  2. The lions share of that cost isn't parts, but labor. If you don't the time, ability or resources to do the job yourself, your options are limited. Pretty sure the gaskets, seals and fluids would not cost more than a $250+ water pump assembly. https://www.google.com/search?q=2010+fusion+sport+water+pump&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8#tbm=shop&q=2010+ford+fusion+sport+water+pump&spd=7839412231150354887
  3. I use Motorcraft 5w20 synthetic blend on my '12 sport with 31k miles. I change the oil and filter every 5k miles. The recommended do not exceed limit is 10k miles. IMO if you drive like a fugitive avoiding capture, at least change the filter every 5k miles.
  4. FYI, bought a 2012 Fusion Sport new back in June 2012. Last Wednesday it started making the water noise and the outside temp here in Nashville is 90+ today. But on this car the noise subsides shortly after reaching operating temp.
  5. I have had the car back 12 days now and still no water fall noise. Even during the 700+ mile trip to Orlando,
  6. Read post #463. Crown Ford in Nashville, TN 615-244-3615, seems to have corrected this problem on my Sport model. Since I was not there during the trouble shooting and fix, I can only relay what I was told. However, since I have gotten the car back, the local temperatures have been well within the range prior to the fix and I still have not noticed the water fall noise.
  7. This morning's temp was in the 38 to 41 range and no water flow noise during the 12 mile drive to work.
  8. Got my Fusion Sport back today, it has been in the shop since 3/9 and they left the ticket open. The ambient temp here is in the low 50's and there is no water flow noise at all. According to the service writer, the heater core was replaced and a reducer valve was installed at the heater core. This was done during the first week and apparently did not fix the problem. Afterwards a vacuum was connected to the cooling system and the front end elevated with the driver's side lower than the passenger's side. First indoor then outside for the remainder of the time. I have put 25 miles on the car today and have heard no water flow noises. The service writer informed me that I may notice an unusual smell which I did, when using the heater due to the new heater core being coated with cosmoline. Their final explanation contends that the heater core is the highest point in the cooling system loop and there is no purge valve at this highest point.
  9. As I said previously, my Sport model started making this noise in mid December when it turned colder here in Nashville and hadn't stopped yet when it went in for service 3 days ago. This noise occurred with or without the heater or air conditioner operating. Simply increasing the engine RPMs made it happen. No overheating, no leaking and the coolant level stayed within the warm and cold ranges. As the local temps have stayed above 50 degrees the noise is less noticeable.
  10. Took my Fusion Sport in yesterday and today the service dept was instructed by Ford engineers to replace the heater core with one being shipped to the dealer. Looks like they will have my car at least 2 more days.
  11. The local temp is 55 degrees and the noise is still present, just not as noticeable compared to when the temps were <40 degrees. During startup this morning no noise but it did make itself heard and increased during my 11 mile drive to work. It was quieter than it has been for the past few weeks. Mine goes back to the dealer tomorrow for more trouble shooting. Mine is a Sport model with a 10/09 build date.
  12. Has anyone had this problem completely resolved? My VIN is 3FAHP0KC2AR250076, the build date 10/09.
  13. I have a 2010 Fusion Sport purchased this past November and currently has 2300 miles on the odometer. I noticed the noise when the weather turned colder here in middle Tennessee. The car was taken to the dealership about this problem around mid December. Two other Fusions in the area have this problem and one was being taken apart at another dealership to find the cause. The car runs fine, the climate control systems works perfectly and the temperature gauge does not fluctuate. The coolant level is where it should be based on observing the reservoir/overflow tank. This water noise occurs with or without the air conditioner or heater operating. All I have to do to hear this noise is start the car. After starting the car it will make this noise initially, then simply pressing the gas pedal I hear it again. To me it's almost as if the thermostat is either defective (stuck open) or is missing, like I said my car makes this noise whenever the engine rpms increase rapidly and the noise subsides at constant engine rpms.
