  1. This past week when pulling into my driveway I shifted my car into park and I could feel something give. I could not shift out of park after so I removed console to do it manually as shift interlock override was not working. I can manually shift but the dash indicator is obviously misaligned and it will never go into park or register on the dash as going into park (Only seems to recognize park when I kill the engine in neutral with handbrake on and then shift to park; thus releasing the key). Other than that I can get it to go into all other gears(R, N, D, M) with some "finagling". I took it into the dealer as this problem is above me and they just looked at it this morning (11/21/16) and they just called with a quote. They said the linkage was broken and I needed a new shifter assembly. At least that's what I think they told me over the phone. They stated they would have to pull the dash to install the new part and the price would be $1663 with labor. I realize labor is expensive but does it really take them that long to pull the dash; is this a reasonable price? I always trusted the dealer I used when I lived in Oklahoma but this now local dealer(Texas) told me in the past my wife's vehicle needed brakes but I took it to an excellent local mechanic(who is a good friend of my dad's) and they told me they were fine. So I don't know whether to trust this quote as it seems a little ridiculous? For now I'm gonna pass on fixing it as it still drives fine, I just have to manually release the lever to shift out of park which isn't a huge deal for know other than not having the console pieces in place Any and all help is appreciated. Info on car: 2011 Fusion SE Purchased Certified Pre-Owned in 2013 Has less than 40,000 miles. Filed complaint with NHTSA
  2. Hello all, I was wondering if anyone might be able to provide some insight or if I am worrying about nothing. I have had a 2016 Ford Fusion for a few months that I bought new in March. I just noticed recently that when I put the car in gear I feel it shift and start to grab, feels like it is a little rough for about a second or so, then I feel the car jump a little again and it is in gear then. I don't remember if it was doing this before and just didn't notice it previously. I don't hear any bad sounds or anything or have noticed any other drive ability problem. The only other minor thing to note that I have noticed is that when the car is cold, the first shift it makes from 1st into 2nd seems to be a bit rough. The car only has about 3.5 k miles on it at this time and have had the oil changed about 1.5k miles ago. Is this something I need to worry about and take it back to the dealer for or is this something that I am just over thinking about. Sorry if this seems to be a simple question but this is the first new car I have ever had. With my previous Taurus I was usually looking to fix stuff that I knew was breaking as I got that car used. Any input that you can provide on this I would greatly appreciate. Thank you for your time. Regards, TheArtiszan
  3. Hello I am going crazy here trying to find info anywhere I can on what could possibly be the issue with my vehicle. Trying to avoid any towing or mechanic fees unless last resort. My car was riding fine the day this issue began, Came home from store and parked the car, put it in reverse to adjust parking then slid it back into park. No unusual sounds or anything but the car was stuck in reverse on the dashboard and gear, but the shifter was in park and I then couldn't move it at all. Put the emergency brake on and turned the car off. Tried turning the car back on, but it wouldn't start due to it being in reverse. Cannot move shifter at all to move to any other gears its just stuck in PARK. Brake lights work fine although the brake pedal does feel a little bit tougher to push down. Does anyone have any info on what I should be looking at or where to start? Thanks so much for any help.
  4. Just out of curiosity, Has anyone else had issues with third gear being out of sync? When I bought mine new in 2007, i noticed the banging noise slightly but ignored it thinking maybe it was just a new transmission and probably need time to loosen up. But the noise got worse until i couldn't stand it any more, and fearing my 75,000 mile drive train warranty was coming up, i decided to get it fixed. Now she floats like a dream. I was told by the Ford Certified mechanic that third gear was off mesh by about a micron or so. They ended up replacing the whole transmission gear box and gears free of charge. NICE... So has anybody else experience this, or am i just lucky enough to have gotten a brand new transmission after 70k? Its nice to have a tranny thats only 25k miles old in a five year old car. But I got stuck driving a 2009 Fuckus as a loaner. I hated that car. But then again, I'm Fusion jaded.
