  1. I'm looking to upgrade the engine on my 2014 Fusion SE (currently have the 1.5L stock) and have been trying to find a suitable replacement with far better performance. As I've looked around, the 3.0L Twin Turbo Ecoboost engines in the Lincoln MKZs look like a very appealing option, especially considering the price compared to other options. Would one of these fit in my car? If so, would it massively decrease my gas mileage or would it still be manageable? If not, what are some alternatives? I'd preferably like a quieter option that still has great performance, as I'm looking to mod my car into the perfect sleeper build and I feel the volume of an engine like the 5.0 Mustang engine that went viral a while ago would ruin the subtlety I'm striving to achieve. I'm just beginning to get into car modification, so if there's a smaller change I need or should do first that'd also be great to know.
  2. Hello! I need help and explanation. Please tell me, I need help about the engine and about Ecoboost in general. My be you can advise me something based on experience or true. The thing is: I hit kicked down on my 1.5T Ford Fusion USA. I don't drive like that at all, but the situation required it. I drove to the point, I look in the mirror behind and saw a cloud of blue smoke and it stank of smoke for 3 min inside too. Auto after that approx. I SCREWED off and looked at the spark plugs, they had traveled 44,000 km. Rubbish... I have a video of the cylinders. Then I climbed into the cylinders with the camera and saw something that I did not understand. Apparently there is soot, an oil film. Could YOU please advise what is it? Why? How? Reasons? I have video inside cylinders, but cant download. Now i have: - Mileage: 50 000 miles (86,000 km) - fuel consumption is excellent, highway, from 6 l/100km. -- Oil consumption: 200 grams per 10,000 km. *Use Kendall 5W-20. -Service (changing oil) every 8,000 km. -Petrol: Tesco ""99 Moment"". (EU) 1. I need explanation, why it's had happened? 2. What to do? 3. Do I need clean cylinders? 4. Could it be a cylinder head gasket 5.! What engine diagnostics do I need and what should it include? -× I want to help this problem, it is possible to react earlier ×- BEST WISHES TO YOU AND YOUR ECOBOOST! ANDREW
  3. I currently own a 2011 Ford Fusion SE, I love my car, so I would like to swap engine for better performance, has anyone swapped engines, if so any recommendations ik I'd need to upgrade other stuff as well
  4. I am new to the Ford Fusion group in terms of posting but I have used it for answers in the past. I am driving a 2011 Ford Fusion SEL. The vehicle has 103,000 miles on it. About 3 months ago I encountered stop and go traffic due to an accident on the interstate. After coming past the accident and upon accelerating the car started to vibrate / shudder / shake - whatever verb you want to use - it wasn't normal. To the extent my cell phone vibrated out of it's air vent holder. I was a mile away from an exit so I pulled off at that exit and turned off the vehicle. It should be noted when the issue started there were no dashboard lights, there was no RPM abnormalities etc. After turning the car off and waiting about 10 minutes the car started and drove normally. The issue didn't repeat for weeks and the car ran smoothly as normal. It repeated after the same thing - stop and go traffic and upon accelerating. I took the vehicle to my wonderful mechanic that has been doing all the servicing on it. At 100,000 miles Ford recommends spark plugs so they changed the spark plugs, checked the brakes, the tire balance, cleaned out some carbon deposits, and test drove the vehicle - it drove fine. Again - a couple of weeks of normal driving and then it did it slightly one further time. This time back at the mechanic who won't charge me till he knows that the problem is solved and this time they worked on the throttle body which he said was pretty dirty and did a fuel injection treatment and cleaning. Yesterday driving between 0 - 59 mph the vehicle was fine. At 60 it started shaking so I slowed up a bit. Back to 60 and the shaking started. I accelerated a bit more and at 70 on the interstate the shaking lasted for about 3 miles and then went away. Driving back home - about 30 miles - the car was fine and after that short period of vibration and shaking it was fine. My mechanic is a bit stumped and so am I. There are again no warning lights, the RPM seems normal, the vehicle shifts gears smoothly. Just trying to figure out what is going on and if someone in the forum has experienced the same thing. Any help other fusion owners can give is greatly appreciated. Many thanks !
