  1. This sounds like the grounding issue. At 25k miles you're still under warranty. Take it into the dealer, there is a grounding strap they can put on that should fix the issue.
  2. Well I'm happy you don't have issues. But minimizing the issues of those of us that are having problems doesn't help us. The thousands of Fusion owners that have been stiffed by Ford on this trans need answers, because there have been many transmission failures due to this issue. In this very thread, if you read through the 6 pages, you will read of at least one transmission being replaced. We're sick of being told that it's normal, and that the issues don't exist. We paid good money for a car with a garbage transmission and in most cases, Ford won't stand behind it. Yeah, autos tend to shift weird when cold- every auto I've had has done that. But none of them have acted like they're slipping! I may have been born at night, but I wasn't born last night and I know how an automatic transmission is supposed to shift... I'm not stupid. This 6F35 is trash, and there are tons of articles, posts, Youtube videos, and information across the internet accessible with a simple Google search that will back up what I am saying. Yes, I concede that most people will not drive the vehicle like I described above. I don't think I've done it more than 3 or 4 times since I've owned it (bought it new) under certain circumstances where I wanted the trans to hold gear as long as possible. But the other times it shifted through the gears normally. Now it won't. This is indicative of a problem. I have no compunctions about driving like it this once or twice if it will prove once-and-for-all I have a defective transmission. If Ford won't fix it this time, I'm seriously thinking of unloading my car. That's a shame as I love this car, and otherwise it's been great. But I won't be saddled with thousands of dollars worth of transmission repairs because Ford won't act responsibly while the car is under warranty. If you guys are so convinced I'm not having problems, you're more than welcome to buy it from me.
  3. Wow, think you could be a little more civil? My mother always taught me that if you can't say anything nice, you shouldn't say anything at all. Fact of the matter is, my car has been meticulously maintained and my transmission is still a pile of garbage. There's no denying Ford has an issue here and you try and deflect the blame on me. The rest of us with this problem don't need fanboyism, they need answers. Don't post here unless you have one..
  4. Well, the cold weather came back and so did my intermittent shift flaring. I found a new problem though- in "L" mode on my shifter, my transmission will not shift from second to third on wide open throttle. It just bounces up on the rev limiter acting like it wants to shift, but it can't. Tried it three times last night, same result each time. Gonna take a phone video tonight, show it to the service manager and demand it be fixed. Now. No flashes, no reprogramming, they replace parts and I don't pick it up until they do. This will be the third time it's been in for that issue, the first two they applied two flashes that did absolute dick, and the last time I was told there was nothing wrong. I'm so tired of this POS transmission. The rest of the car has been so awesome but there's definitely something wrong with the trans and Ford won't own up to it. At least with my old Stratus... sure it had a POS transmission too, but I got Chrysler to own up to their garbage and fix it. If I wanted a car with another garbage transmission, I would have happily bought another Chrysler knowing that at least they'll stand behind it.
  5. I might have missed, but how many miles do you have on the Milan?
  6. What's Pennzoil or Quaker State got to do with anything? Unless you're still functioning under the 40 year old stories of engine sludge with those two brands....
  7. When I have the symptoms, they keep getting worse. Now I seem to have a VERY late 1-2 shift, 2-3 and 3-4 flare up. It still does it on an infrequent basis, but when it does do it; it is getting worse and worse. When this is the issue, I have noticed it will also not engage in "D" right away when I put the shifter in drive- it'll take a few seconds. When this happens, I know I can expect some crappy shifting. I wish I could ram this **** transmission down their throats for a few weeks.
  8. The problem with Bosch plugs is they tend to make a few "one-size fits all" plugs that fit in many engines. The physical fit is fine, but the heat ranges under which the plugs are designed to operate are frequently wrong for the engine and it's design, which means gas mileage can suffer. Stores LOVE Bosch plugs because they only have a few different plugs to stock, instead of the hundreds they have to stock with other brands. But this isn't beneficial for the consumer unless you happen to own an engine for which the heat ranges will be correct. I always buy what the OEM uses. My Chryslers got Champions. The Mitsubishi engined Chrysler I currently own gets Champions or NGKs. My Fusion, when the time comes, will get Motorcraft. Any GMs I work on, I get Delcos. Pretty hard to miss when you go with OEM equipment.
  9. Consider a large investment in Febreeze after you remove the critter. Upholstery picks up odors like you wouldn't believe.
