  1. Hello Everyone, After having my tires rotated, I started to experience my steering pulling to the left intermittently and feeling a bit loose. I took it back in to have an alignment done since I have a lifetime agreement at my local pep boys. It did not resolve the issue. I needed to have the PCM updated to fix the wrench light, so I decided to take it in to get diagnosed by the dealership. They are very adamant that the issue is with the rack and pinion, which they tried to get me to replace before. Long story short, it turned out to be an issue with one of my tires. It's been about 4 years since then and I haven't had a single issue with my rack and pinion. They are now trying to charge me $3000 for the repair, but I declined and just got the update and a coolant flush on my engine/mect. When I picked up the car it is now pulling to both the left and the right intermittently. I looked at the notes and it appears the tech crossed rotated the tires. It doesn't appear that the tech did any other diagnostic work to rule out an issue with the sensor. Before I went into the dealership, I ran the codes and took a screenshot. I reset the codes, so I could get my power steering working again. I did have the typical service power steering light come on along with my abs and traction control lights. I am thinking that the issue is a bad steering angle sensor. I wasn't sure at first, but I saw a few youtube videos of other fords having this issue and it turned out to be a sensor issue. I wanted to check and see if anyone has an opinion or has experienced this issue before. If you have any information on possible diagnostics/calibrations I can do through forscan (I have the full license), that would be helpful as well. here are some of the videos I looked at: (I was having a hard time finding english videos) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sWgY7FDNFt0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mc59s9JbpDw&t=608s https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BsjZfI13fLQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ed-KsE9m870&t=5s I wanted to thank everyone who helps on this forum. I have been able to get through quite a few issues and I am very appreciative of everyone's efforts.

  3. 2010 Fusion SE 2.5L Hello, I'm new to the site, I've never had to post on a Forum before now but here I am because I can't find any answers on the internet. I will go into detail of all the events in case someone else has the same issue. About a month ago, I replaced my battery and made the mistake of connecting it the wrong way. My excuse is that it was dark out, oops. The terminals were only connected to the car for a split second because when I connected the car's ground wire to the positive terminal on the battery, I saw the sparks and realized I was an idiot. Repositioned the battery properly, connected the terminals and started the car. Everything was fine except the radio and some button backlighting wasn't working. I figured I was lucky. After checking all the fuses and replacing the blown ones, the radio and the backlighting work again. But then, a couple days later I was driving home and the "Service power steering now" and "Service advancetrac" warning messages popped up but the power steering still worked. UNTIL, I got home, turned the car off then turned it back on and at that point I had lost power steering. Fast forward a month of researching online and taking the car to a shop to diagnose, they said that the steering angle sensor was reading something like 2000 degrees to the left but the PCM seemed to be fine. I didn't want to pay them to do anything further so I wrote down the codes and decided to order a new steering angle sensor. However, when I finally took off the steering wheel and clock spring to replace the sensor, I found that in the space where there was supposed to be the sensor, there was an empty hole and I did not see any dangling wire behind the steering column to plug into my new sensor. Am I missing something here? Does the clockspring in the 2010 SE 2.5L contain a steering angle sensor inside it? The steering angle sensor part number: 6L2T-3F818-AC Here are the codes that came up: U0253 "Lost communication with accessory protocol interface module" U0028 "Vehicle communication Bus A" C1277 "Steering wheel angle 1 and 2 circuit malfunction" Any help will be greatly appreciated, thanks!
  4. My daughter's 2014 is starting to exhibit a strange behavior. When going down the road about 40 and following a curve to the left, the car all of a sudden turns a bit sharper and have to ease off the steering input to correct. Had it checked and mechanically, it seems fine. Suspension is tight. No lights on the dash but the technician thinks the car may have a primitive lane departure or a steering sensor not in spec. Obviously, I have goggled the issue, but found nothing specific on this issue. Any suggestions, would be appreciated.
  5. Forgive me as I am sure this has been asked somewhere before. Earlier today my Ford Fusion lost all power steering capabilities as well as lane departure. After looking online I see there is a recall for this (#15v250000) however my VIN is not listed in said recall. I live in western new york and drive on salt/snow covered roads constantly (I see this is the reason for the recall, the salt corrodes away the pins that hold the assembly together). I called the dealership I bought the vehicle from and spoke with a secretary who told me the same. Is this something I am going to have to pay out of pocket to fix? Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. My next step is to contact Ford directly (good luck with that lol). Thanks in advance.
  6. I had a 2016 SE with the Sync and Tech package. One thing I loved was controlling the climate through the steering wheel and right-hand LCD. I now have a 2017 Titanium and the climate section is no longer accessible in the right-hand LCD. Does anyone know why this has been removed, and if it can be added back?
  7. A few days ago I had the Service Advance Trac and No Hill Assist messages come up on my dash, all power steering was lost. I finally got my car towed to the garage today to find out that there was corrosion all around the motor for the power steering where it is mounted to the steering rack. The rack is actually broken. I have seen posts all over the internet about these warnings on the dash, but not everyone has posted the outcome. Can you please let me know if you have had your steering rack actually break. Of course my car is just out of warranty, but the rack was only covered on the bumper to bumper, so any help from Fords is unlikely unless I can prove this has happened to other people. All the posts about the warnings are not good enough unless I can see that others have had their racks break on a 2013 Fusion. I am the first car my dealership has seen this happen too, and the car has been in for every maintenance and recall to date...
  8. I just bought a Ford Fusion SEL 2006 and noticed that the steering is stiff relative to the Ford Escape FWD (4 cyl). The salesman said that the stiffness is a typical behaviour for the Ford Fusion. However, according to the User Manual (pg 163) "..the steering in your vehicle is speed sensitive. At high speeds, steering assist will decrease to improve steering feel. At lower speeds, maneuverability will be increased". I'm not noticing any difference in steering maneuverability between highway driving and city driving -- the steering is stiff all the time. What would cause this problem? Also, I disagree with the Salesman's opinion regarding the steering behaviour of the Ford Fusion. Thanks in advanced,.... Ray
  9. Alright folks, I need a little advice again. I have started hearing a noise when my engine is at idle or very low rpm coming from what I think is the power steering rack. It had occurred intermittently over the past 6 months or so but just recently became an everyday occurrence. The car is a 2007 Fusion SEL 2.3 automatic. when turning the steering wheel (to the left only) while moving slowly forward or reverse, I get a loud groan and I can feel it in the steering wheel ( sounds like the pump is trying to pump air, not fluid) when it happens the steering is still assisted, but harder than normal. If any of you have an idea what this might be, I would appreciate your input
  10. Hello everyone, Is there any way to adjust the feedback of the steering on the 2012 Ford Fusion Sport 3.5l? It seems to be a bit light on the highway, where I would appreciate less of a feedback. I would say it's too busy when on the highway constantly requiring a need to compensate from left to right and vice versa. In my older Fusion 2007 SE, I can let off the steering wheel for a while and the car runs straight ahead without a need to compensate. I asked the dealer, he says there is a setting for Sport, Standard and Convenience modes, but I can't seem to find it either in the manual or anywhere in the vehicle settings. Probably because it's not even there due to the hydraulic type of steering in F.F.Sports, but I might be incorrect and hope someone might clarify it for me. The vehicle is 2 months new, tires are balanced and in good condition.
  11. I have a 2011 fusion SE. the the alignment has been a little off, pulling the car to the right while holding the wheel straight, causing me to have to turn the wheel a little to the left to actually drive straight. The dealer did an alignment and but nothing was corrected. when i asked them about it they told me that fusions are prone to drifting and there was nothing they could do. They also told me that there was no way for them or any other ford dealer to duplicate the exact factory setting for the electronic power steering system that's in the fusion. Has anyone else had this problem or am i just getting the run around from my dealer???