  5. I'm having an issue with my 2016 ford fusion 2.5. 63k mil. When coming to a stop in drive, there is a noticable ratling noise from the engine bay accompanied by an occasional idle surge. The rpm will slightly drop, and when it does the whole car will pulsate and will shake for a second (i can feel it in the seat). Running the car with the ac on will make the noise and idle worse. Ac is fine and blows cold air. I've gotten the top (main) motor mount replaced ~1000 miles ago, which is what the dealer determined. Drives much better, But the issue persists. Other than that, the transmission has gotten a bit wonky lately and shifting feels harder than usual. No check engine light. I'm suspecting the chain tensioner/ac pulley bearing may be bad but I am not sure on what could be the problem. Would greatly appreciate any advise on this.
  6. This has been a completely random occurrence ever since it has begun. So what the vehicle does is it will lose power (not electrical though), shake like it's trying to go, then the RPMs will drop to zero and the engine will cut off. After putting the car back in park and turning I back on it doesn't happen again, except for this one time I happened twice within 2 mins. The car struggles to crank back on but it does it within 5-10 seconds, but as I stated earlier, this occurrence is very random. Some times I can go months without it happening and some times it will happen twice in a week. I'm not really sure what could be the cause. Anyone got any ideas?
  7. Asking a serious question here I bought a 2014 fusion se 2.5 fwd from an auction got a stupid deal on it 100k miles runs great, I want to swap the 2.5 n/a fwd out for the 2.0 ecoboost fwd engine/ecu,harness I seen both se trims look identical inside and out and both engines use the same exact transmission I was wondering how possible is this ? Seems like it should work also what are some other things I may need to keep the car running decent ? I got the car for 1800 bucks so I. Not really try to sell in go buy a car with a 2.0
  8. So I've been trying to diagnose this problem myself for the longest time and my local dealer doesn't even wanna try and help me, all they wanna do is try and sell me a new car. I like this car and would much rather keep it. I got the car about a year ago, had it for three days and then my mom backed into it with a 2017 Ford Explorer, it wasn't a hard impact so it was only minor damage. The engine runs fine and it does show any signs of loss of power nor are there any odd fluctuations in the RPMs. However, there is this strange rattling noise that I have no clue what could be causing it. If anyone may have any ideas or solutions it would be greatly appreciated. All I want it a quite engine Also, I've attached videos to listen to the sound. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1cDXDEoUlHvTVdqnwk-egraKAA3FsfRf5?usp=sharing
  9. Have 2016 titanium awd, 2.0 EcoBoost. Anyway to increase horsepower with 2 stipulations, on a budget and without voiding warranty. Lol. I know, want my cake and eat it to. Thanks
  10. Good evening, Okay so I bought a 2014 Ford Fusion on July 2nd with 57,xxx miles on it, and I've noticed it has a really loud groaning sound when idling and while driving, not coming from the engine itself but seems to be coming from the air intake system? As an example when I take the intake lid off the box with the air filter, the sound is extremely loud. I took it to my local Ford dealership and they just laughed me off the lot, and didn't tell me anything. So I am curious if you guys have any idea what the cause could be. I've not noticed any kind of power loss, it's just always making this sound. Might mention that when I am accelerating the sound "sorta" goes away. Just becomes quieter.
