  1. Hello everybody, long time lurker, first time poster. Out of curiosity does anybody know of any aftermarket cams that would fit the duratec 3.0? If it means anything my fusion is a 2006. I've already tuned, intake, and exhaust and I was just going to see if there was more I can do. Thanks!
  2. Hey folks, I have a 2006 Fusion with the 2.3 liter engine. This engine uses the cartridge-style oil filter which, although it may be more environmentally friendly (less materials used), is a real PITA to change--I have experienced multiple issues with the housing/cap (most recently, the drain plug at the bottom of the cap leaking in spite of changing the O-ring), and would like to use a spin-on filter. I heard that there is an adapter that is designed for spin-on filters. There was a posting on this forum, as well as another forum, which included links to the parts, but the links were dead. If anyone can advise me of the proper part numbers for the adapter and gasket for the spin-on filters, it would be greatly appreciated.
  3. Hello all! I have a 2006 SE 3.0 L V6... My issues started with an odd sputter while in park. Things got worse on the way home and the check engine light came on (wouldn't go above 40, shaking, etc...). The codes read multiple misfires on 4,5,6. We were told it was probably the PCM (apparently this model is notorious for PCM issues) so we took it to a shop and after 3 months of them working on it we called and they told us there was nothing wrong with the PCM and we should come pick it up, Also, the coils were not wet or dirty and seemed to have no cracking when we checked them. After putting the PCM back on, we started it to see if anything might have changed. At this point the check engine light was no longer on but the problems were still there. We also noticed that there was a loud knocking in the left side of the intake manifold. It sounded like something was loose. We removed the intake manifold and you could hear something rattle around that my husband could barely feel with his finger. The gaskets seemed in great condition. So......... I am having problems finding any information about that specific intake manifold and/or schematics for it (to try and figure out what was rattling). We are just trying to figure things out and would appreciate any and all info to help with any of the issues. My husband says I need more help than that LOL. We are just ready to pull our hair out and if money wasn't an issues, we would just bring it to the shop. THANKS!!!!
  4. I have a 2006 Ford Fusion SEL V6 that had a standard 6 CD radio when I bought it, I recently bought a used 2006 Ford Five Hundred Ford navigation system. It works but the bass just isn't as good/loud as it was before, I turned the bass up in the sounds options but not too much changed. Also my steering wheel controls no longer work for the Ford navigation system.
  5. Hey Folks, I have a 2006 Fusion SEL with the factory stereo/6CD changer and steering wheel controls. I am experiencing difficulties with this stereo including an extremely dim display, and several of my CDs have been scratched up, so I would like to replace it. I am not looking for anything real fancy--just a radio/CD that will have nice sound using the factory speakers. Can anyone tell me if there are aftermarket stereos which would be able to utilize the steering wheel controls? I am quite spoiled with those controls so I would prefer to find a stereo that would work with them. Any recommendations for a decent stereo (less than $125) that is highly rated and good sounding would be appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help.
  6. I bought a used 2006 ford fusion about 7 months ago and ever since I got it, it dies and says check charging system. It seems to die when it's warmer outside and if i drive it longer than like 15 minutes. It only dies at stops (stoplights, stop signs, etc) and it does it if its stopped usually for longer than 30 seconds. When this first started happening we replaced the battery and it continued, so we took it to a mechanic and they found nothing at all (connected it to the computer too) so we took it to multiple other auto part places to connect to a computer and it showed nothing. So we took it to another mechanic who changed the alternator and throttle body and fixed some connections. Again, nothing. Still dying. I just don't know what to do anymore. I'm only 16 and I don't have money to buy a new car and i'm not going to do what this guy did to me and just let someone else deal with it. I've already spent $900 on replacing things that dont even fix it. any ideas or recommendations?

  8. So my '06 SEL is at 93k miles and beginning to need its third set of tires. I bought it at 75k with its current tires. They're Nexen N6000 and I absolutely hate them. They ride rough, are pretty loud, have only decent handling, and wet grip is almost nonexistent. My car doesn't have ESC, TC or ABS (I'd like to meet the person who made the decision not to make all that standard- especially on a top-of-the-line SEL). That being said, with new tires, wet traction is one of my top priorities. I need all-season tires. I live in the southeast, so snow isn't usually a problem, but we have the occasional icing. I also want excellent handling because I'm a pretty agressive driver. I also want ride comfort- my family lives about 500 miles away so I take frequent road trips on broken interstates, and a jiggly ride makes it miserable. As I said previously, wet traction is VERY important since I don't even have ABS. I also want a long tread life- I'm having to spend months saving up for this set of tires, so obviously money doesn't grow on trees for me. I'd also like quieter tires, these I have now drive me insane with all their noise. Price-wise, I don't want to go cheap, but I also don't want anything outrageously expensive. I've been leaning toward the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus. I'd like to hear about experiences and suggestions. Thanks!

  10. So I have owned my 2012 Fusion Sport for about 2 weeks and I wanted to share some thoughts and compare it to my experience with my 2006 SE V6. Ride: The most surprising and immidiately noticable difference was how well the Sport handled compared to my old Fusion. I had absolutely no complaints about my '06, but with a tighter suspension, I did not expect the overall ride quality to be so much better. It swallowed up expansion joints and potholes on Pennsylvania highways like they weren't even there, and of course, it dove into tight corners without breaking a sweat. Interior: The seats also felt like they went through a considerable redesign. They felt much more comfortable than the previous model. I also appreciated the additional cubby to the left of the steering wheel. Now for some criticism - and a few interior details are essentially my only gripe about the whole vehicle. I miss the change holder. Minor, but it came in handy on long trips with tolls. I also hate the placement of the mp3 input. I store all of my music on my phone, and who wants to store their phone in the center console? At least there's a pass-thru so that you can keep your phone/mp3 player in the cupholder as long as your cord is long enough. Luckily, mastering sync eliminates this annoyance. I'm not a fan of the ice blue spedometer cluster. I also hate the cheap-sounding noises the car makes at startup and when you turn on the turn signal. Exterior: I requested my sport in silver because I thought it looked best with the darker grille. I briefly considered blue but ultimately landed on silver because I felt it would age more gracefully. After living with the car for the past couple of weeks I definitely made the right choice. I still get a little giddy everyday walking through the parking lot when I see my new ride. It even looks good slightly dirty. My '06 was black and I vow to never own a black car again because it shows every spec of dirt and every blemish. I also find the car easier to wash than the '06. The '12 grille is far easier to dry off. Minor, but sometimes it's the little things. Audio: I requested a sport with the moon&tune package, and I've been pleased with the moon portion of the deal. I'm lukewarm on the tune part. Honestly, I expected a little more punch out of the sony audio system. It sounds fine, but it just seems like it should be a little louder and have crisper bass. I also miss the 6-disc changer my '06 had. I realize I may be one of the last person that still uses CDs, but I am used to popping in several CDs and not thinking about it until weeks later. So overall I love my new car. If I had to do it all over again I would probably change nothing and purchase the exact same car.
  11. Hey guys, unfortunately I am thinking of parting ways with my Fusion. It is a 2006 SE V6 with 143xxx. I purchased it with 100k in 2008 so i feel I have babied her. This has to be one of the most reliable cars I have seen in the market today. I have pictures and more details if anyone is interested. I am posting this from my phone so I cannot upload pictures at the time. I am in New York city and if you are around I can show in person. My number is (347) 525 2681 TEXT ONLY please. I am asking for 7000 Or best offer.
