Looking at 2010-2012 Sports... what to look out for?
durasel replied to Drive XR7's topic in Buying, Leasing & Ordering
Make sure you find a 402 package that includes all the goodies that come on the SEL, such as, keypad on door, heated seats, power passenger seat, and more. This package originally listed around $4K. I wouldn't have a Sport without that package!! Some owners also have had problems with the PTU on AWD Fusions. BTW, I have an extra complete MKZ engine cover for that 3.5 Sport engine if you're interested In the near future. I'm in the burbs of Detroit, not too far from you. -

What type of Transmission on a 2010 ford Fusion Sport 3.5
durasel replied to Boston1313's topic in 3.5L V6
Let us know how it works out for you. I found the best price online for the Mobil 3309 (don't laugh now) at The Lubricant Store for $62.72 plus shipping for a case. Shipping here to MI was $5.36. -
As the owner of 2 Sports, one of the biggest things in our choice was the aisin transmission. All Fusions from 2010+ (except the Sport) have the 6F35 transmission. Some cars are fine, others have problems. It's a crap shoot that we didn't want to be part of. Both Sports are great, lots of power and no real problems!!

FS: 2010 - 2012 Fusion Sport / MKZ 3.5 Engine Cover

Nice work!! Still have one cover complete left!! -
Make sure the PTU (power transfer unit) on your AWD vehicle is OK. Some problems with those, about a $1K fix.

Lincoln Engine Cover added to my Sport
durasel commented on durasel's gallery image in Ford Fusion Forum Member's Gallery
You need the oil filler extension, the rubber gasket that goes on the cover and around that extension, 2 rubber plugs on the top of the engine and a screw on ball stud for the lower right of the cover. The cover is easy to find, the parts much harder, unless you pay through the teeth at a dealership. -
Have a Zephyr/Lincoln Engine cover for sale. Will fit all 2006-2008 Fusion/Milan models with the 3.0 engine and aluminum valve cover (not the plastic composite one). Includes all parts for installation. Too large to ship so it's pick up only. Located in Canton, MI between Ann Arbor and Detroit. $55 includes installation.

Ford had this problem all the way back to the 1996+ Taurus/Sable models. Did they ever fix the problem? Obviously not!! Had the floorboards rust out on a 98 Taurus before I ever heard of this problem! Ford used a sponge type gasket to seal the A//C drain tube coming out of the firewall and the drain water finds its way back into the cabin thru this sponge work. I sealed around the outside of the drain coming out of the firewall using silicon caulk. Did it to many relative's and friend's cars too. Now that we have 2 2010 Fusions, I did the same with those as a preventative measure. The drain hole on the Taurus/Sable cars was oval and I noticed on the Fusions/Milans the drain is circular. Hopes this helps!!

Have a pair of Fusion Homelink Sunvisors for sale from a 2012 Fusion Sport. Will fit all 2006 - 2012 models with lighted visor mirrors (plug and play). Visors are a grayish color and came with all black interior cars. There is a small tear in the paper airbag warning (not the fabric) and two very small fabric pulls (all hardly noticeable). See attached pictures. $49 shipped for the pair

Wow, you lucked out! I do have a set of Fusion Homelink Sunvisors from a black interior 2012 Sport for sale if you're interested. Visors are a grayish color (same color visors with all the black interiors). $45 Shipped

Be sure to check what package each car has. There is a 401 pkg (moon and tune only) and a 402 pkg that has a lot of extras like heated seats, door keypad, outside temp on dash, power passenger seat, heated mirrors and puddles, ambient lighting, homelink visor, aluminum gas/brake pedals and dual temp hvac. This pkg cost about $2K extra. Some dealers don't even know about this and I made sure when we got our 2 used Sports they had the 402 pkg. BTW, reverse cam + blis can be purchased separately on the 401 but come std on the 402. If you have nav, it's the 402 pkg, like car A. Nav is an option on the 402 and is about a $2K option. Sounds like car B is a 401 pkg with the reverse cam and blis option. There are a few bare bone Fusion Sports around (not many at all) that have neither pkg, no moonroof and the std sound system. Hope this helps!
