  1. I have a 2012 fusion sel with the sync audio and Sony package. The sync touch screen displays fail safe mode. Is there anything I should do before I take it to a dealership?
  2. I have the 2013 Fusion and iPhone 7. I upgrade to the latest version of SYNC with MyFord (NOT MyFord Touch), and the Siri functionality was broken in this release. It makes it a bit of a pain as siri used to just come right through the speakers before but now, I have to mess with iphone settings in order to get siri to work... which saves me from interacting with my phone while driving. Anybody else have this issue? I was told by the Sync team at Ford that this was intended but I would love to roll back if possible.
  3. Hey Everyone, I have been searching around the forum and the internet and wanted to get in here and see if I can get some advice/thoughts from the community lets jump in. So I have The SYNC with MyFord with a basic 4.2-inch screen. I wanted to upgrade this to SYNC 3. I found two options and a How To. I can: Source the parts individually and install it myself which I read I can do starting at $400 Buy a kit from 4D Tech which is $1500 and install it myself Then I saw this puppy here which is a complete custom build that the creator did not seem to be willing to share the spec on Ford Fusion iPad Pro in dash upgrade Ideally, I'd like to do an upgrade like this without having to take out the vents, maybe a smaller tablet?, and create a kit for others who are interested but I if I have to stick to the Sync 3 upgrade I'll stick to that. Curious about your guys and gals thoughts on the subject. All ideas welcome.
  4. Hey Fellow Fusion Owners, I am on my 4th fusion and have just purchased an APIM module with navigation for my 2018 Titanium because it didn't come with Nav and i want it. my question is when i plug this in i am aware that it is plug and play for sync and i will have navigation, my question is will i have to go into Forscan and turn something on in order for the navigation tab to show up in the right hand screen of the Instrument Cluster? If so how does one do that? if anyone knows of a good step by step guide that would be really helpful as i don't want to screw something up in Forscan as I am not to mechanically inclined.
  5. Just bought a 12 Ford Fusion SEL with sony sync and the stereo stopped playing sound. Had to take it to the dealer after 2 car audio guys were unsuccessful to learn the Sony amp has gone out and needs to be replaced. Which they quoted $860. Any recommendations on the cheapest route to just get sound back again? And does anyone know where the DSP amp is located?
  6. Hello! I am new here, but I am thinking about purchasing a 2016 Ford Fusion but the salesman I am talking to is says that the car does not have sync 3 and therefore no Apple car play. However, the salesman says that the car has My Ford Touch which i thought was an earlier version of Sync. So, what I am wondering is should this vehicle be able to update and have sync 3 and maybe replace the hub with part #HC3Z-19A387-B, OR is it potentially impossible for the car to have car play without major work? This as a link to the vehicle that I am thinking about purchasing: https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/detail/825064924/overview/
  7. Just traded off my 09 Fusion 5 speed for a 12 Fusion with much less rust and miles. Trying to pair my phone to it and I keep getting “no phone” on the display. I’ve pulled the fuse and unhooked the battery in a attempt to reset everything with no success. I noticed there is no sync emblem on the console like my 09 or a USB port in the center console. This car was bought new by a older couple, was sync a option? I’m wondering if it wasn’t ordered with it. If so can I install the module and whatever else is missing? I’d assume the harness and connectors would still be there.
  8. Hi guys, Im looking for some wisdom. Recently I tried to update the sync version of my fusion 2013, Bluetooth and everything was fine but I wanted to install the update. Problem is, while installing the update I turned off the engine, by mistake and the installation process was interrupted, after that the screen doesn't show the menu of the buttons "phone and media", if I push any of this buttons the screen just blink and show me the radio station, and when I tried to hit the menu button only show the menu of the radio and audio station, I don't have access to do a master reset or anything related to sync. So far I've tried by disconnecting the battery ( positive and negative) , disconnect and connect the fuse 32 and 33 without luck. Radio, CD, Sirius and clock menu are working properly.
