  1. So I've decided to install my old subs/amp that I used in my 2001 Ford escort zx2 into my new 2012 ford fusion SEL. I want to do so using the existing stock radio. My younger brother gave me a box with 2 10" Sony Xplods 1100 watt and a crappy alpine amp. But who am I to complain about free stuff!?! That's all I know about the subs, the screws are stripped hardcore. So, it wouldn't be easy to look at the backs... The amp stopped working for god know why, so I purchased a BOSS Phantom 2000 watt amp. Ph2.1000. Here's a link to one that's similar to mine: http://www.amazon.com/BOSS-Audio-PH2-1000-2000-watts-Amplifier/dp/B0032FOKT2 (2) 10" Sony Xplod 1100w (1) BOSS Phantom PH2.1000 2000w (S/N: 18878163) (1) 2 10" speaker Box My Fusion is from what I counted a 10 speaker sony sound system with a basic unit (non-nav screen). They said it was an 8 speaker from the Nissan dealership, but like I said, I counted 10. My brother installed the old system in my old car with an aftermarket radio and a random wiring harness. He hooked his up and helped a few of his friends so I just left it up to him. It didn't turn out great haha. It sounded good but we had to install a toggle switch and things such as my rear defrost stopped working so I knew something wasn't right. It slowly drained the battery, but it was just my highschool car so to me it didn't matter. SO, now i'm asking for guidance from you guys. I want to install myself, I want to do it clean and easy. It's what I think a rather small system and that's all I want. No competition system for me! I appreciate any sort of information!! Thank You!
  2. I was thinking of removing the lower grille and replacing it with more of the newer style fusion grilles. Is there a way to get it off without having to take the whole front bumper off? Also what do you all think of this style on the 2012 model? Oh and my fusion is tuxedo black with the monochrome black upper grille.
  3. From the album: custom ford fusion project

motegi racing wheels and 13% window tint all around
  4. I am the proud new owner of a 2012 Fusion SE 3.0 V6 FFV. Looking forward to participation in this forum. Been eyeing up these cars for a few years now and couldn't pass up the good deal on this used one. It's got 52k miles, it's black with the 17's and rides like a dream. I'm very pleased with it so far, and I've already gotten plenty of compliments from friends and family. I was seriously thinking about buying an old Lincoln LS just before I bought this, but driving them side-by-side, it's pretty obvious that this is a better car. The Fusion doesn't have quite as flat handling, but it's just as smooth and the transmission doesn't feel like it's going to drop out of the car every time it changes gears. It's also infinitely better on fuel. So glad I didn't make that mistake. I do have one minor complaint, and I bought the car without realizing this. The car was optioned without Sync. I didn't know it was possible to buy any 2012 model car without phone connectivity, but apparently I was wrong. I'd like to add a Bluetooth setup, but I'm not sure how to go about it. Is it difficult to use OEM Ford parts to add sync? I was thinking of grabbing the radio out of a wrecked one or maybe buying the right components from a dealer. Otherwise, I could just buy a kit and install a nice aftermarket unit in there. Thanks in advance for any input you guys might have.
  5. Hi all! I'm moving to the North Virginia region in about 2 weeks and I'm trying to purchase a vehicle before I arrive. I'm looking for a 2010+ Fusion 4Cyl in good condition with under 50K (Preferably under 40K). I'm not too worried about trim levels- SE at the least, but other than that not too picky, with the exception of fog lights, I really prefer fog lights. Other than that I'm just looking for something that gets good gas mileage and doesn't have any issues. I'm only wanting to spend about $13K or so, if you have anything please let me know! You can reach me here in the thread or at my email: sockeyesalmonslayer@gmail.com Thanks guys! Jon
  6. I recently bought a used 2012 Fusion SEL. I've had the apparently common issue where the blower motor makes an irritating buzzing noise kind of like a CD player or a rewinding VHS. I've been trying to repair the part as described by Wes Robinson in http://www.fordfusionforum.com/topic/7318-squeaky-blower/ before I break down and buy a new part. I've managed to get the part out, but cannot seem to pull the fan off as described. The fan seems to be attached firmly and I felt that pulling it harder would break it. Can anyone offer further advice or refer me to a picture or video guide? For reference, according to the dealership, my part number is AE5Z19805D. A picture can be found at https://app.box.com/s/pndvjtpmhchdj071wjxp As a disclaimer, I have nearly no experience with mechanical repairs, car related or not. It's possible that there is something trivial that I've overlooked.

  9. So I have owned my 2012 Fusion Sport for about 2 weeks and I wanted to share some thoughts and compare it to my experience with my 2006 SE V6. Ride: The most surprising and immidiately noticable difference was how well the Sport handled compared to my old Fusion. I had absolutely no complaints about my '06, but with a tighter suspension, I did not expect the overall ride quality to be so much better. It swallowed up expansion joints and potholes on Pennsylvania highways like they weren't even there, and of course, it dove into tight corners without breaking a sweat. Interior: The seats also felt like they went through a considerable redesign. They felt much more comfortable than the previous model. I also appreciated the additional cubby to the left of the steering wheel. Now for some criticism - and a few interior details are essentially my only gripe about the whole vehicle. I miss the change holder. Minor, but it came in handy on long trips with tolls. I also hate the placement of the mp3 input. I store all of my music on my phone, and who wants to store their phone in the center console? At least there's a pass-thru so that you can keep your phone/mp3 player in the cupholder as long as your cord is long enough. Luckily, mastering sync eliminates this annoyance. I'm not a fan of the ice blue spedometer cluster. I also hate the cheap-sounding noises the car makes at startup and when you turn on the turn signal. Exterior: I requested my sport in silver because I thought it looked best with the darker grille. I briefly considered blue but ultimately landed on silver because I felt it would age more gracefully. After living with the car for the past couple of weeks I definitely made the right choice. I still get a little giddy everyday walking through the parking lot when I see my new ride. It even looks good slightly dirty. My '06 was black and I vow to never own a black car again because it shows every spec of dirt and every blemish. I also find the car easier to wash than the '06. The '12 grille is far easier to dry off. Minor, but sometimes it's the little things. Audio: I requested a sport with the moon&tune package, and I've been pleased with the moon portion of the deal. I'm lukewarm on the tune part. Honestly, I expected a little more punch out of the sony audio system. It sounds fine, but it just seems like it should be a little louder and have crisper bass. I also miss the 6-disc changer my '06 had. I realize I may be one of the last person that still uses CDs, but I am used to popping in several CDs and not thinking about it until weeks later. So overall I love my new car. If I had to do it all over again I would probably change nothing and purchase the exact same car.
