  1. Hey all. I just got back from the Ford dealership where I got my 2006, 2.3L, 5 spd, 89K mile Fusion S serviced. They had a whole list of things they say needs work (note that I only get it serviced there because the 100K drivetrain warranty requires me to take it to a mechanic for service). They said the throttle body is dirty and needs cleaning. Anyone ever done this themselves on a 2.3. I didn't see any other threads on the topic. They also said my power steering fluid is dirty and needs to be flushed/replaced. Has anyone every done that themselves? I'm kinda wondering if they were just trying to make a boat payment and were looking for work to start a Monday off. Thanks
  2. I bought it at 62K from Hastings Ford in Greenville as a certified pre-owned. I'll have to check my records to see if they did do a full tune up. I get it serviced at Capital.
  3. I was hoping that the jack could be hooked up to the "AUX" button on the radio in the S models. Do you know if the Crutchfield PIE adapters do such a thing. It looked to me as though they "replace" the satellite radio input. I don't really care if the song title shows up on the radio or not (if so, then COOL!). I just don't want to use an FM transmitter anymore.
  4. Probably 18,000 miles ago when I purchased the car.
  5. Hey all, I have a 2006 Fusion S. Being an S, it doesn't have all of the fancy bells and whistles, and I'm cool with that. The one thing I wish it did have though is an auxiliary jack so I could listen to my ipod during my commute. Does anyone know roughly how much it would cost to install this? Is there a kit out there that I could do myself with novice electrical skills? Has anyone had Ford, or a stereo shop do this, and if so, how much did it cost? Sorry if this topic was posted already, but I couldn't find it in a search. Thanks!
  6. I have an 06 Fusion S, 2.3L, ~80K miles, 5 speed. I've noticed this winter that when I have the defrost on, and I'm waiting at a stop light, the car will be idling around 650-700RPM, then all of a sudden drop down to 400 for a few seconds, then return to normal idle speed. During the drop in idle speed it sounds like it's going to die, but it never has. It idles at something like 750 with the defrost off. This random drop in idle speed doesn't happen when the defrost is off. Is this just a quark with these cars or is this something I should have checked out while it's on the certified pre-owned warranty?
  7. I just bought a 2006 Fusion S with clothe interior. I also have a beagle named Maisie who sheds like crazy. Her hair is thin but wirery and it sticks to everything. She has also gotten "sick" in my wife's car in the past. I was wondering if anyone has used a seat cover for the back seat that works well for dogs, is somewhat custom-fit so there's not any extra fabric flapping around, is reasonably priced, and is durable. Having a choice in color wold be a plus b/c I want it to look good and match the interior as closely as possible. Thanks in advance!
  8. Hey all, Before I bought my 06 Fusion I had a 98 Ford Ranger. The forum for Rangers had sticky notes in this section that told you everything you would every really want to know about the different engine/tranny options as well as different discussion groups for each engine type. Is someone interested in making some sticky posts like that for this forum? I would like to learn more about all of the Fusion options out there but I don't want to skim countless threads on this site for it. Some links to other websites dedicated to the Fusion/Milan/MKZ would be interesting too. Thanks!
  9. Well everyone, I found a Fusion. It is a 2006 Fusion S with the 4 cylinder and 5 speed manual transmission. I don't really have any major changes I plan on making to it. I would like to take it to a body shop and have a spoiler put on it. I will also be getting a Yakima roof rack to carry my bikes with. This is a great car and I love to drive it. Here are some pics:
  10. Hello all, I am new here. I just sold my Ford Ranger a few weeks ago and I am currently in the market for a used Fusion or Milan. I live in Raleigh, NC (but I was born and raised in Iowa). I am a graduate student at NCSU. I had my Ford Ranger for 5 years but sold it when it got a bit too high in miles before it nickel and dimed me to death. Before I sold it I had to do a ton of work on the front end and 4x4 then I replaced a clutch and rear differential. That was too much $$$ for a graduate students pocket book so I sold it. My older brother has a 07 Fusion and my little brother has a 06 Milan. They both love the cars so I thought I would follow suit. I grew up in a Ford family and I am a true fan of the 3.0L that Ford puts into its small cars and Rangers. My dad still has a 96 taurus with 265K miles that has never had any issues with any major part of the car. I am willing to try the new 4 cyl engine they've been putting in the fusion/milans though. If any of you are in North Carolina and are selling a used Fusion/Milan then let me know. Once I get a car I'll post some pictures and tell everyone about it. I'll see you around. Nice forum you folks have here!