  9. Hello all, I'm new here, I have a problem with my 2016 Fusion SE and was hoping someone could help me. The Bluetooth says is synced but it is not, it won't sync with my phone or my husband's all of a sudden. Plus, I can try to re-sync or do a master reset because the phone button does not work! I have done it while in park and emergency brake on, like I read on the book, but still nothing.
  10. I purchased my fusion just a couple of months ago. It came to me with the radio not functioning, but after some light digging, all it turned out to be was a blown fuse. Just within this last week, I was using Bluetooth AutoPlay as I do every day, did nothing different, but for some reason "Addisen's Phone" stopped popping up on the screen, and now every time I increase or decrease the volume, it appears very quickly then disappears. I also am unable to access and sort of settings when I click Menu, wanted to perform a master reset but am unable to due to nothing popping up when buttons are clicked. There is still volume, and I am able to use the USB audio, but obviously isn't as convent as the AutoPlay is. The screen does work, displays everything else correctly such as the time, direction, or radio station. Already pulled the fuse, didn't help. Any suggestions?
  11. Yesterday my 2013 Ford Fusion's sync dropped my phone's blue tooth connection. It would not sync back up. I then deleted the device, reset the radio to the factory default. I had to do that before to get it to work. It will now not let me add my phone back. As soon as I click ok to start the pairing. I get a message back on my head unit that says. Pairing failed. Any suggestions?
  12. Hi Friends, I'm hoping I can get some troubleshooting help with the SYNC on my car. In February this year, my grandparents gifted me their 2011 Fusion SE 2.5 L 4-cylinder. It's in pretty good condition, only had 34,000 miles on it before they drove it here from Michigan (now about 35,500), and they had it looked at by technicians at their local Ford service center before they left the state, and there didn't seem to be anything wrong with it. The second day I had it, I got into the car, turned the key, heard a bunch of "clicks," but the engine wouldn't turn over, none of the lights would turn on, etc. My roommate and I tried to jump it, but we were unsuccessful, so my grandfather took it to the service center by my house the next morning and had the battery replaced. Since then, I haven't had any issues with it starting or running smoothly. The issue is really only with the Bluetooth/SYNC in the car. When I first got the car, I read over the manual for hooking my phone up and pairing everything. I was able to get everything all set without any issues. About two weeks later, I tried to play music/navigation through my phone via the Bluetooth option, and when I pressed the media button and said "Bluetooth Audio," my voice wasn't picked up at all. It would say "SYNC, please say a command" and I would say "Bluetooth Audio," but would get no response (it would wait a few seconds before telling me what my options to say were, and when I tried the other options it still wouldn't pick up my voice). When this happened I looked online and did a factory reset and re-added my phone, which seemed to fix the problem. A couple of weeks after that, it happened again, I did the same thing an had no issues. About two weeks ago, it happened again, only since then I haven't been able to fix the issue. I've tried the hard reset, turning Bluetooth off and back on on my phone and the car, turning my phone and the car off and back on to try and reconnect it, but to no avail. I did notice that when I go into my Bluetooth settings, the car says that Bluetooth is off, but the Bluetooth symbol is still popping up on my radio face, as if Bluetooth is on. I read online about possibly having to update the software for SYNC, but I'm unsure how to do this, and I highly doubt my grandparents ever did any updates since they didn't even know what I was talking about when I asked if the SYNC had ever acted up while they had the car. I will be the first to admit to my ignorance on this subject, so any insight is much appreciated. I will take it into the service center if I have to, but I'd rather not have to pay to fix the issue if it is something that I could fix on my own
