  1. I want to add a subwoofer to my 2018 ford fusion, i am going to run a 2 channel amp for the front 2 speakers (6.5 inch kenwoods) 100 RMS, then add another amp for a subwoofer. i have a line out converter to use by NVX (xlca2) similar to the audiocontrol LC2i. my question is would it be okay to tap into the rear deck subwoofers instead of tapping into the rear door speakers? my main goal is to not have to take out the factory stereo. I know the rear deck subwoofers have a amplifier to power them so i wasnt sure if they had a crossover that would mess up signal going to the loc or if it would be okay to tap into those instead of the rear doors. I was going to run 1 power wire to a distribution block to power both amps, then ground both. either the rear door/rear deck subwoofers to the LOC, then also power the loc with its own power wire from the battery or add it to a pre existing fuse. If anybody has used those rear deck subwoofers to run a amp let me know if its possible and how it turned out, if nobody knows then i will just stick with tapping the rear door speakers.
  2. I decided to fiberglass my driver and passenger door panels to house 3 speakers each.
  3. I experienced a loss of audio on the left side of the car. I replaced the two component speakers in the front left door (woofer and tweeter) with brand new speakers and am still having the same problem. The audio installer checked his work and says all his connections are secure. The audio on the left side cuts down to about 25% of what it should be. I noticed one time that it cut in and cut out when going over a large bump in the road. I noticed several other posts in this forum relating to loss of audio on the left side, but they all specifically referenced it happening only when listening to FM radio. I listen only to music on a USB thumb drive. The vehicle is a 2010 Ford Fusion SEL with I believe the moon and tunes package (speakers are all Sony). If anyone has any information regarding this issue I would be very grateful if you shared it! Thanks!
  4. (2017 Ford Fusion SE Luxury) Hello All! I was wondering if anyone would think if its a good idea to switch my regular amp (SE Luxury) to a Sony Amp from a Titanium. Hoping it would make the speakers sound better. And if there is any wiring diagrams that would be appreciated too. Thank You!
  5. I tried to do a sync update, but the update did not work due to error 14. Since I drove the car home from work (I work at a dealership) once I shut the car off and the radio kept on playing after the car was off and the drivers door open. I doubt it could be a door switch as it is a 2018. I have tried taking the negative terminal off for anywhere from 10-30 minutes. I am going to try and leave it off overnight and see if that helps but anything helpful would be fantastic.
  6. I have standard 6 speaker, non-Sony, audio. in the last two days, there ease a loud static/crack out of the driver door speakers. The audio cut out but came back until the last time when the audio didn't come back. All audio controls have power and display works and responds to menu selections, but none of the normal audio responses occur. Also, voice commands are responded to by the system. i checked audio related fuses and they seem fine. Other threads indicate there may be a bad speaker or tweeter. Before I blindly order replacement speaker and/or tweeter are there other things to diagnose?
  7. Hey guys, I have a 2010 Fusion SE, no major bells and whistles other than SYNC and I started my car this morning and noticed that the speakers were cutting out for about a second every 5 seconds like clockwork. Initially, I thought it was the station I was on but I tried all of the inputs (Phone, Bluetooth audio, AM, FM) and the same thing is happening with all of them. There is no popping sound or anything and the power seems to be working fine to the main unit. Very puzzling - even my mechanic was stumped. Has anyone ever seen this kind of issue with their fusion? It seems very strange and I really don't have hundreds of dollars to pay an electrician to test everything.
  8. Hey everyone, new to the forum. I have a 2011 sport 3.5L. I have a sub and amp I'm wanting to hook up, but I don't want to go aftermarket on the head unit. I am not extremely good with audio, but I am decent at wiring. Was just curious what I would need to wire the amp and subs to my factory radio? Wouldn't mind losing steering wheel controls if I had too. Unsure of what the SYNC really is, don't know if I've ever used it. I only use the aux on my phone. Lol. Thanks a lot!
  9. Hi I need help. I have ford fusion titanium 2013. Yesterday my car's bettery was dead so, I called my friend to boost bettery with booster cable. I don't know what had happen to my music system after that my touch screen is working only for navigation and climate control. I cannot access to music and there is no voice in speakers aswell. Can please anyone help me with this. My car is out of warrenty now. Is there any way I can correct this issue ? Thank you.
  10. Here is a blog post where I explain how I upgraded my speakers in my 2015 Ford Fusion SE. http://mrwizstechblog.blogspot.com/ I hope this helps if you plan to do the same.
  11. Hi fellow owners. I have a 2016 Fusion S with the base My Ford system with (I believe) a 4" screen and 4 speakers. My question (I'm sure has been asked a million times. I do apologize) is it possible with current Ford wiring, to switch it out my head unit for a 2013-16 My Ford Touch system? With the proper face plate of course. I have a big salvage yard in town, and I went to price a factory system, they told there are so many different combinations that I would need to know exactly what I was looking for. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks everyone.
  12. I have hooked up a sub and amp to a 2015 ford fusion titanium and i cant figure out how to disconnect the ANC ( active noise control) microphones so that i dont have this horrible feedback in my car if anyone could tell me where there are or pictures of them and thier locations that would be much appreciated.
  13. I am having a distortion problem with my audio system starting about 2 weeks ago. All channels have distortion even the SYNC voice is distorted. I've owned this car since April 2010 and have never had any problems with the stereo until starting two weeks ago. Distortion comes over AM, FM, Bluetooth, USB, SYNC everything. I've done the factory reset and a recent SYNC update. Currently I've got the battery disconnected to see if that helps. I'm not optimistic. If having the battery disconnected overnight helps I'll return and report my findings tomorrow.
