I think this has been covered before, but I will ask it again. Most evryone says that going up one size in sidewall height e.g. 50 to 55 should not create a problem for the suspension geometry.
I read hat the tread to upper ball joint clearance is the most critical and then the inner fender lining.
I measured the diameter of the OEM tires on there by looking up the specs, measuring them, and checking the specs on the 225/55 R17 tires I want to buy.
The 55s are slightly less than .75" larger in diameter (.375" larger all the way around) The wheel opening clearance is larger than 2" around.
Has anyone done this one size taller upgrade without issues?
I went one side wide and one size taller with my stock 50 focus tires and had no issues previously for a much smoother ride.
So I figured one size taller and same width should not be an issue.
This might be the last set of tire I put on the car since it already has 100K miles on it.
Wear rating on this set is 700AA and MFGR says 70,000 tread life.
Input Appreciated.
