  1. 2015 Fusion with air only coming out of the defrost vents. The air will not come out of the driver side or passenger side front/feet vents no matter the selection mode. I am guessing its the air flap actuator (part number: 604-293--air flap actuator dorman). Where is this exactly? Driver side or passenger? From what I can find online, it seems to be on the bottom/under part of the dash. Thanks in advance!
  2. So I have a 2011 Ford Fusion SE that has been treating me well (Outside of a coolant system and power steering failure...maybe it hasn't been treating me well after all.) but now is having air conditioning issues. A few months back the air conditioning suddenly started blowing hot air but slowly worked its way back to cold air and worked fine for a few more weeks until it died completely. Interestingly, the air conditioning does work at night and early in the morning when it's not quite blazingly hot outside. I thought about buying an inexpensive can of air conditioning recharge to see if it could alleviate the problem, but even the cheap cans of those can be pricey, so I thought I'd query you guys first. The small amount of research I've done leads me to believe it could be the temperature sensor gone bad - but if that's the case would the system work at all? I assumed the sensor going bad would essentially kill the air conditioning overall. I don't believe it's the compressor since again it does work depending on the outside temperature. Any thoughts on the matter? Anything I should try myself before bringing it in for service and spending a paycheck or two on getting it fixed? Thanks guys/gals.
  3. Hey all, I have a 2011 Ford Fusion SEL, 3.0 L. The car was blowing ice-cold air one evening. I parked it, and the following morning it would only blow neutral / hot air. After taking it to 2 shops we've confirmed the AC evaporator discharge temperature sensor went out. The car is a few thousand miles over the 36,000 mile factory train warranty. Has anyone experienced a scenario like this and managed to get it repaired anyways? I'm kind of annoyed that I bought a fairly new car to avoid big hassles like this, and multiple things *transmission too* start going out right after "warranty." From what I've read, it's a 5+ hour project to get this little $20-30 part replaced because it's DEEP in the dashboard. If that's the case I suppose I'll just drive around without AC for awhile and do some research and attempt to fix it myself, though I'm no car person.
  4. Hey all, I have a 2010 Fusion SEL that has been having some A/C issues. (fyi its full of freon) A while back my fusion stopped blowing. After posting here and doing some inspecting, i noticed that the blower motor had gone as well as the resistor. I then switched out the blower motor and the resistor and it seemed to work fine. Fast forward to about two weeks ago, and my a/c again had cut off and i was upset. After looking at the resistor i noticed that the connector/pigtail had melted. I bought a new resistor and a new pigtail for it and spliced it in. I noticed that it wasnt blowing as cold as it should. It seemed like room temperature air. Sometimes it seems to blow really cold and sometimes not at all. It blows strong, but just not as cold as i want. I dont know why sometimes it works well and sometimes it doesnt. Usually does not though. Anyway, about a day ago I noticed that the passenger side was blowing really hot air. I am not sure why. That is where I am at now. I took a look under the glove box but nothing seems to be bad. I wonder if maybe this has something to do with my splicing job or what. I am going to maybe try to resplice it but its 100 plus here in Texas and i am way too fair skinned to be out there in direct sunlight and this heat. Maybe try in a few hours. Hopefully someone has some insight and advice. Anything is appreciated.
  5. Wife's car: 2012 SE, 4cyl, ~60kmi on it. While tracking down some sounds I decided to open the oil filler cap and noticed there's a ton of air blowing out of it. I'm an immigrant to Fusion forum land from F150 forum for my own vehicle. When I open the oil cap on my truck, there's no air exiting, so when I open the cap on my wife's car and notice air rushing out, the first thing I think is bad piston rings. My father in law disagrees, though. I searched and didn't come up with much. What's the verdict, is that normal for this engine? Anything I should check? I didn't do anything to troubleshoot yet since I don't know that this is a "problem."
  6. Anyone else have any issues with the air/fuel ratio sensor? Mine just needed to be replaced and I have a 2010 Fusion. Seems like this wouldn't already be a problem so soon.
  7. Passenger side of my 2010 fusion sport makes a dull rattling sound when I have the air on (doesn't matter the speed, or if its heat/AC, or where its coming from) as long as its on it makes the noise. I'm assuming something is loose, so is this something I can look into myself or should I bring it somewhere?
  8. I am interested in what you guys think on cold air intakes. This is my first car with an air intake resonator so I'm not sure what to do. Everyone knows a cold air intake gives you a few ponies, and makes the engine sound like it has some beef. The issue I'm struggling with is, is it worth removing the resonator and factory intake for a cai? From everything I am reading the resonator provides you with more low end torque, and I can attest to this being true as I removed the resonator briefly to see if there was a change in power. So my question is, is the loss of that worth the few hp you gain from the 240$ spent on a cai, or is it a wash? Am I better off just tossing in a K&N air filter and calling it a day? Any opinions are welcome, I really would like to know what you guys think on this.. even better if you have installed a cai and felt the change.
