  1. I don’t know if this has been done, and it’s only out of desperation and money saving that I’m planning it, but im researching doing a backwards front conversion on my 2012 Fusion SE.ive searched junkyards and pull a parts in 4 states with no luck on a bumper cover or headlights, and i don’t have the dough to purchase a bumper or headlights new. The mounting points for the fenders, hood, radiator core support, and bumper cover all match up, I’m just wondering if anyone has done this before? I’ll try to keep updates of what I’m doing.
  2. I'm looking to install an aftermarket head unit in my 2012 SE without navigation. All of the dash kits I've found include the slot for the info screen. My new head unit will already display that information, so it is just a redundancy. Has anyone found a dash kit that abandons the stock info screen? Attached is a photo of what I've found available, as well as a stock bezel for the Navigation option which is what I'm hoping to find except with the regular non-nav control cutouts. I'd also be willing to do a swap for the stock Nav bezel. I know it's pretty involved and is not plug and play, I just haven't found information on everything that would actually need to be swapped. If I could find that info, I do have the skills to complete it.
  3. Just bought a 12 Ford Fusion SEL with sony sync and the stereo stopped playing sound. Had to take it to the dealer after 2 car audio guys were unsuccessful to learn the Sony amp has gone out and needs to be replaced. Which they quoted $860. Any recommendations on the cheapest route to just get sound back again? And does anyone know where the DSP amp is located?
  4. I have a 2012 Fusion SEL 2.5 with dual automatic climate control. I live in Phoenix and it's blazing hot here (115+). The car sits in my garage and is ~95-100 degrees during the day. The AC blows ice cold (40 deg) when first started and stays cold as long as I'm driving, regardless of exterior temperature. When I drive it somewhere and leave it sitting in the parking lot for ~20 minutes in 110+ degree heat, the AC will only blow cool air (~60 deg) after being restarted. It fluctuates a small amount during the drive home, but only slightly (50-60 degrees). I have checked the pressures after 1) sitting overnight (~100 degree garage temp), 2) running just after starting (AC working properly), and 3) when it was not cooling properly when restarting after driving. Here are the reading I see. 1) Cold, engine off - L:110 / H:110 (~100 deg ambient) 2) After idling in my garage for 5 min, AC blowing 40 deg - L:30 / H:240 3) After restarting and driving home, AC blowing 60 deg - L:30 / H:300 I also connected Forscan (I''m a noob with this) and tried to look at some AC parameters that I thought would be of value. The ACP_PRESS (high pressure?) correlates with the High side readings my gauges gave me each time I could check them. While driving and the temp blowing 60 degrees, was reading 300-350. I couldn't find a Low pressure reading. The Evap Temp was consistently 3 degrees cooler than my vent thermometer was reading, so my vent temp tracks the evap temp very well making it easy to monitor while driving. I'm at a loss as to what could be the problem, but I found one reference (that I can no longer find) that said the expansion valve is at fault. I've been trying to find a way to conclusively diagnose that, but am coming up empty. Any suggestions for me to try or additional data needed to diagnose? Thanks for any assistance!
  5. Daughter came home said the car was not shifting properly. Found transmission oil low. Topped up same checked Engine oil was over full. Changed oil and filter, drove away fine.2 weeks later checked again found same problem....? No oil on the driveway. red colour of oil on engine oil dipstick.
  6. Hi I’m new to this forum but I have a 2012 Ford Fusion SE that has multiple water leaks. The first is a leak on either side of the trunk where the jack trays are I’ve noticed that when it rains water collects in these areas. I’ve sealed some of the parts where the clips go through with silicone and it seems to have helped just wondering if this is a common issue on these cars. Also I’m waiting on a new sunroof as the seal has a gap and rusted the frame; I used some silicone on that as well to keep most water out until I can replace it (hard to get replacement with virus right now). The headliner only gets wet on the drivers side corner, however driving home today water started dripping out of the sunglass holder but the headliner in the middle is perfectly dry... would that be part of the sunroof issue? Or a possible issue with the windshield seal? The drains are also working by the way. Sorry for the long post I’m just hoping I can get this figured out any help is appreciated. Thanks
  7. I'm looking to replace on of my vent in the center. I'm having problems getting the storage unit out. After I unscrewed the two screws on top. There is still something in the middle i cannot get to. I do not want to just rip it out nor cut anything. I read somewhere their is a screw near the driver side foot. But I can't find it. If you know please post a picture of where it is if you can. Or a great description. Thank you.
