Hey Everyone, I have been searching around the forum and the internet and wanted to get in here and see if I can get some advice/thoughts from the community lets jump in. So I have The SYNC with MyFord with a basic 4.2-inch screen. I wanted to upgrade this to SYNC 3. I found two options and a How To. I can: Source the parts individually and install it myself which I read I can do starting at $400 Buy a kit from 4D Tech which is $1500 and install it myself Then I saw this puppy here which is a complete custom build that the creator did not seem to be willing to share the spec on Ford Fusion iPad Pro in dash upgrade Ideally, I'd like to do an upgrade like this without having to take out the vents, maybe a smaller tablet?, and create a kit for others who are interested but I if I have to stick to the Sync 3 upgrade I'll stick to that. Curious about your guys and gals thoughts on the subject. All ideas welcome.

Have a brand new 2018 Fusion SE with Sync 3. Everything had been working fine with the exception of the system locking up on occasion. Turn it off and let it sit for about 5 minutes and was back in business. Having an issue now where my ac will work fine, until I plug my phone in the USB port. Then it just blows hot air! It does this every time! I’m currently at the dealership having it looked at, but wondering if anyone else has had this issue and what was the cause/solution? Going to post this in the Sync thread as well in case it belongs there...

2017 SE Hybrid with Android Auto and my cheap $1 Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge. I've been using Google Maps instead of the built in navigation as I like the delays listed by Google Maps. However, with a cheap USB micro cable I was constantly getting Android Auto crashes or (MTP? transmission protocol?) error messages, or the most annoying approve / deny permission dialog for something or the other. Even after repeated approvals, it would rarely run. Sometimes Google Maps would be running just fine, then the display would go blank and offer Nav instead of (Google) maps, then Maps would re-appear. Loop through this a few times and it gets frustrating. And, the cheap cable I had wouldn't charge my phone while running Google Maps, it would simply hold the charge. I replaced my cable with yet another cheap(er?) cable I had in my Focus which would execute Google Maps on the phone and charge the phone rather rapidly. Surprising since the phone's display is in use on my Focus. On Android Auto in the Fusion of course the display is dark. But this cable is a USB A to USB mini 5 pin (like for cameras), then I have a 3 inch USB mini 5 pin to USB micro adapter which I plug into the Galaxy S6. So far, Android Auto / Google Maps has run flawlessly which is quite surprising considering the cable looks even cheaper AND I have to make yet another connection from cable to adapter. It also charges my phone very nicely while executing Google Maps. Buy hey, if it works it works. I assume Android Auto and even Google Maps alone passes much data between phone and Sync 3 so the lesson in all this is cable quality / connectivity is paramount to a good experience. Android Auto doesn't appear to gracefully handle data connectivity issues which I'm going to assume the previous cable wasn't providing adequately.