  13. Greetings everyone, just registered as I have some audio questions/concerns. I have searched but haven't found anything relatable. I recently purchased a 2009 Fusion SE. Nothing about the stereo is working. I only get static on AM/FM, along with the SiriusXM preview. I don't own any cd's to test. The volume buttons and the radio seek buttons on the steering wheel work; nothing else does. My iPod plugged into the USB input detects the car (it displays the Ford logo). When I push the media or voice command button on the steering wheel, nothing happens, so I'm not able to access/play the iPod. I'm not 100% convinced that the SYNC hardware is even still in the car. I tried to activate the SiriusXM on a free trial, but we were unsuccessful. The tech support agent told me to get the radio ID and call back (we were unable to do so with the radio buttons). I removed the stereo to check for it and noticed a few things: 1 - the antenna plug appears to be broken. The factory radio should have a white nipple in the antenna plug - this nipple is actually attached to the end of my antenna cable, which is also missing the black retention sleeve. I put some duct tape around the cable to secure it in place - it worked slightly, but I still get more static than radio signal. 2. I noticed that the manufacture date on the radio is either 2005 or 2006 - it is hard to tell but I believe it predates SYNC's release. 3. The rear of the bezel has a wiring harness plugged in the back of the FUSION emblem; there are no pins in the bezel so it is not actually connected into anything, just plugged in. I have researched factory radios that are consistent with the year of my vehicle and have noticed some differences from the radio I have. Certain buttons have different labels, and they have a third plug next to the antenna plug, which mine does not. I have a sneaking suspicion that another radio had been installed, and an older replacement had been put back in when it was removed. This might also explain why Sirius was unable to activate my radio - because the original radio attached to this VIN is elsewhere. Since the current radio predates SYNC, would I be ok in just replacing it with a newer SYNC capable radio to get everything working, or is there something else I should look at first? Thanks in advance, Matt
  14. Finally.. the wait is over. Waze is now available for iOS device owners on Ford SYNC 3. You'll need to update to the latest everything (see below). Waze is free. Waze data is "crowd sourced" -- people on the road report accidents, police cars, and traffic jams -- which show up on your display in a minute or two (as compared to an hour with Sirius Traffic Link). It is a fantastic application (which is why Google bought it..). Here is my report.. To get Waze to work on my Ford I had to disable Apple Carplay through the Ford SYNC 3 settings before anything would happen. Activating Waze on the phone and plugging it in opened up new menus and displays - the key one being setting your default navigation software (a menu item that appears only when Waze is detected. There were glitches, and one crash. For a while when I plugged in the USB on the phone I got the dreaded "Inserted USB is not detected" message. I soft rebooted SYNC 3 and power-cycled my phone and things straightened out. Here is a demo video- sadly done in the garage instead of on the road (not safe to drive and film), but you get the idea.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V6ntZrJ1bpM Wazer since 2013 2017 Ford Fusion Hybrid SYNC 3, v3.0 Build 18025 iPhone X iOS 11.2.6 Waze 4.37.0.0
  15. I bought a SD card for my 16 Fusion SE and have 877 songs on it. Lately it constantly says Indexing Device, even if I pull the card out and reinsert it. Not sure what else to do.
  16. I have 2016 Ford Fusion equipped with SYNC with My Ford Touch. My SYNC screen not recognizing the navigation SD Car and USB Port which is located in box under arm rest. The light around the USB Port is working but the system does not recognize anything attached in that box.
  17. I have a 2012 fusion (not sure on exact model, but I'm pretty sure it's a sel) and I recently bought a 128gb flash drive to use to store my music because what I have been using, a 32 gb zune HD, is full and I wanted room for all my music. I put it in this morning and it said something like "sync voice commands not available" and started playing the music. Then I tried to go to the menu on the screen to find a specific song it would flash "indexing" and then go back to the precious screen. So without going back to the zune I'm stuck on shuffle, anyone know how to make it work? (If possible?)
  18. I have a 2013 Fusion. I usually listen to music via Bluetooth thru SYNC, but notice every time I get in the car and start it, I have to navigate thru 7 or 8 keystrokes to get to this option. Is this normal, or is there a method to set this up for quicker access?
  19. Hi, I recently got a 2014 Ford Fusion S that has the 4" LCD screen. I am trying to find a good option to get SiriusXM installed on it as it did not come factory with this car. I tried a VAIS GSR unit, only to find out they don't support my version of sync. I then started looking at all of the Kenwood touch screen radios that support idatalink maestro to keep my sync functionality. However, now I am finding out that the fusion isn't even compatible with these. Has anyone else faced this issue? I want a good way to get SiriusXM installed in my car without having a 3rd party piece of equipment hanging off my dash. Any help/direction would be appreciated. This car has been one headache after another when trying to upgrade it, whether it be wheels, or the interior, it just seems to be so rigid and incompatible with what is out there today.
