Hi ddeem, I'm sorry I can't help. There is an ancient thread about this topic. I have had a dead battery in my FFH, and at first I thought the door key didn't work. But I tried several times and it did unlock the door. From that old thread, some believe it matters if you have used the key fob to lock the door before the battery died. Others hold that the mechanical lock can always be operated by the key. It seems very unlikely that Ford would screw up the door lock on just one model. -m

I'm following this thread with bated breath! I had the ABS & traction warnings and very low pedal. My car isn't in the recall group. (2010 Fusion hybrid) The regeneration is a little funny too. I drove with those warnings for several weeks. I ordered a junk yard HCU and a pressure bottle to bleed the brakes. I was going to replace the HCU & use the Forscan - OBDII to do an ABS bleed. However, before I got to it I took a little trip to Yosemite. I live in Los Angeles where we have set a new record of 192 consecutive days where Downtown L.A. recorded a high temperature of at least 70 degrees. So it was a bit of a change to get the car below freezing for a few nights. The morning after the first cold night the ABS & traction control warnings didn't come on. I've been back in L.A. for a month and the problem has not come back. If the problem does come back I'm going to get some dry ice and pack the HCU. -mort

Hi DBerry, Is this still a problem? Did you get it fixed? It sounds like this Ford recall 19S54. 2006-2010 Fusion etc. the ABS - HCU unit gets a kind of corrosion. Hi mczajka, In the hybrid, if you use a 12 volt electrical load, like the ac outlet, headlights or radio, with the key in the run position, then the high voltage battery will keep the 12 volt system at nominal voltage. When the HVB gets down low enough it will automatically start the engine and recharge to 50% soc. So yes it will use gas from time to time. If your whole load is the 150 watts that the outlet can deliver, (and the energy in the HVB between 50% and 10%, where it starts the engine, is about 500 watt-hours) you can use the outlet for a couple hours between engine starts. (you know Plug In Day is for cars that plug in to an electrical outlet, not cars that have an outlet - right?) -mort

Wow! Can you justify buying a new bicycle, let alone a new car on about 5 miles a day? (if you commute) Do the math! All you need is a pair of shoes. New shoes: about $100 a year. Lease on new car: about $2400 per year. And the shoes save gas too! -mort

You keep sayin' that, but the published numbers I see are still 47/44 for the 2013 hybrid. Now a 7 hwy mpg difference vs 6 for previous years. If you were going to commute like the epa, it's a 21 mpg difference. Also the ecoboost 1.6 will be a premium engine at about $1k over the base 2.5. -mort

This is misleading. All cars nosedive in a hard stop. Really stiff shocks may reduce nosedive, the original equipment shocks won't. Some newer cars have reduced nosedive by applying the rear brakes first. Ford (and others) call it EBD. -mort

Actually, even with the added weight of the battery etc, the Atkinson engine car is more efficient than the non-Atkinson 2.5l. However, a 6 mpg difference makes for a pretty long payback. For gasoline today @ $4.25 in 100,000 miles you'd save about $2300. -mort

I believe the extended warranty is tied to the VIN. That's all any dealer will need. Also some of the extended warranties have 24 hour roadside assistance, meaning Ford will pay for towing. -mort
