    New Rust

Sorry for the bump...been busy elsewhere. Anyhoo... I discovered rust in the exact same spot this past summer. Almost the same size. It's probably been going on for a year (two+?), but since I rarely use the rear doors, especially the passenger side, I didn't notice it until now. I sanded it, cleaned it, and put several coats of Rust Oleum's Rust Converter on it (similar to Por 15). Since it's on the inside/side of the door where next to no one sees it, I didn't bother repainting it. So far, it hasn't seemed to have spread/gotten any worse in the nearly 6 months since I did the work on it.
  2. Regarding your window issue, we had the same problem on my fiancee's Fiesta. The auto up/down had to be reset. Try this procedure from the Fiesta manual: For the wiper issue (and possibly your outlet problem), have you checked for a blown fuse?

    Logos Peeling

The whole rear bar has to be removed? All of the replacement badges I've seen on eBay look like they're just stuck on with double-stick tape. It's looking like leaving it alone is the best option.

    Logos Peeling

Lately, I've been noticing a clear layer that has begun to peel around the Ford ovals...first I noticed it on the trunk logo, now I'm also seeing it on the grille logo as well. Unlike the issue with many older F-150s, this is just around the "chrome" outer trim of the logo, not the blue field or script areas. At first it seemed like a protective shipping sticker that someone forgot to remove at the factory after installing the parts (similar to what you'd find on many electronics when you first take them out of the box), but instead I'm beginning to think it's delaminating. Anyone else experienced this? Anyone replaced the logos before? Are they held on with double-stick tape? Screw(s)? After reading about other quality issues with the "chrome" grille, I'm hesitant to touch anything attached to it if it's attached with adhesive. Despite how I like to keep my car looking new, I'm tempted to ignore this as a) it's plastic, b ) you only really notice it when you're up close and/or touching it, and c) I have a nice big scratch to deal with in my rear quarter panel some jerk gave me in a parking lot.
  5. I've had a similar experience when backing out of a garage...the sensors would detect the doorframe. As soon as the bumper was just outside of the garage, all was quiet.
  6. I'm well aware of the part revisions. Hopefully they got it right this time (fourth, fifth revision now?). Until they have successfully solved the cause of the malfunctioning TB, changing the response programming does nothing to correct the root problem, it only softens the blow.
  7. IIRC, that version of the Fusion had some issues with cracks in part of the frame. That would cause more of a groaning, deep squeak kind of a sound.
  8. Um, hopefully they've fixed the TB so this failure doesn't happen anymore. Period. Adjusting the limp mode is just a Band-Aid, IMO.
  9. Have you had the infamous throttle body replaced yet? If not, that could be a cause of the harder shifts. After having my TB replaced with the updated part, and the computer "relearning" the adaptive shift strategy, I noticed my shifts smoothing out. It took several weeks for them to smooth out. I still have the random rough shift, but they seem to occur less frequently and when they do, they seem less pronounced then before.
  10. You can, but it will cost you a lot of money. My dealer and I found out the hard way that it is not just a simple "plug-n-play" glass swap. While the overall glass shape is the same, the mirror/motor mounts are completely different. To do it "stock" you need the correct glass and mounts which will run you north of $500 (parts only), unless you go to a junk yard. To get the nearly same effect (for significantly cheaper), I picked up a pair of stick on "square" (one corner is significantly rounded) blind spot mirrors for about $4. They are adjustable and with the one rounded corner, they fit nicely in the outside upper corners where the integrated ones would have been. They do stick out approx. 1/4-inch from the glass, but should be shielded by the mirror housing for the most part (depending on how you have the mirrors adjusted). The plasti-chrome surround blends in fairly well with the rest of the mirror. Walmart has 'em, as well as Farm & Fleet and Fleet Farm (seeing as you're from WI).
  11. Mine was replaced about a month ago after dying on the highway - according to the receipt, they used part: DS7Z-9E926-D. Work was done in less than a day.
  12. From page 3 of the thread... It's a technicality...yes, it's needed to make your car move, but it's physically not connected to the powertrain--the components between the mechanical output of the engine and your wheels.
  13. Got a call from the dealer today...car will be ready for me to pick up at my convenience. Like I guessed, a bad throttle body was found and was replaced. Thanks to my complimentary ESP (from the gurgle issue), I only have to pay the $100 deductible. I sent an email to my service advisor where I get planned work done about the situation, and he said to keep record of the payment as it would be eligible for reimbursement should Ford decide to issue a recall or "customer satisfaction program" regardless of whether I still owned the car or not. He didn't have any specific info from Ford regarding any potential future action on Ford's part, but he did say they have been seeing this TB problem lately.
  14. Well, I unfortunately joined the shake, rattle, and roll club yesterday. Just shy of 40K on the clock. Couple of miles on the freeway out of town, then without any warning, the wrench light appeared and all throttle control disappeared. Pulled to the side and restarted just to have the same thing happen less than a half a mile down the road two more times. The CEL came on when it happened the third time. Got towed to the nearest dealer (Ford's towing network around here blows ...had to wait an hour and a half for someone to show up, even though I wasn't far from a major city and less than 5 miles from the dealer). All they had on their Saturday staff was a oil change guy. Luckily they did have a loaner. Won't know anything else until sometime tomorrow. Couldn't have picked a worse time to happen...almost killed a big weekend I had been planning for months.
  15. Ok, I am ready for the chorus of "I told ya so"...it may have taken nearly six months, but the slosh has returned. Coolant level is still at the upper end of the range molded into the degas bottle. Temperature gauge hasn't gotten any hotter. We'll see what the dealer has to say on Monday when I'm in for regular maintenance (as well as a list of other things).
