  1. I had a check engine on my 14 S Hybrid that came back with P26CA & U019F as the 2 top results when scanned. After some research all signs point to the electric coolant pump (DS7Z8C419D, PW611, & PW544) and its harness connector. Of the limited amount of info I've found on google and YouTube, i cannot find anything that shows where this is located. Does anyone have experience with this?
  2. So my wife took our 2013 Fusion 1.6L to the end of the street the other day and got an “Engine Coolant Overtemp” (ECO) on the dash. She immediately brought it home and said it was still cool to the touch when she opened the hood and felt a part of the engine. When I checked it later in the evening the coolant was low so I put some more in the reservoir. I put the key in and with key on, engine off after about 5 seconds I saw the MIL (aka Check Engine Light) and an ECO caution. I replaced the Coolant Temp Sensor (CTS) And attempted to erase the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) by a scan tool, removing the battery power for an hour, and also removing the negative battery cable and shorting across the negative and positive cable. Regardless, I still get the MIL and ECO even without engine running. I used the Chilton’s online manual to get the pinpoint tests and wiring diagrams and have shot for 5vDC at the CTS, shorting across pins 1 and 2 on the CTS connector, and continuity from CTS to PCM. The CTS appears to be working fine as the Process ID (PID) shows the CTS sending the correct temperature with the engine off at about 75 degrees when looking with the scan tool. I believe at this point that the CTS nor the associated wiring is the problem since I have troubleshot it exhaustively and replaced the CTS. Any insight into what device or sensor, other than a CTS, can trigger an ECO would be helpful. The following are the PCM codes that were originally tripped: P018C - Status: CONFIRMED/PENDING - Fuel Pressure Sensor “B” Circuit Low: No Sub Type Information P1299 - Status: MIL/CONFIRMED/PENDING - Cylinder head overtemperature protection active: No Sub Type Information P2560 - Status: CONFIRM/PENDING - Engine Coolant Level Low: No Sub Type Information U0159 - Status: CONFIRMED - Lost Communication with Parking Assist Control Module “A”: No Sub Type Information Fusion Electrical Diagram.pdf
  3. Just to get it out front I have not had any issues with this car until today. Bought the car new in 2013 and its only been oil changes, new tires, etc...the usual maintenance. It was between 90-95 degrees today and I drove the car to a local school car wash and waited about 20-25 minutes at idle with the A/C on, no issues. Afterward drove about a mile down the road to a fast food place and idled for about 10-15 minutes in the drive-thru when all of a sudden I smelled coolant and noticed steam from under the hood. I pulled out of line noticing that I had an overtemp caution on the dash and proceeded to park when I then got the advisory that engine power was reduced (meaning 0%, I guess) before I got to the spot and had to coast into it. Once I stopped I turned off the key and opened the hood at which time I notice what seemed to be quite a bit of coolant covering the rear passenger quadrant of the engine compartment. I could not see where it had come from and given the temperature of the engine and lack of tools and a jack couldn't troubleshoot. I left the car for about and hour or so to give it time to cool. Once I came back I tried to look for the source of the coolant but, again, without a jack and tools no luck, so I downloaded the trouble codes as follows: P1299, B1147, P018C, P0217, P0219, and U0159. After downloading the codes I cleared the codes and decided to start the car and see how it sounded. After leaving it running for a few minutes it sounded fine so I began to drive back home about 3-4 miles away. I got about halfway home when the temp gauge jumped but didn't get to "HOT" and no cautions or warnings so I pulled over and put coolant in the overflow. Since then I have driven the car home and subsequently about 30 minutes with no signs of leaking or overheating. If this was an old school cooling system I would say it overflowed out of the system but since the system is closed I'm confused as to why, how, and what happened. Any thoughts would be helpful.
