Bought a 2010 Fusion 2.5 SE in February. Have had problems with hard shifts ever since. Namely from 2nd to 3rd gear at 20mph, first thing in the morning (and sometimes other times as well) it jerks pretty rough. Also, at the downshift at 40mph (5-4?) there is usually a decent spike in rpm's to the point where you can really feel the downshift.
I received the letter about the TSB and got the PCM flashed. The dealer "checked" the transmission and said everything was to spec. I drove it off the lot and it felt quite a bit better, I was pretty happy. Now, 2 weeks later, the hard shifts are slowly returning.
Wondering if anyone else has experienced a rough shift from 2-3? What was wrong/what was fixed? It seems like a lot of folks are having transmission issues, which is disappointing as this is my first ever new car, and decided to go with Ford...
I pretty much like everything else about the car. For a four cylinder it sure has enough power to get around town, A/C blows cold (live in Florida), radio sounds decent enough, and everything else seems pretty refined.... all except for the "squirrelly" transmission. I know the 6 speed is supposed to save on mpg, but that extra shift in the low gears sure gets annoying, especially when it shifts hard. The transmission feels more like a computer than a machine.
I am going to schedule another appointment at the dealer (probably in July because I am going to be out of town next week) but was hoping for some backup ammo going in.... Kind of wish I spent the extra on the V6...
Any thoughts? Thanks!