  20. Ok, been a while and this needs some background. I have arranged this as a daily log to help understand the sequence of events and actions performed. Please be patient! This is a 2010 SE with SYNC/Moonroof package. 3.0L with select shift auto, single CD, Sirrius, and base SYNC (no LCD or MyFord). Up until a couple weeks ago, absolutely no problems with this car. Day 1 About 5 degrees outside, car slow to crank but starts. Day 2 Same issue but still starts but now center display stuck on "Ford Fusion". Compass heading IS displayed, but no clock, no SYNC, and no audio Day 3 Battery dead, won't jump. Charged after work and car started, but still center display/no audio/no SYNC problem. Cleaned terminals Day 4 Battery dead. Assumed either audio control module (ACM) and/or SYNC module. Removed and checked fuses for radio, SYNC module, and 5V radio crank sense. I left fuses out Day 5 Battery dead. Autozone tested and said it was bad. Replaced battery and all fuses. Still center display/no audio/no SYNC issue, but no battery problems Days 6 - 9 Drove car for these four days without battery problem. Fender-bender on day 9 due to snow and parked car because of fender, hood and door damage Day 11 After parked for two days, battery dead. Removed and charged overnight Day 12 Performed battery current parasitic draw test. Initially, draw was 920 mA (0.92A). Let sit for 20 minutes to let FREDs go to sleep. Draw was then 520 mA (0.52A). Everything I've read (while finding nothing specific to this car) states draw should be between 20 and 35 mA (0.02A - 0.035A). Of course this varies by make, model, options, etc., but most agree that anything above 40 mA (0.04A) is suspect, while anything over 100 mA (0.1A) is definitely a problem. Note here that after messing around with ammeter a few times, turned key on to lower window and center display/audio/and SYNC came on like nothing ever happened. But current draw still too high, but less at 360 mA (0.36 A) So, with ammeter connected, began pulling interior fuses one at a time until current draw fell to within what I considered acceptable, which is between 20 and 35 mA (0.02 A - 0.035 A). Only got 10 fuses out until I located the circuit. This is fuse 26 (10A) and identified as "Instrument Panel Battery Power". Started putting all fuses back in one at a time except that one 10A. Draw only went up to 20 mA (0.02 A) and never increased. As soon I put fuse 26 back in, current draw spiked to 360 mA (0.36A). Removed fuse and draw settled back down to ~20 mA. With the fuse out, the car will start and run but no idiot lights, no gages, no center display/audio/SYNC, no passive alarm light blinking with car off. All other accessories work fine. My conclusion is that there must be an interface between the instrument panel and the center display. I conclude this because 1) it was working before I removed the fuse in question, and 2) the compass heading is no longer displayed. And since the display was the first thing to go out in the first place, there has to be a correlation here. So the problem appears to lie in the instrument panel, its wiring, and/or the interface (if one exists) between it and the center display. WHEWWW! Several requests: Does anyone here have a good electrical diagram that would show this (or a wiring diagram for this car, particularly one showing the instrument panel-ACM-SYNC-instrument panel interconnects)? Has anyone experienced this themselves? Is there a savvy Ford tech on here that can help to isolate the problem and perhaps advise as to how to fix it? I know modern instrument panels are basically circuit boards, but there are several connections to it. If I can isolate the connected component as the actual misfit causing the battery drain, that would be awesome (understanding that it could end being the instrument panel itself that needs replacing). But if its a bad plug or wire, then I can fix it. Thank you everyone for your patience. Grumps
  21. Add OEM Navigation to your MyFord Touch equipped vehicle!!! No visit to dealer is needed! For those who wish to install OEM FORD GPS NAVIGATION on their Ford Fusion. It will fits only Ford Fusion models 2013-2015 with MFT 8" touchscreen and SYNC 2 module. In addition should be manufacturer part numbers match: DA5T-14D212-RB or DJ5T-14F239-DB. The item is slightly used, taken from 18k car. see link http://www.ebay.com/itm/231776198634?item=231776198634&viewitem=&sspagename=ADME:L:LCA:MOTORS:1123&vxp=mtr
  22. Hi fellow sync users, new to this site, as well as my recently bought Fusion. it is an 09 Ford Fusion SEL, It has Sync compatibility, also has the AUX and USB ports in center console. whenever i press the phone button to add a new phone it says NO PHONE. I cannot even get into the phone menu or system settings. I have pulled and replaced the SYNC fuse, as well as pulling the battery lines to reset the whole system in the car, still no luck. whenever i put an AUX cable or USB in, the radio does not detect any of those features. It only works on radio & CD function. Help please, I would like to access all of the features my "new" car has to offer. Thank you.