  4. Hey all, New member to the Fusion club with some questions. I've had this 2017 Ford Fusion SE for less than a month now and just ran into my first issue. Was doing some regular city driving and the "Engine Coolant Over Temperature" alert came up. A few moments later, smoke was coming from under the hood and what looked like antifreeze, leaked out entirely. Of course, called roadside and had it taken to a dealership immediately where they inspected the car over a course of 2 days. After the service checks, the dealership was unable to find anything wrong with the vehicle, even any leaks, and said its running fine. Now I've gotten the car back, but noticed today that the temperature on the vehicle was quite high when I had it on park, photo attached. You guys think its related? Any suggestions? As you see, the car has just 400 miles on it!
  5. This is my first post here - thanks for your help. I'm fairly auto-illiterate. I have a 2016 Fusion Hybrid with 35K miles. LOVE the car. No problems at all so far. The owner's manual doesn't give time/mileage estimates for important service. I can't get clear answers anywhere. The auto shop I had been going to was trying to get me to do service that is impossible (Change the fuel filter). Totally trying to cheat me. Have to find a new shop and I'm doubtful if I need the other service that the shop was also trying to get me to pay for: If you can answer this: how often should I get Coolant flush or drain/fill Brake fluid changed Fuel induction kit transmission fluid I know this is a lot to ask, but I want a general idea before I take it to the new shop so I won't be cheated again. Ford Chat told me transmission was at 150K - is there anything needed before that? Another shop I called says they don't even do Fuel induction on the hybrid. The first shop was also trying to get me to do coolant, brake, and fuel induction... Thanks for helping me out.
  6. EDIT: My apologies, it seems there is a very large thread on this topic already. I'm not sure if it's possible, or how to delete a post, so I figured I'd at least add this edit. Again, sorry about the duplicate! Google searching never brought me to this forum, so I assumed it had not been discussed here. Hi everyone and thanks in advanced for any assistance. For reference, this is a 2012 Fusion SE with the 2.5L engine (4-cylinder). About two weeks ago I started noticing a "gurgling" sound behind my dashboard on the passenger side. This sound is most prominent when A ) starting the car in the morning (temperatures have been in the 20s and lower 30s recently) it sounds like a "flush", which I assume is the coolant moving to the heater core, and B ) when I'm accelerating from a stop, such as a red light. Occasionally I will also hear the gurgling a bit while idling at a red light. After some Google searching I found that this could be caused by low coolant, or air in the coolant system. I checked my reservoir (about a week ago now) and noticed it was only about half full, which is about 4 inches below the minimum fill line. I bought some 50/50 coolant and filled the reservoir to the max with the engine cold, hoping my problem would be gone. However, it did not help at all, leading me to believe there is air trapped in the system. The last 3 days I have let my engine run for about 10 minutes or so with the reservoir cap off, and also opened the bleeder valve yesterday. I never noticed any bubbling in the reservoir, but some coolant did run out of the bleeder valve when I opened it, so I closed it almost immediately hoping it brought some air out with it. This morning I still have the gurgling sound. I would like to point out that my heater is working normal, and my engine's temperature gauge starts of on C and makes its way to right smack in the middle of C and H. Everything seems perfectly normal other than the gurgling. Does anyone have an idea if this could be something else, if I need to take a different "bleeding" approach, or if I need to take my car to a mechanic to check things out? Thanks guys!
  7. Hi Folks - Took my 2014 2.0L Titanium with 16,500 miles on it to the local Valvoline Oil Change today (Ford dealer had a 2hr wait) and they noticed the coolant was low. Since it was a drive through service, I was able to see they didn't do anything and verify it was low... there are no leaks on my garage floor, and according to the service tech it was low ~3 Quarts. Any thoughts? Temp gauge is right where it should be - no warning lights or anything. According to the guy at the Oil change facility, he sees this sometimes with Turbos - Does that seem correct? Any insight that can be provided would be greatly appreciated. Will just monitor the levels for the next few weeks to see if it goes down again.
  8. Hello, I just bought the motorcraft gold coolant from dealer. I want to change it on my own. It's the first time I work on a fusion. I get under it and I found no drain plug / pigcock under it. Is there a radiator drain plug / pigcock under fusion? Where is it? If not, how to change the coolant? Please, everyone, I did search the forum and not find information I need. Thanks!
