  1. So I was driving down the highway today and I set my cruise/speed control just like I always do. Maybe after like 10-15 minutes down the highway, my instant mileage reading came on. At first, it was just showing my mpg like the average of it. Then, like I said it instantly just switched over to instant mileage reading where it would go down if I stepped on the gas and would go back up if I started coasting or pressed the brake. I didn't press any buttons or anything. I have no idea how to change it back either. I tried looking in the owners manual and I couldn't find anything either. I have a 2007 Ford Fusion SE.
  2. I recently started getting some brake squeal and after inspection my front pads are worn down, and my rears are a bit better but could use replacement. So I've decided I'm going to replace the pads on all 4 wheels on my Fusion. I do live in a cold climate that gets snow and ice in the winter. What do you guys recommend?
  3. Hello. I have a 2007 Fusion 2.3L manual 5spd that i have recently replaced the engine. The engine is an "early build(cartridge style oil filter, non-California)". I was told it was out of a 2009 Milan with only approx 105k miles. I have had no issues except for an occasional stall when coming to a stop, but recently discovered it to be an oil burner. It uses about 1qt every couple of days and i only drive about 20mi/day. I did a Compression test that revealed the lowest cylinder to have 157psi of compression. Im considering PCV failure to be the culprit. Has anyone else had a similar experience?

  5. \Had a replacement computer go toasty about a year after I put it in and no warranty since it was bought by a dealership employee and programmed by a friend of his. I opened it up to look for damage, but there was no obvious damage. I've decided to replace the computer. I'm looking at protechautosystems.com since I can get a three year warranty from them. If anyone has any advice on where to get a replacement computer from, I'm interested in hearing it. My main question is this: I've read that when replacing a faulty computer I need to replace all of the coils as well. Is this true and/or is there a way to test the coils to see if they are good to use or not? I ask because the coils were replaced at the same time as the computer and the ones that had a code, which I pulled, looked good on the outside -- no apparent damage.
  6. I'm currently shopping for new tires for my 2007 Fusion SEL, tire specs P225/50R17. I've done some online research but I would also like some feedback from fellow Fusion owners. I am looking for new all-season tires for my car, but since I live in Michigan I have to deal with snow and ice on the roads. I'm willing to prioritize good handling in snow and ice conditions over road noise and fuel economy. Based off my online research the following tires pop up as having the most favorable reviews (listed alphabetically): BFGoodrich Advantage T/A Sport Continental PureContact with Ecoplus Technology Firestone Champion Fuel Fighter Michelin Premier A/S Pirelli Cinturato P7 All Season Plus For those of you who have experience with these tires, which would you recommend and why? Or if there is a different tire you would recommend, which one and why? Any feedback would be appreciated.
  7. Hey guys have a 07 fusion 2.3L with a manual transmission at 170k miles. So this started about a week ago, when I push my clutch in to shift it starts to make this squealing sound. When my foot is off the clutch there is no sound. I haven't had any problems shifting since it has happened. I checked my clutch fluid and its full and looks clean. I was wondering if anyone else has had a problem like this or does anyone know what it might be? Tyler
  8. Hey, I have a 2007 Ford Fusion SE with a 4 cylinder engine and i was wondering if it would be worth it to even turbo it. it has around 175 horsepower and i was wondering the average gains i would get by turboing it. Thanks! William
  9. Hello Fusion Forum, I'm new to this site as a member, but I've visited it frequently over the years, always great advice here! I have a 2007 fusion v6 FWD w/ 126,000 miles on it. I've always made an oil change within 5,000 mi and roughly 75% of the recent miles were long highway trips on cruise (100+ mi). During my last 2 oil changes (Aug 2014 & Nov 2014) the techs told me that I had very small leaks showing up on the engine, though I had not noticed any spots on the floor at home when checking. I tried a Stop Leak engine oil additive at 123,000 and by 124,000 I started seeing spotting on the garage floor. Now there are a few more spots and I took the car in to the shop to find out what's all leaking. I asked around and found a shop that was highly recommended by a vehicle fleet manager because they don't BS anything. According to the shop I have these oil leaks: - Both oil pan & gasket - Front crankshaft seal - Rear crankshaft seal - Camshaft seal They said they needed to pull the motor to fix everything and the bill would be roughly $2500, they did not recommend fixing it, but rather cleaning it and trading it. Which I'm now inclined to do. This car has spent it's entire life in harsh Minnesota and North Dakota winters, and has generally had 10% ethanol gas in it (it's almost impossible to find straight gasoline anymore here in the plains). Any other theories (besides the ethanol and cold weather factors) on why all of these went bad all at once? Thanks!
  10. Hi everyone:) So my '93 Camry recently died and now it's time for a new car. I love the look of the Fusion and from what I have read they seem like pretty solid cars. I wanted to ask for some feedback/information from some people that know more about the Fusion than I do... I'm aiming for a 2007. Does anyone know of any common issues this year model might have? Consumer Reports rated it "much better than average" but rated the electrical and climate systems only "average" while the Fusion got "better than average" or "much better than average" ratings for everything else. Also, what are some things I should be looking for in a Fusion that I might not realize I'm looking for? I seriously appreciate anyone who takes the time to read/respond/laugh at me. Thanks !
  11. I just picked me up a used 2007 Fusion SE that seems to be running pretty good. The new 2014 body for this model looks freaking great, but I will need to wait a few years before I can place my can in one of those. Till then I have this 2007 coming from an old 92' vigor. Anyway, I thought it would be a great idea to join this forum and get to know what fusion owner think about this car. I'm sure you guys have plenty of information. Hopefully, even for an older model such as mine. I'm attaching a picture of my new ride for your enjoyment. I'll read you guys around.
  12. I have a 2007 Ford Fusion that I love. Awhile ago the center button on the dash broke off along with the spring. I have tried searching for this part but have been unsuccessful. I was hoping that someone might now the name or part number for this or even where I can order it so I can get it fixed. I miss having that for storing my sunglasses and wallet while driving. I have a picture attached to what exactly I'm trying to find. Thanks for your help.
  13. Hi, I have a 2007 ford fusion. My front driver's side window got stuck in the down position. It only gets stuck when the window goes all the way down. Other then that it will go up and down. Whats wrong? Thanks for the help
  14. condensate on inside of windshield when the car is off not running and selector switch left in defrost mode and caught it the other day and i turned off defrost and it cleared up. now its still in defrost position and cars been sitting for 5 hrs off and windows up condensate on inside of my windshield and fan control is on 1
  15. Just out of curiosity, Has anyone else had issues with third gear being out of sync? When I bought mine new in 2007, i noticed the banging noise slightly but ignored it thinking maybe it was just a new transmission and probably need time to loosen up. But the noise got worse until i couldn't stand it any more, and fearing my 75,000 mile drive train warranty was coming up, i decided to get it fixed. Now she floats like a dream. I was told by the Ford Certified mechanic that third gear was off mesh by about a micron or so. They ended up replacing the whole transmission gear box and gears free of charge. NICE... So has anybody else experience this, or am i just lucky enough to have gotten a brand new transmission after 70k? Its nice to have a tranny thats only 25k miles old in a five year old car. But I got stuck driving a 2009 Fuckus as a loaner. I hated that car. But then again, I'm Fusion jaded.