  8. I have a light but pronounced burning, smoky smell in my car when using the blower. Any clues?
  9. Hi, I'm new to Fords and really to cars. I want to buy a used car - and love the way the Fusion 2012 drives ( love the handling, seat comfort, solidity of the car) so far. But, I have read all the horror stories about the transmission flares and bad shifting on this site and elsewhere. Has anyone figured out any remedies that resolve the transmission issue? now that it's 9-10 years later? Any chance Ford will actually recall these cars? (doubtful I am sure) How risky is it to buy a used 2012 ? Anyone NOT had this problem.... Lastly, any other years that are better and do not have this issue - earlier or later or do they all have it? Thanks!
  10. Good afternoon everyone, I have a 2012 Ford Fusion SEL with a 3.0L V6. I recently had the front windshield replaced. I have rain sensing wipers and all the sudden they do not work.... When you turn the knob once they cycle but after that they do not come on again. The only time they work is on high or ultra high. I was doing some research and cannot find anything on the rain sensing wipers for a ford, or any problems. I did however find different vehicles with rain sensing wipers and how a fix to this problem would be to reset the system.. Does anyone know if there is a way to reset it or what to do to get them to work again???? Thank you!!
  11. So, driving home through a snowstorm tonight, i accelerated at a stoplight and my Advance Trac light came on didn't turn off. No fooling around or anything. Traction control was on at the time of this happening. My message center also has the message, "Service AdvanceTrac" showing now, Any idea what could have happened? My Fusion is a 2012 AWD Sport with 93K miles.
  12. I need some help with some issues with the blend door on my mom's 2012 Fusion. She has had it to a couple of mechanics and they have been unable to find the issue as its intermittent. The AC will run ice cold for a spell (1 to 5 minutes) then kick over to full heat. When this happens the blend door actuator is turning the blend door over to full hot (I had my finger on it when it happened). It doesn't appear that the door is slamming closed like the gears are stripped. It slowly moved as if operated by the actuator. Once this happens it will blow full hot until you restart the car. Here is what I have tried so far: Replaced blend door actuator. Calibrate the blend door actuator with a battery disconnect (several minutes). Calibrate the blend door actuator by removing fuse 15 for 30 seconds, turning on the ignition for 30 seconds then replacing the fuse and turning on the ignition for 30 seconds. Disconnecting the blend door actuator and manually turning the blend door to cold. Blew cold for at least 15 minutes. I needed to cool off its about 90 out. At this point I am convinced that its a blend door problem (see 4th bullet above) and the compressor and radiator fan never kick off. It appears that turning off recirculate/max AC, changing the cabin pressure by rolling the windows up/down and changing the temperature setting all trigger this behavior. The blend door is not easy to turn manually when the blower is on full blast, with the blower off its fairly easily turned by hand (no tools). It almost appears the calibration cycle might be causing it to stick in hot. Anyone have any thoughts on next steps?
  13. I just recently entered the ford fusion family as i just bought a used 2012 ford fusion sport. great deal for it! its black and although new the rims have pretty severe scratches on the passenger sides. I asked my dealer if he could put rims from a 2013 fusion on it and he said it shouldn't be a problem. my question is will they fit? i want to black out the outside of my car (the wheels and the windows 20%) so was hoping to put these on Wheels - 18 Inch PVD Dark Chrome Kit So will these fit, if not does anybody know of ford brand rims that are 18in and black that will fit my vehicle thanks!
  14. I need a wiring diagram for an auto dimming rear-view mirror on a 2012 ford fusion SEL. I’m planning on installing a new backup mirror. I figure Blue wire for 12v+ and a black/yellow for 12v-. I also have green which I assume is ground. But I have two blue/light blue wire I don’t know about. I could really use some help. And to be clear the mirrors only feature is auto dimming nothing else. I’ve included pics. Also if anybody can give me the name of 16 pin connector that would be awesome.
