  1. Thank you. I'm picking up the part this weekend and will hopefully get it installed sometime next week. Was surprised that it wasn't too expensive, so even if it turns out not to be that, I'm sure that it would have gone bad at some point. Car just hit 174K.
  2. Hi, Interior lights do not dim. When I put the key in and turn, the usual dashboards lights come on. When I turn, nothing (I thought there was clicking but there isn't). I found that if I push the key in and wiggle, it starts.
  3. Reviving this thread. Last posted that car was at mechanics on 12/27 and they couln't find anything wrong with it. The issue happened again on January 9. Started right up on the second try. Called my mechanic and he said without the issue replicating when he has it, it would be hard to diagnose. Mentioned could be a dead spot in the starter. Car was fine for 3 months. Fast forward to a couple of weeks ago and had the same issue. Started up on 3rd try. Then happened again when I was leaving work last week. The mechanic at my job said he would replace the ignition starter switch for me to see if that does the trick. Fingers crossed....
  4. ^^tried to edit the above post, but couldn't figure out how. Code was P0221
  5. I'm in New Jersey. I wasn't sure if it was a coincidence that this happened pretty much the same time of year last year. LIke I mentioned, it happened this past Saturday night and not since. But last year it was the same issue. it would come on a few times over a month or so, then more and more frequently. I was able to turn off/restart the car and it would be fine. It would always come on w/in 15 seconds or so of starting the car...it never actually came on while I was driving. So once the car was started and no light, I knew the car would be fine at least until I restarted it. I'm going to check w/my mechanic to see if it is warrantied. I had my emissions inspection this past July and it passed, so I'm good until July 2018. I've been doing some research and see there is a debate whether the air pump is even needed
  6. I actually could have written this post. I had the same issue, 2007 Fusion, currently 155K miles. Had the air pump replaced in January 2016 - exact symptoms as you...wrench light, shudder/hesitation at stop. First thought it was the throttle body, so replaced that...same issues. Replaced the air pump and it was fine until this past Saturday night. Wrench light/hesitation when coming to a stop. I haven't gotten to my mechanic to pull codes, but I'm guessing it is the air pump again.
  7. This is a follow up to my post from late last year/early this year. Driving Saturday night, my wrench light came on. There was no difference in the car's performance, other then when coming to a stop it did a bit of a shudder - which is the exact symptom last time it failed. Acceleration was fine and it drove smoothly. It is now 4 days later and hasn't come back on soon. I'm curious if this is somehow connected to the weather as this was about the same time last year it first started acting up. Is the secondary air pump even needed? (I passed emissions in July and don't plan on keeping the car for over another year). Are there any driveability issues if I do not get it repaired. If I do get it repaired (which I will do if it is under warranty), it would be the 3 one..I had it first replaced in 2011, then January 2016.
  8. I think I worded it wrong. When they replaced it 4 years ago, it was out of warranty. I paid out of pocket. I was asking if the new air pump they installed in 2011 has any type of warranty on the part.
  9. Hi....reviving this thread. I'm getting the wrench light again. I've also had check engine light on for a while, w/out any driveability issues. However, when wrench comes on, car is driveable but shudders when coming to a stop & lacks some power. Wrench light wasn't on when at mechanics. He was getting a secondary air injection code from CEL light. He was able to get the wrench light on and still same code - no additional ones. I had this issued repaired in 2011 as stated above. I requested they replace the throttle body, however If this is the air pump again, is this covered under warranty? Thanks in advance.
  10. Hello, My engine splash guard (I think that is what it is called) was scraping the ground - I guess it came loose due to all the snow/ice in NJ . Anyway, I was able to have the piece that was scraping the ground removed. The rest of it is still attached but hanging a bit. Is this an essential part that needs to be replaced immediatley? In looking it up, it seems it is more for aerodynamics. I found the apart at the attached link note that the link to this product was removed at the request of autopartswarehouse - Ford Fusion Team Thanks
  11. Just had both of these replaced on my 2007 Fusion this week for about the same amout : $1164
  12. I picked up the car yesterday. Rides great (i guess it should for $1163). The receipt I received shows the codes it was throwing as: P0505 and P2258. They replaiced the exaust air supply (which I guess is the air pump) and valve and bracket asy control. As I was paying I asked if any of it was covered under the extended emissions warranty and they said "oh we didn't even think to check that". They ran the part numbers and of course it wasn't covered. Guess it didnt' hurt to ask. I definetly feel a difference in the shifting - but not sure if that is due to the tranny flush prior to this repair.
  13. Hi, I previously posted my 2007 Ford Fusion's problems in powertrain thread because I thought it was going to turn out to me a transmission problem (throttle/trans light and CEL light on/slow on acceleration). Dealer today told me the air pump and valve needs to be replaced for total of $1085 - which includes the $110 diagnostic fee. Unfortunately, I do not have my warranty book w/me (in car at dealership). Does anyone know if this would be covered under emissions warranty? The dealer never brought it up. I am still under the 80K Federal Emissions Warranty. Thanks
  14. Thanks, turns out they need to replace the air pump and a valve - $1085 They are hoping this fixes it, if not throttle body: $530 another Guess it is better than the transmission. Curious if any of this would be covered under emmissions warranty since the air pump is part of the emmissions.
  15. Update, it's been at the dealer all day and they told me it is throwing two codes. He didnt tell me which ones, but if they are the same as the onese my mechanic had, they are the secondary air injections ones. He believes it is that or a sensor. He said he can practically rule out the the transmission as being the problem
  16. Well, my mechanic just called and they said they had a hard time diagnosing. There aren't any codes being thrown. He did say the transmission fluid was dirty and has a bit of a burnt smell. He suggested a drain/flush. They are going to look into a few other things before doing that.
  17. Thanks - I'm hoping it is the throttle body. Dropped it off last night and am anxiously awaiting 'that call".
