I have a 2009 Ford Fusion 2.3L and a few weeks ago I started noticing the rpm needle slightly jump for just a second and cause a vibration whenever the car was in idle or stopped at a light. The jump is no more than 100rpm (normally the needle hovers around 500rpm) and then it normalizes. The car drives just fine, no noises. This is not a regular occurrence, sometimes it does it and sometimes it doesn’t. Today was the first time it happened in about three weeks. I’ve also noticed that the issue could be related to the temperature outside. I live in Michigan and when the temps are considerably colder (20F and below), no flutter in the rpm needle occurs. But today the temperature was in the 40s and it started doing it. This time, I noticed that the coolant temp needle also slightly fluctuates when the rpm needle jumps. The temp needle doesn’t go beyond the halfway line and normally the needle is just below the half. I was doing some research online and it could be anything from the oxygen sensor to the spark plugs...I’m wondering if anyone has ever experienced this.

I'm noticing when my 2.0L is not fully up to operating temp, but not necessarily COLD, there is a loud exhaust note between 2,000-2,400 rpm. It's a new sound, car has 21k on it, bought it with 6k. Almost sounds like the exhaust has a hole in it. Does or has anyone else experienced this? It's quite annoying as I am a NYS Thruway commuter to and from work. I used to work for a Ford dealer but no longer have access to my OASIS account and can't look up TSBs. Also, I'm noticing all of the interior door belt moldings buzz when listening to music. THAT is annoying. I've had it to my local dealer for service and they installed a 'foam kit' to insulate the doors. That helped for a few weeks but now all of the doors are back to making their buzzing. Anyone deal with this too?

I just leased a 2014 ford fusion about a week ago, so I am still getting used to it. I finally got the sync system down (for the most part) but the thumb shifter confuses me a little. I was wondering if there was anyway to keep the automatic transmission from upshifting to run the rpms a little higher for faster acceleration? It seems as if the car usually jumps up a gear before I even get to use the shifter.
