  1. Hi all, I'm completely stumped and needing some help. I have a 2006 Ford Fusion SE with 96,000 miles. Last weekend it began running really rough, so I got it to an auto parts store and ran the codes. Cylinder 5 was misfiring. The ignition coil was cracked. I replaced the spark plug and ignition coil and tried starting the car. It started, but was still idling really rough. It ran for 10 seconds or so and then died. Then it would only crank, never fire. After reading up on this forum and others, I saw that it's common for the PCM to go bad when a coil goes bad. So I removed the PCM, and sent it to Circuit Board Medics. I also bought 6 new spark plugs and coils. When I got the PCM back, I changed out all 6 spark plugs and coils (yes, even the new one), reinstalled the PCM, and tried to start the car. But again, it only cranks and won't fire. I'm getting fuel and air to the engine, so I just need the spark. I really have no idea what else to check. At this point I'm wondering if the PCM repair was faulty. The company stresses that they program the PCM and so I don't have to when I receive it. It's also not the security system - when I turn the key to 'on' the security lights up for a few seconds and then turns off. Any other ideas? I'm completely stumped right now. Thanks for any and all help!
  2. Hi All, New to the forum and need some help. A few weeks ago on the way home my brothers car(2008 fusion V6 AWD) engine light comes on and it starts surging badly, and barely moving. He got it home and we took it to the mechanic to get him to do a diagnostic. The codes he pulled said the PCM and one of the coils needed to be replaced. So we sent the PCM off for rebuild, and bought 6 new coils and 6 new plugs and intake gaskets. Replaced all those tonight, and got the car back together and the car is still not running right. THe check engine light is no longer on, and it runs, but at low speeds it still lurches. Seems to surge, and shake. What have we done wrong? where do I need to start looking now? After spending 300$ on the dang thing and it still not running right we are wanting to drive it off a cliff. Help please.
  3. My dads 08 Fusion started having problems all of a sudden where the car was idling hard, had VERY low power (Especially when going up hills). We took it to our local Ford Dealership, and the next day they called and said that they where going to have to replace the PCM (Powertrain Control Module), the Coils (which had melted down) and the plugs! I have noticed that people on here have had the same problems, at about the same mileage! I have also noticed that NO ONE has had to pay ANYWHERE near what the dealership is saying it is going to cost us to get it fixed! Their ruff estimate is $3,000 to replace everything. So, is that a usual price? We were not given the option to get a refurbished PCM or anything! I have searched online and can get a BRAND NEW PCM for just at $300! Do you think that the dealership could be price gouging? Any info and suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks
