  1. Making my first post to ask if anyone has had this recall done. If so, please share your experience, good or bad..... I had initially received notice months ago of this recall on my 2014 Fusion with the manual transmission, but recently got the notice that the parts are available. It says the clutch assembly will be replaced. It makes me a bit nervous as I know there aren't many of these cars out there so the dealer won't have much, if any, experience in replacing the clutch on it.
  2. Back in August of 2017 I brought my car in for Safety Recall 12S41-S4. After evaluation, Ford decided to replace the engine at no charge. I told the dealer to replace the clutch while they had it all out since the car had about 70,000 on it. I will try to make the following details short, but you will get my point I'm sure. The clutch made a loud grinding noise whenever there was no throttle input. Brought it back twice and they blamed it on an exhaust misalignment. Every time I picked it up, I told them there was clearly an issue with the clutch. Finally the clutch gave up and I had to tow it in (over 40 miles) The clutch disk had completely torn apart at the hub. Ford paid to have a second new clutch put in, along with a flywheel, and all bearings and bolts. The car was much better, but there is still clearly a clicking and grinding noise when the car is sitting still in neutral. If you push the clutch pedal in, the noise goes away. Brought the car back twice for the noise, they claimed they couldn't find it. Second time I demanded that someone come out and listen to it. They did and agreed that was a serious issue. However it was the only manual transmission fusion they had ever worked on, so they had never heard this before. They contacted Ford for their advice. Ford suggested further inspection and disassembly. Now the car has been at the dealer since February 20th for Recall 17S09 and the clutch. They said they are putting another New clutch in the car, but now it is on super backorder and they don't know when they will get it. So has anyone ever heard of these issues with the clutch in a 13 - 14 Fusion? Isn't Ford required to still make parts for cars for a certain amount of time? I mean the car is only 4 years old and they cant find a clutch anywhere??? I should mention that I do not blame the dealer for any of this, the dealer has been more than helpful and given me great loaners every time, I just want my car back. Any help or advice is much appreciated. The dealer and mechanic are working with me as much as possible, but they have no idea what is causing the noise. My thought is that the destroyed clutch damaged the input shaft on the transmission when it blew apart..... maybe a long shot, but I'm stumped. Thanks in advance.
  3. Hey guys have a 07 fusion 2.3L with a manual transmission at 170k miles. So this started about a week ago, when I push my clutch in to shift it starts to make this squealing sound. When my foot is off the clutch there is no sound. I haven't had any problems shifting since it has happened. I checked my clutch fluid and its full and looks clean. I was wondering if anyone else has had a problem like this or does anyone know what it might be? Tyler
  4. I left my car outside overnight on Tuesday and when I got up I had some troubles getting moving. I wasn't sure what was happening but it turned out to be the parking brake being stuck due to the cold. I drove about a block and turned around when I realized the brake wasn't going to unlock. About five houses down from me the car stopped moving. The engine was redlining but no movement whatsoever. Essentially no power going to the drive train even though the car was in gear. Couldn't go forward in first or back in reverse. After the outside temperature warmed up the parking brake unfroze and is now working fine. Unfortunately there is still no power going to the drivetrain. The clutch depresses but feels like there is minimal upward pressure when I take my foot off of it. With the car running and without the clutch engaged I can shift into all gears. The same as if I had my foot on the clutch. I believe there is a piston that the clutch pedal pushes against that is stuck and not returning to its resting position. Before I climb under the car and start hitting things with a hammer I was wondering if anyone has an alternate diagnosis. If my diagnosis is okay I'd appreciate links to some pictures or diagrams of where that piston is located on a 2006 Mercury Milan Premier with the 4 cylinder engine.
  5. Hi all, Got 125k on my clutch and its finally starting to slip. Need to replace it. I've done a few before, but never in a fusion. Anyone know of a good write-up/videos for the job? Thanks!
  6. In the span of 3 days my clutch gave out. I took it to the dealer ship and a mechanic to get estimates and decided to side with the mechanic. He had 5 stars on yelp with 275 reviews.. so why not? (action Auto San Francisco). When he was prepping the car for the new clutch set, he noticed that the throw bearing was in pretty bad shape and was practically melted. The sleeve of the "input shaft" had grind marks. In picture on you can see my throwout bearing towards the bottem and the shaft with the grind marks on the sleeve. Picture 2 is a close up of the sleeve. Also, in the picture is a brown looking plate around the shaft towards the back, well whats not in the picture is that i removed that piece and there was melted metal on the sleeve and the shaft, which probably fused them together. My mechanic said that he doesnt know what to do about the grinds on the sleeve because he isnt able to remove the sleeve. If it was removable, he wouldnt be able to remove it now because of the melted metal. He isnt a transmission specialist and he recommends that i take this portion to a specialist. An estimate i recieved was $900. After showing these pictures to friends and family mechanic buffs, im hearing that the transmission needs to be opened up and that part replaced and or the sleeve cut off but only a transmission specialist that really know what he is doing is able to do it. Can i get some type of advice?