  23. Hello all I have a 08 Fusion 6 disk w/ MS sync that loudly clicks repeatedly in four distinct sets every time I unlock the car and start up the enigine. Any known fixes for this?
  24. I've been reading into this issue for about 2 days now because my car now says USB empty when I select it. I bought the car in April and everything was working fine but last month I was in car accident. The car was given back with all OEM parts and everything was working except the USB port. I am bringing the car back to the Autobody garage once they get a part that I found still broken but that won't be for a week. Figured I might as well try to fix the issue. Here is a list of things I have tried and symptoms: Unplugging battery for 20 minutes then reattaching removing fuse 13,15,32,33 waiting 5 minutes and plugged back in powering down my iPod and turning it back on Can't install sync software again because I'm already on the newest one Tried toggling the accessory key turn repeatedly Master Reset of the sync Factory defaults of the sync Tried 2 different phones and 2 different iPods Tried 3 different cables USB option always says empty even when nothing is plugged in USB doesn't charge anything Bluetooth works fine for audio playing and phone calls My question is what else can I try? Additionally there is no fuse labeled Sync in the 2014 manual so I'm not entirely sure 13, 15, 32, or 33 were correct. Manual here: http://www.fordservicecontent.com/Ford_Content/vdirsnet/OwnerGuide_EU/Default.aspx?bookcode=O23578&market=US&language=EN&VIN= After I remove the fuse, should I have started the car? I'd prefer not to bring it to Ford because I just found out my dealership, the scammers they are, won't give me a loaner vehicle when I drop mine off because I don't bring my vehicle to them for service (I am not paying $60 every other month, I drive 23k annually, for an oil change, I've done my own since I started driving and I do keep receipts). I do plan on bringing it to them every 10k miles which the sales rep even said was fine and off course the only time they are open is when I am working. It has to be the USB port isn't being detected because all these devices use to work before the accident. Any other tips?
  25. I am the proud new owner of a 2012 Fusion SE 3.0 V6 FFV. Looking forward to participation in this forum. Been eyeing up these cars for a few years now and couldn't pass up the good deal on this used one. It's got 52k miles, it's black with the 17's and rides like a dream. I'm very pleased with it so far, and I've already gotten plenty of compliments from friends and family. I was seriously thinking about buying an old Lincoln LS just before I bought this, but driving them side-by-side, it's pretty obvious that this is a better car. The Fusion doesn't have quite as flat handling, but it's just as smooth and the transmission doesn't feel like it's going to drop out of the car every time it changes gears. It's also infinitely better on fuel. So glad I didn't make that mistake. I do have one minor complaint, and I bought the car without realizing this. The car was optioned without Sync. I didn't know it was possible to buy any 2012 model car without phone connectivity, but apparently I was wrong. I'd like to add a Bluetooth setup, but I'm not sure how to go about it. Is it difficult to use OEM Ford parts to add sync? I was thinking of grabbing the radio out of a wrecked one or maybe buying the right components from a dealer. Otherwise, I could just buy a kit and install a nice aftermarket unit in there. Thanks in advance for any input you guys might have.