  10. My 2010 Fusion S built in Dec 09 has the double button anchor.
  11. My guess is that those are from the machine that drops the windshield in place during assembly. Talk to your dealer, they may have a solvent that can take them off.
  12. Problem with that is that you now have a closed system, which will promote mold growth. You need to open it up and take it off of recirc once the cabin gets cool.
  13. I don't think my rear seat has been used by people more than once or twice when I was driving friends around, but I would not buy a 2 door anything because I like being able to use my back seat for cargo on occasion. I am a traveling teacher- a band director to be specific, and sometimes I need that storage space for instruments. Though if I really need to haul a lot, the old '92 Voyager makes the trip instead of the Fusion. I guess I'm a middle aged man at heart.
  14. I'm a teacher. My Fusion IS my toy. My other set of wheels is a 1992 Plymouth Voyager with almost 230K miles, which as a traveling band director, comes in handy when it's time to haul instruments from school to school.
  15. Not long after my last post, I talked to the service manager at my dealership. He agreed to take the car back for a couple of days trying to track the problem down. After the first day I got a call to come in to do a ride-along with a tech, who, after listening to my description told me I was experiencing the problem after a "cold soak" where the car would get warmed up, then sit for a couple of hours. This led him to suspect either the MAF sensor, the throttle position sensor, or the fuel pump (all this in spite of the two harsh shifts I pointed out to him on the ride along- even though there were no flares). I got a call today asking me to pick up my car, three days after I gave it to them. No apology for coming up empty, nothing. I am disappointed in this dealer and in Ford, and am thinking of unloading the vehicle. First and last Ford.
  16. I agree, especially if the passenger's window will roll up with the passenger's switch just fine.
  17. I'm not sure you're correct about that. Call a local dealer and give them your VIN. The powertrain warranty is 5 years/60,000 miles and I think is transferable from owner to owner.
  18. +4 on the Motorcraft. I even use Motorcraft on my '92 Voyager from time to time. Great performing filter for a great value. In addition, it's pretty hard to go wrong with any filter made by Wix. If you have a Napa in your area, the Napa Gold filter is your best bet. Some auto stores sell the Wix brand directly as well.
  19. Hmmmm... that doesn't sound like the shift flare. Maybe a torque converter issue with it locking/unlocking? I take it you've never gotten a check engine light?
  20. Is this a 2010 or 2011? Do a forum search for "shift flare" and see if it describes your symptoms.
  21. Had the 10B15 recall done at about 4k miles. Had another flash applied at 17k after the 2-3 shift flaring problem when cold. Took it back today at 21.5k and they had no answers- I got the "could not duplicate" dance from the dealer. All they did was apply the same software as last time- as they were directed to by Ford. If I could buy this car all over again, I wouldn't do it. Not with my own issues and the issues of so many others. I'd definitely have bought the Sonata. The rest of this car is awesome but I'm rapidly getting the feeling that Ford just doesn't have a clue when it comes to the 6F35.
  22. Well, got it back from the dealer today and they flashed the transmission again, with the same flash as the last time. I got the dreaded "could not duplicate" from them, they called Ford, and Ford told them to just flash it again. I'm pretty hacked off about this. Like the same flash that failed the first time is going to fix it now? All they did was wipe the trans programming- once the transmission "adapts" to whatever it is causing this problem, the shift flares will be back. Let the run around begin, I guess. I would recommend everyone here having transmission problems investigate joining this: http://www.girardgibbs.com/FordFusion.asp

    Lemon!

Don't cause a situation. If they find out it's sabotage they could easily void your warranty, at least on the part you're sabotaging. That's called fraud and it's illegal. 24 hour test drives are common. Most states will tell you that if the vehicle has never been titled, it is still a "new" car. Therefore, you bought a "new" car. The nondisclosure of the repair is the only thing you'd have to stand on legally. Good luck.
  24. Well, mine now has 21,500 miles on it and it is currently sitting at the dealer awaiting it's appointment tomorrow. The 2-3 shift flare came back. It's not as bad this time- now, most of the time, it feels like a late shift and will only flare maybe 100-200 RPMs. Every once in awhile I still get a flare of 1000 RPMs or so. I sure hope they do something more than play with their computers this time. I have a rental 2011 Focus. Kind of like it. The 4 speed shifts nice. Maybe the dealership is interested in a trade? lol... well, half joking.
  25. At the very least, I would find another dealer. The one you're visiting sounds inept, to say the least.