  15. I took my 2012 Ford fusion into the dealer at about 15,000 miles because it was making a horrible noise in the engine bay. The technician determined it was a pulley bracket and after replacement the issue seemed to be resolved but the next day the check engine light came on and the car began running rough. I took it back to the shop and they determined the CVT solenoid had to be replaced (don't think this as a coincidence since it was worked on the day before). Ever since this repair the car seemed to make a ticking noise when cold and it seems to be getting louder over time. I've had it into the dealer 3 times over this noise and they keep telling me there is nothing wrong with the car and its normal engine noise. Please listen for yourself and provide me with any feedback you may have.
  16. I'm kind of in a big pickle here: In about a month and a half to two months, I'll be pulling the trigger on buying myself one of these beauts, however I'm kinda stuck in between two cars from two different dealerships, so I'm here asking for a little input from others. Both Cars are Ford Fusion 2012 Sports. Car A: This car has about 83k miles on it, and is all wheel drive. It also has pretty much all the major features that comes in a fusion of that particular year, the 2012 model, including the Navi. It even comes with a remote start! That really saves me the trouble of going to get it installed later. So yes, this car is a very nice looking car with all the bells and whistles. It costs about $14k with taxes and everything included, and it's being sold right in my home city. The bad part about the car is that it doesn't have any warranties, and the potentially crucial 83k miles on it. Car B: This car has about 43k miles on it, and is not AWD. It has nearly every feature of Car A, save for the Navi, but it does keep the reverse cam and BLIS. It doesn't have the remote start either, but again can be installed later with the tracking device I plan to put into it(can never be too sure). I can do without the Navi system as I do have a smart phone, but again it's always a nice add-on. The car is priced at about 17k after all the taxes and whatnot. This car also comes with a 1 year warranty from the dealership as its CPO'd and it comes with a 7 year power train warranty. The only thing is that the price of the car will mean I would have to hold off on any custom installations until after I can pay off the car some. It's also about 1.5 hours away from me. I know that 1.5-2 months could be a long time from now, and that cars like Car A could be purchased easily(however I have a feeling that many people will be spending their money on Christmas gifts rather than cars, unless the car would be considered the gift lol). Which car would sound like a smarter choice to make? Thanks for the help everyone!
  17. Hey, I've got a 2012 Fusion that I do so love. The chrome grill on it I have plasti-dipped, however being that it is the grill, the plasti-dip tends to chip a lot since I do a lot of back road driving (I live out in the middle of the country) I was wondering if anyone had any knowledge on where I can find one (reasonably priced of course, I'm ballin on a college student budget here). The only one I have been able to find that is not chrome is quite expensive for each piece. If you don't have ideas on where I could buy one, what about how I could get it permanently blacked out? Maybe professionally painted or some other DIY tips?
  18. I'm hoping this is the right place to be posting this, but I'm wondering if there is a real difference between between the '10-'12 models that would be noticeable. I plan on getting a Ford Fusion within a few months and I'm looking at a nice 2011 Sport version, however it's a 3 hour drive to get it while there's a nice 2010 model pretty much 20 minutes away. I'm trying to figure out if there is a real difference and if I would miss out on any decent updates if I decide to get the 2010 instead of the 2011 version. Thanks for helping in advance.

  20. Hi, I am in need of a few parts for my 2012 fusion. Hood Fender (Left & Right) Headlight Grille Assembly Front Bumper Insert Fog Inserts
  21. I have this system coming in, and it should be here tomorrow: http://www.pyleaudio.com/sku/PLCMDVR42 I am hoping that I can wire it into something up in the map light console, but I'm unsure if there's anything up there that would work. I have a 2012 Fusion SE and it is not equipped with a auto-dim mirror, just a standard old-school one with no cables/boxes coming out of the headliner. In the past (from experiences with my old mustang) I've noticed that Ford included the appropriate cables to plug-n-play add on accessories, but I'm not sure if that's still the case. If so, I could wire in to the cable that would be hanging out in the console not connected to anything. Does anyone have any experience with this type situation and could tell me if that cable is in there before I start taking my car apart? Also, if anyone has a wiring diagram for that cable could you post it for me?
