  1. Hi, I have a 2013 Ford Fusion 2.5L 4-cylinder and the gearbox (automatic) has been giving me hard shifting issues. Changing from 1st to 2nd gear causes a loud thud / hard jerk movement and initiates the error codes P0715, P0717, and sometimes P062A. When driving, it will shift from 1st to 4th gear, however, it has failed to shift gears back down to 1st after coming to a complete stop. The only way to get it back to 1st is to clear these error codes while stopped. Thinking that this is an issue with the input speed sensor like the codes suggest, I hijacked part of the existing pigtail and attached a new 3-pin connector (cost $25), but it did not fix the problem like it did for others. Still get the same code and hardshifting. Here's what I'm still thinking could help: clean all ground connectors of corrosion, inspect all wires coming to and from the PCM for damage, and last resort would be to replace the TCM module. I really don't want to have to rebuild the transmission, and I'll just sell it if so, since it would almost cost the value of the vehicle to rebuild it. Please help me if you have any advice or experience, I'm a novice mechanic! Thanks for your time (Picture: chenged pigtail)
  2. I have a 2009 Fusion SE with automatic transmission. When I start the vehicle and go from park into reverse without removing my foot from the brake pedal, the idle is very rough and I can feel motion in the vehicle. This does not occur when going from park to drive. The motion also is not present while in reverse and moving. Any ideas what could be wrong? A bad transmission mount?
  3. I have a 2011 Ford Fusion, SE 4 door, 6 cylinder gas. The automatic headlight sensor stopped working and headlights would be on all time unless I manually turned the switch to off. I installed a new sensor in the center of the dash under the windshield. Now the dash lights go dim and bright when I cover and uncover the sensor (normal), but the headlights stay on. I suspect there may be a relay somewhere but the owners manual does not call it out. Help... Thank you, V/R Bill
  4. My warranty is coming up for 36,000 miles (currently at 31k). My local Ford is awful. Seems like their maintenance guys are as clueless as the ones that check me into my appointment. About a year and a half ago, I reported a problem of my car "jumping" when accelerating after a full stop. The car is an automatic, and the "jump" felt almost like the car was struggling to switch into the 1st (or would it be 2nd) gear. Ford kept it for 2-days only to inform me that they found nothing. I'm beginning to feel the issue is getting worse, and it's most noticeable when using cruise control - which is often. For example - I'll be driving on the parkway, set my cruise control to 65mph, and if a downhill portion of the road is approaching, my car will actually strain to hold the car at 65mph. It's almost like a revving sound from the hood, but with the opposite goal in mind. I once owned a Honda with cruise control, and it held the car at 65mph on declines with no ridiculous noises. I feel like the automatic gears aren't switching properly, and with my Fusion being so close to warranty, I can envision these inept Ford employees finding some excuse to pass on doing their job. (slightly bitter?) I am not car savvy, and my explanation of the problem is probably not the best. I need to get this looked into ASAP, and I'm not even sure how to convey what's going on. Does anyone have any advice as to what may be the issue? Or may be becoming the issue? Perhaps any advice on where to take the car for a real analysis? Thanks!
  5. Hi guys, new to the forums and new owner of a year old 2013 Fusion SE 2.0. Car has 22000 Kms on it. Car runs great shifts great, no power shortage or anything. I only have one little worry with the car. When I put it in reverse, I hear a mechanical click and the car bumps just a little. If I go from reverse back do Drive, same noise happens. Now I had the car into Ford and they said it was normal operation of the vehicle. Then I asked a co worker who is very good with cars. He is also telling me this is normal. Now, I've only ever driven this fusion. Never tested others. Is this single click noise anything to even worry about? Is it normal operation of the vehicle? You 2.0 owners, do you get this as well? Some feedback would be greatly appreciated as I want to drive my car and not worry the whole time. Thanks!
  6. I just leased a 2014 ford fusion about a week ago, so I am still getting used to it. I finally got the sync system down (for the most part) but the thumb shifter confuses me a little. I was wondering if there was anyway to keep the automatic transmission from upshifting to run the rpms a little higher for faster acceleration? It seems as if the car usually jumps up a gear before I even get to use the shifter.
  7. Hey peeps, I've come across a good deal on a 2010 Fusion SEL, I think one that's a bit too good to pass up on, but I am hesitant to go through with it after all the horror stories Google seems to be able to pull up on the auto trannies in these cars. This car has 70K miles, and I am assuming it's a 2.5l i4 (but it very well could be a V6). I am test driving it tomorrow morning. I don't really care which engine it is, the 4cyl is adequate enough; to me all cars are slow anyway, I have my GSXR 750 track bike for going fast! The price is about 40% below market value, but it's never been in an accident. Of course, my gut is telling me that something could be seriously wrong with the car, and that I must be cautious. It's a private sale, company car, from a guy who's getting a new company car, and who did mostly highway mileage with it. I've attached one of the pics of the ad... where, believe it or not, you see the car at an auto-x event! I intend to get the VIN # from the seller and go to the Ford dealership to ask for a printout of all service records to see if it's been in the shop for transmission issues. What are some things I should pay careful attention to when I go drive the car tomorrow? Would you recommend that I buy a used, out-of-warranty, automatic 2010 Fusion given the track records for the transmissions? Would transmission repairs, TSBs, reflashes, etc., be paid for out of my pocket now that the car is out of warranty? I've rented a few Fusions and find them to be great cars with lots of desireable features, and I look forward to sell my 07 Civic and drive something nicer.
