, it would be nice if everyone would do that. I, too, find the ignition key hole hard to find, especially in the dark, and while there are many things about the Fusion that are excellent, Ford really stunk it up with the poor interior lighting in the Fusion. I'd also be in favor or putting the ignition switch on the dash. I had an Olds Intrigue and grew to really like that placement.
  6. No moonroof. My only interior light (besides the lighted visor mirrors) is the center dome light with two "bullet" lights that can be turned on seperately and illuminate the front seat. My 96 mystique not only had footwell lights but the door handles had a soft green illumination to them at night. At least the headlights and fog lights are really good.
  7. After 5000 miles my 4cyl auto is hanging around 26 overall. My driving mix is probably 65% highway 35% stop n go town. Does this sound reasonable to everyone? I guess I'm not overly thrilled about it. I only run the a/c when necessary, and I can't foresee it being much of a factor. I'm not a leadfoot, either. Are there any dealer PCM upgrades for the 4cyl like there have been for the 6cyl? Will the dealers flash your PCM if you ask? Thanks.
  8. RDS is a feature that shows the station name and also the song that's playing and the artist. It's a very minor issue, really, but according to my owners manual my car should have this feature. I've read elsewhere that I'm not the only one with this issue, and some dealers are replacing the radios, some are not. My dealer will not... but they were professional about it. The service mgr pulled up my VIN build info and it shows, remarkably, that there were infact 4 seperate radios put into an 06 Fusion. Early models received either the base single CD system, those who ordered the sport pkg received a 6 disc changer system with upper front door pillar speakers AND the RDS function, and then the Audiophile system was the third. Later year, or job order 2 models, dropped the RDS function from that mid level radio. Go figure. I can live without it, but my 01 Venture van has it, and it is a nice extra. Overall the Fusion is a great car, but after 5 months of ownership I have uncovered a couple of annoyances, like horrid interior lighting at night (but I understand late 07's will have better interior lighting.)
  9. The great Midwest has varied weather...you gotta be tough! Since that posting I have learned that the Motorcraft 5w20 synth blend is a first class oil. It tests very well and most people think it's one of the best in protection and value.
  10. RDS HELP! I hope you can help me...I have an 06 Fusion SE with the Sport Pkg which includes the Premium Sound / 6 disc system (but not the audiophile). My car was built in June 06, and does not have the RDS funtion/feature to my radio. I have read about this annoying problem elsewhere in this forum as well as other Fusion forums. My point is simply that I paid for this, I should have it. It states in the manual that both the Premium and the Audiophile radios have this. Have you experienced this problem at your dealer? My dealer is stonewalling me and telling me my radio doesn't have and isn't supposed to have this function. I hope you can help.
  11. First, thanks to ICE for serving our country. I strongly support the men and women in all of our armed services, and wish that our government would provide better support for those who serve and their families, too. Having said that, I cannot see how serving in Iraq helps to protect our country. I have never nor will I ever support the actions we have taken in Iraq. Afghanistan and Pakistan are another topic...those are areas we should be involved in. Enough said. Now, I love my Fusion. My wife loves it, and we trade off weeks that we get to drive it. We tested all of the competition before we bought the Fusion...Camry- ugh, looks like a boat and not at all the dream car I expected; Altima- nice, but noisy and cheap looking; Malibu- "here's your rental car, sir". The Fusion is nicely built with nice content for the price, and that last part is key, for the price. It's a nice balance between basics and near luxury for the dollar. I took a big gamble with it being a first year product, and Ford's track record for first year products was also cause for concern, but so far, so good, and I will sing the praises of the Fusion to all who want to listen.
  12. YES, I have an SE and my ventilation fan is loud...annoyingly so. But maybe I need to have it checked? It should be a 5 speed fan, too, not a 4 speed. The SEL's with auto fan may be quieter, anyone have that system? Anyway, I think it's loud.
  13. I saw this post on another blog, too. Here's my 10 cents worth. Work the price of the car you want before you ever let them even see your trade. So borrow a friends car to go to the dealer in if you don't have a different car than the one your are trading to take to the dealer. Always price the car you want before working a trade value...it's not deception, you're just playing fair, and be fair with your trade in value when you are figuring it out. Don't expect to buy a car from them at "wholesale" and expect to trade your car at "retail", that's not fair. I doubt many dealers will let much of their holdback go...maybe half would be realistic. Remember, there's always another customer out there who won't be as informed as you are, the dealer can make more money off of them. You've made a great choice with the Milan, and it's equipped exactly how I'd choose if I could have afforded one (I bought a Fusion SE 4cyl, which I like very, very much). Keep us posted.
  14. Yes, I read the manual even before I signed on the dotted line, so I am aware of the recommendation of 5-20 oil as well as the break in advice. I was just looking for other opinions, I thought that's what this was all about. 5-20 still seems thin (esp. with 100 degree heat), but if they say it's good, good it is. I did not realize the motorcraft OEM was a synthetic blend, however...thanks for that advice.
  15. I picked up my 06 fusion se 4cyl auto last week. It has the sport pkg and the side impact airbags and antilock brakes options. So far I love it, I racked up 400 miles last week. Two questions...how long is "break-in" and what is the recommendation for the first oil change interval? Also, I notice that Ford recommends 5-20 oil..this seems very thin for these HOT midwest summers we have. Any thoughts on using 5-30 instead, and would this void my warranty? Thanks...this is a very cool forum!