  14. I would like to upgrade our newly purchased 2015 Fusion Hybrid SE audio system to the Titanium Sony Premium Audio system with HD Radio. Could someone please advise how to do this with our Ford dealer? We have the SE Hybrid Luxury Package and the SE MyFord Touch Hybrid Technology Package with Navigation etc.... We would like to upgrade to the Sony Premium Audio system which includes HD Radio. In the owner's manual, there are two systems pictured SE Hybrid Audio System, page 323, with caption: E144489 Sony Premium Audio System, page 324, with caption: E144490. We would like to change out what we have for the Sony Premium Audio System and it looks like the sizes are the same.. There has to be a way. From some research it shows a different module behind the unit for HD Radio. We don't need the additional speakers, just the HD Radio part. If the price is $3,000 I would be VERY interested. If the price is $35,000 (basically purchase a new car) then it would be very sad for me.
  15. Hi All, My rear deck 6x9 sub speakers are blown and I just want to replace them without upgrading the amp. Does anyone have experience with this? Are they in fact 2 Ohm sub speakers? Would I be wasting my time with buying a 3-way speaker and dropping them in? If so, can anyone suggest a simple sub replacement? Many Thanks in advance. KB Reply from akirby (for some reason I don't have permission to reply to topics in this sub forum. Go figure....) I replaced mine with either pioneer or kenwoods with good bass response. It was several years ago so I'm not quite sure. You can find 6x9 drivers online but they're rare.
  16. So I've decided to install my old subs/amp that I used in my 2001 Ford escort zx2 into my new 2012 ford fusion SEL. I want to do so using the existing stock radio. My younger brother gave me a box with 2 10" Sony Xplods 1100 watt and a crappy alpine amp. But who am I to complain about free stuff!?! That's all I know about the subs, the screws are stripped hardcore. So, it wouldn't be easy to look at the backs... The amp stopped working for god know why, so I purchased a BOSS Phantom 2000 watt amp. Ph2.1000. Here's a link to one that's similar to mine: http://www.amazon.com/BOSS-Audio-PH2-1000-2000-watts-Amplifier/dp/B0032FOKT2 (2) 10" Sony Xplod 1100w (1) BOSS Phantom PH2.1000 2000w (S/N: 18878163) (1) 2 10" speaker Box My Fusion is from what I counted a 10 speaker sony sound system with a basic unit (non-nav screen). They said it was an 8 speaker from the Nissan dealership, but like I said, I counted 10. My brother installed the old system in my old car with an aftermarket radio and a random wiring harness. He hooked his up and helped a few of his friends so I just left it up to him. It didn't turn out great haha. It sounded good but we had to install a toggle switch and things such as my rear defrost stopped working so I knew something wasn't right. It slowly drained the battery, but it was just my highschool car so to me it didn't matter. SO, now i'm asking for guidance from you guys. I want to install myself, I want to do it clean and easy. It's what I think a rather small system and that's all I want. No competition system for me! I appreciate any sort of information!! Thank You!
  17. I have a 2010 Ford Fusion SEL with the Sony System. I am wanting to add an aftermarket amp and subwoofer on top of the subs in the back deck behind the rear seats. I already know that there are two factory amps powering the door speaker and the subs. I was thinking about using the AudioControl LC2i to take the signal and convert it to RCA connections. But where would I take the signal from?
  18. Was working yesderday, dead this morning. Radio didn't come on when started (normally left on...so radio comes on when started), toay nothing. other functions work... no audio, no voice commands etc. CD will play if I eject then reinsert the disc... but volume knob doesn't light and doesn't work, power on/off (both knob and touch screen) don't work. Any ideas? Fuse? If so where? Is there a reset somewhere? Pull battery terminal perhaps? advice appreciated.
  19. I'm looking to upgrade the Sony head unit in my 2012 Fusion sel. I'm lost on what happens to the top display. I'm sure this is still required to display temp, direction and climate control functions but does disconnecting the factory unit cause this to malfunction?
  20. Hello all I have a 08 Fusion 6 disk w/ MS sync that loudly clicks repeatedly in four distinct sets every time I unlock the car and start up the enigine. Any known fixes for this?
  21. I have a 2010 SE that's is NOT equipped with sync, however I whittle like to use the steering wheel and in dash media controls to control my phone. Does anyone have any suggestions? I've considered an aftermarket radio but I'm not sure if my steering wheel controls will function with one.
  22. The display says no CD, but when I tried to eject the cd, the display says error. The radio works fine.
  23. I am checking into and will probably purchase a 2013 Fusion S model. I know the Fusion SE model comes standard with Sirius XM satellite radio and a trial test period. I also know that the "S" model does not come with the trial period of the Sirius XM Satelliet radio. My question is if the "S" model Fusion is capable of receiving the Serius sattelite radio, with it just taking a call to Sirius to activate the subscription? I guess I'm asking if the Sirius satellite radio is built into the "S" model, even though it doesn't come with the free trial period like the SE model does??? Thanks.
  24. Please Help Me i am in the process of installing an aftermarket double din in my 2010 ford fusion. This is my second attempt at it with no luck. I bought a metra wiring harness and have connected all corresponding wires correctly, but with no luck. for some reason it will not get power to the double din and it will not turn on at all. I am also confused by the acc+ wire coming out of the double din wiring harness i assume it gets connected to the ignition switch by the matching colors on both wiring harness. If someone has any tips or anything to help me i am beyond frustrated with this doing all that work for it not to power up is beyond me. Thank you all in advance!
