  1. I found out the car wasn’t there. I no longer need anyone to go there. thanks danford1
  2. Anyone here live in or near Salem Missouri? If not do you know anyone there? I live in Michigan and there is a car for sale in Salem. I just need someone to go there and do a FaceTime or video call with me so I can see it and hear it run. The person doesn't have to be knowledgeable about cars. I will ask the owner the questions during the video call. We can keep this private so send me a Private Message or email. Thanks Danford1
  3. I'm sorry, I have to ask... what is a TP?
  4. I have a 2008 SEL V6. Recently my compass quit working and displays Compass Read Error when I start the car. I have to push the reset button to get my display back. Yes, yes, I tried resetting the compass, driving in circles to no avail. I've got used to just pushing reset when i start the car to clear the error. A NEW problem arose the other day. When I push reset the information center And the Radio display And the auto temperature display all blank out. Everything seems to work just all the displays are black. Is this a common problem? Where do I look for the fix? Thanks
  5. Thanks for the replies. I'll start searching the net for tricks. I know I can save gas if i get the chip tweaked to have the trans shift at a lower rpm while at part throttle. Perhaps the timing can be tweaked up also. I'll search for tweakers. I had a 4.6L T-Bird I had tweaked before. It made a noticeable difference in mileage. They can do it so the changes only come into play at less than 10% throttle so anything past that is back to factory settings. You only gain mileage when your foot barely pushes the gas. I already tried driving the Fusion that way and it just winds out and ignores the barely pushed gas pedal. The Fusion winds out to 2500 before shifting, no need to wind out when Slowwwly accelerating. Having the shifts happen at 1500 rpm will help. Now I just need to find a tweaker :-) Danford1
  6. I searched for this but didn't find what I was looking for so I started a new thread. I have an 08 with sport package and 3.0L engine, 6 sp auto. I'm looking for gas mileage improvement mods. I'm not looking for more power mods like most people, I want better mileage, both in town and highway. I currently get about 27 on the highway. That needs to go way up. I recently went through financial set backs and need better mileage for long trips I have to take. I already tried more air in the tires and a new air filter and 0W-30 synthetic oil. Are there mods to the airbox? Are there mods to the engine sensors to make it run leaner? Are there mods to the ECU to make it shift at a lower rpm at part throttle? Are there mods to give it more ignition advance ETC etc etc. Please list all the things people have tried over the years. Thanks Danford1
  7. My nephew says his oil light comes on and goes off at random times, 2006 V6. He recently had an oil and filter change and it had no effect on the light. The car runs well. I feel the oil pressure sending unit needs to be replaced. He can handle simple easy tasks and yes I can help out. We just want to know where it is and how hard it is to change. Soooooo, where is it and how hard is it to change? The part is only $17 for the Motorcraft brand... We figured we would try the simple things first. Thanks. Danford1
  8. I'm getting crappy mileage in Michigan too. I have an 08 Sport and I'm only getting about 16.0 mpg city driving. That sucks. I just got the car in November. The first tank I had it it got 22 mpg, city driving (same area I'm driving now). Then it got 18.8 for two tanks and now 16.0. I sure Hope it is just the winter blend fuel. I replaced the air filter thinking that would help, no difference. The oil has about 1000 miles on it, still clean. Tires are pumped up to 35 lbs. My trunk is empty too. No added weight in car. I use BP 87 octane gas. The car runs excellent with plenty of power, just crappy mileage... Perhaps it will get better in summer. Danford1
  9. I got the APS57C. I didn't install it myself. I had it done. It works well :-) Danford1
  10. Sorry it took so long to respond... I still DO think it is worth the effort. Does anyone know which colored wire feeds the accessory delay relay? I would like to unhook that and give it a switched circuit operated by the key like akirby suggested. Thanks Danford1
  11. I already have one. I got an Audiovox , can't remember the model number. It works well. I didn't like that clunky Ford key it was just to big. I got a regular key from a dealer that starts the car, much smaller. Now I have the small Audiovox fob and a regular key. I'm happy. Danford1

    Engine cover?

Can someone post a close up picture of the ball stud used to hold the engine cover on? I have the Ford part number 2L1Z-6N958-AA. I want to see if I can make one or find another place to buy them from. Please take a couple key dimensions or simply lay a tape measure or ruler next to it when you take the close up picture. Thanks. Danford1
  13. Two reasons for me. First ,the factory ones don't have a long range. After markets are 1000' to 2500'. Aftetrmarkets cost less than half as much and have a life time warranty. I ended up getting an Audioxox installed with 1200' range for $195 out the door ... works just fine ! I can be inside a store heading for the check out, hit the button and the car starts. The factory one can't do that.... When I get to my car it is running and warm inside (I live in Michigan, it has been in the teens recently). I'm happy :-) Danford1
  14. I solved it. I did some internet checking first though to confirm I could do this on a cheap Sony amp :-) I took the speaker level input wires on the amp and hooked them together (matched polarity of course). Then I hooked the 6X9's to what was listed on the amp as front output. I hooked the sub up to the bridged portion of the rear output. Works fine and sounds good. Thanks. Danford1
  15. All great info guys. Now we are getting somewhere :-) Pretty soon I'll be reading about what color wire to cut and where the easiest place is to get to said wire. That is the kind of info I need. The problem with the added audio amp is it gets its turn on signal from the input, not the normal blue wire remote turn on. When the radio is one, the amp is on. Keep the info flowing. This is great! Danford1
