  1. I had my MEC Pump replaced on my 2010 FFH that has 245,700 miles. I had the "pull over safely" red triangle come on. I still received codes indicating the electronics were overheating. When I checked the antifreeze reservoir it was empty, I put fluid it. Also took it to my Ford dealer. I asked them to check for the reason regarding overheating, indicated I wasn't sure if when the MEC pump was replaced that it was bled or fluid added. The result from the dealer - "time to move on, you have 245,000+ miles so you have had your use". You need a new transmission, $14,000 because the transmission is overheating - we pinpointed the problem. I said I know it is overheating, why is it overheating? You need a transmission was the reply. I asked if I need a transmission, how did I drive it here (and back home tonight)? No response. Is it time to hang it up on this car? This has been the best car, does everything they said it would - as you can see I am not ready to donate this one.
  2. 236,755 miles, had the battery "fix" back to getting 40+ mpg with no effort. Also all the brakes and rotors replaced, struts in the front. A small bit of rust (live in Wisconsin). All set to go for sometime.
  3. I was finally able to get a hold of my local Ford Dealer. They "appreciated me sending them the info on the TSB". Funny it took me chatting online with someone other than the service department to get them to call me. I had left a message a couple of weeks earlier, which they returned my call - after I had set the appointment the previous day!!! Due to my computer situation at home the fix cost less that doing it myself - $99. Got the car back last Friday; works like a charm!! No more hesitation, back to getting 40+ MPG around town. 232,000+ miles on my car, think I will keep it a bit longer. Thanks for all the info on this part of the forum!!
  4. I called the dealer where I purchased my car. Left a message about TSB-20-2142 and if they would perform the service and the charge. No return call.....
  5. Has anyone in the Milwaukee WI area done this? I can't get a dealer or local shop that "specializes" in hybrids to do this or respond.
  6. Boucher Ford in Menomonee Falls Wisconsin refused to perform this service. Stating it was unknown to ford and they didn't want to take the liability. I will try another dealer in the area.
  7. I sent the string from this link to my dealer. "interesting reading". They will let me know tomorrow if they are willing to try this. Of course he had to remind me that my battery was 10 years old.... I will remind him that so are the ones that other people are having success with this. This isn't the first time I had to give them the solution to a problem I had, that I found on this forum.
  8. They used the car's engine/generator to charge/rebalance. He said that is how Fords to that..... I asked if he used n external machine for others, he said yes. However it didn't sound like rebalancing, more like recharging as they pulled the battery and charged each cell. He has a reconditioned battery for $3,300, 3yr 36,000 mile warranty. From earlier parts of this thread I would guess that wasn't the way to do it. Where do people go to get a rebalance done correctly?
  9. I took my 2010 FFH (215,000 mile) to a local specialty shop to be rebalanced. The battery got extremely hot twice so the process was shut down. The battery will only charge enough to put out roughly 10 horsepower so basically there is no EV under 40 MPH. It does start/stop at stop lights, starts in the EV and backs up a short way. I asked why there weren't any codes (which the dealers look for), apparently Ford elected not to have that alert (battery issue) programed into the system. Other manufacturers (Honda, Toyota...) have codes in their system indicating problems. It is a good car so still very drivable and in great shape considering I live in Wisconsin where the salt runs free in the winter. I will start a search for a possible replacement, no hurry, Honda Accord hybrid maybe. Great info on this thread and in the forum overall
  10. After reading this string and having the same thing going on with my 2010 FFH. I sent a request for a price to do the "balancing of the battery" to the two dealers in my area, including the one I purchased the car from. I also did some research as to what this was, ways to do it and so one. One service department called back. They were not familiar with what this was and could I explain it. I let him know what I knew, limited, and my experience with the other dealer in town. Like others the other dealer had my car for several days before proclaiming "no codes = no problem" even after checking with the Ford hotline. He is going to call back once he does some checking, he stated they don't sell many hybrids so this was a first for them... I will let everyone know what I find out. Interesting the sell something they can't service. Wonder if Honda dealers are in a similar situation.
  11. Is it better to replace (due to pat Ford issues) the throttle body or clean it. I am assuming this will cure the hesitation issue when I press on the foot pedal.
  12. Great thread. I commented on 12-14-18 with the same problem. Car sat at the dealer for a week. "no codes = no problem" from the Hot Line. Look forward to seeing what happens. It is really cold here in WI so it will be a while before temps get over 50 but would like to solve the issue. Thanks everyone for sharing.
  13. I live in Wisconsin, just had a similar experience, 2010 with 210,000 miles. Took the car to the dealer, after a week there and them having discussions with "the hotline". No codes showed up after all their testing. They felt it was the cooler temperatures. They also updated the modules, which I am convinced changed a few things on the car but no one seems to agree with. Once it warms up, we will see. The cooler temperatures do have an impact on mileage but the EV should still kick in when the engine is warmed up, at least that is how it worked in the past. Once your temps return to normal, your mileage should.
  14. Yes, but what did that change? Anytime there is a software update on a phone, computer and so on there are changes. I now see the "Ready to Drive" on the left of the screen, and the leaves look different. Wondered about anything else.
  15. I took my car in for some work on the EV as it wasn't kicking in on speeds under 45. The car has 210,000 miles on it, dealer said the battery was fine. They updated the modules. What does that mean? I noticed a "ready to drive" indicator comes on when I first start the car. Also the leaves have a different look to them. It also seems more difficult to achieve higher MPG. Did the updates adjust that calculation? The dealer could not pinpoint why the EV did not kick in, after their call to the "hot line" they chalked it up to cold weather. Not sure about that as I hadn't had that concern in the past. Has anyone noticed anything after a module update?
  16. 135,000+ miles. Passenger side headlight bracket has been about it aside from oil changes and other standard procedures. Great mileage, live in Wisconsin, once the temperature is above 40 degrees the milage is above 40.