  11. Hello everyone I have a 2008 Ford Fusion 3.0l V6 which rusted the tube that connects the engine block with the water pump hose. I've tried to find the part, but I'm not sure what it could be. I found this tube that looks like the one that broke through the rust. Anyone who knows the part number? I found this one, but im not sure Inlet Tube - Ford (F5RZ-8A505-A) https://www.fordpartscatalog.com/oem-parts/ford-inlet-tube-f5rz8a505a?c=bT0xJmc9Y29vbGluZy1zeXN0ZW0mcz13YXRlci1wdW1wJmw9MiZuPVJlY29tbWVuZGVkIFByb2R1Y3RzJmE9Zm9yZCZvPWZ1c2lvbiZ5PTIwMDgmdD1zZWwmZT0zLTBsLXY2LWdhcw%3D%3D See photos for more detail Thank you
  12. Hey guys, I Have a question about pulling a 3.5L fusion engine out from the top instead of from the bottom. I have seen a few videos on you tube that claim its possible but haven't showed how. does anyone know of a write up someone has done by pulling it from the top? also swapping a fusion engine all together, any tips of hints I should know about? I looked around the forum but really haven't seen anything about engine swaps. Thanks for any help
  13. I have a 2012 Fusion, has the 3.0 V6, with about 11,000 miles. I like driving the car, but it has a problem that my local AutoNation Ford dealer and the Ford region service person could not diagnose. I drive mostly in the city and generally the car runs fine. But at a constant speed above 65mph, the car develops a noticeable stutter or hesitation. It almost feels as if it has an engine miss, or as if the brake is rapidly being applied. It accelerates fine and seems to shift okay. It does not seem to matter if cruise control is activated. Place the car in neutral, the problem is gone. The problem has not triggered a service light. On longer trips, this problem is annoying. The dealer acknowledged the problem, as did the Ford regional service person, but they do not have a solution. I have been told by the dealer other V6 Fusions also have this problem. I have seen a few other internet post expressing this same problem [and frustration], but have not seen a fix. Any ideas?
  14. Hey all, New member to the Fusion club with some questions. I've had this 2017 Ford Fusion SE for less than a month now and just ran into my first issue. Was doing some regular city driving and the "Engine Coolant Over Temperature" alert came up. A few moments later, smoke was coming from under the hood and what looked like antifreeze, leaked out entirely. Of course, called roadside and had it taken to a dealership immediately where they inspected the car over a course of 2 days. After the service checks, the dealership was unable to find anything wrong with the vehicle, even any leaks, and said its running fine. Now I've gotten the car back, but noticed today that the temperature on the vehicle was quite high when I had it on park, photo attached. You guys think its related? Any suggestions? As you see, the car has just 400 miles on it!
  15. I've just noticed that my 2014, 2.5 16v Ford Fusion Check Engine Light starts flashing before the engine has even been turned on. This happens when I don't turn the engine on for more than 10 seconds after turning the key. Once engine is on, the light goes off. Any reason why this could be happening? Any huge concerns about it?

  18. My 2012 ford fusion has 114,000 miles on it. It recently started making a low "humming" noise after high speeds. The car will start up fine and act normal but after I get off the highway and park my car, I can hear it humming. (it's not the tires because it's coming from the engine.) It's also is accompanied with a slight vibration near the air filter. I live in Florida so it gets very hot, which makes it act worse. When it's in park, cooling down, the humming gets less and less noticeable, eventually stopping all together after a few minutes. All the fluids are changed and I also recently replaced the idler pulley. Sorry if this is in the wrong topic, I'm new to the forum. If anyone has an idea as to what might be wrong, that would greatly help. I'm at loss!
  19. I have a 2009 ford fusion SE, I want to her rid of this engine. I want something bigger and manual. Can someone help me out on some possible swaps ?
  20. I took my 2012 Ford fusion into the dealer at about 15,000 miles because it was making a horrible noise in the engine bay. The technician determined it was a pulley bracket and after replacement the issue seemed to be resolved but the next day the check engine light came on and the car began running rough. I took it back to the shop and they determined the CVT solenoid had to be replaced (don't think this as a coincidence since it was worked on the day before). Ever since this repair the car seemed to make a ticking noise when cold and it seems to be getting louder over time. I've had it into the dealer 3 times over this noise and they keep telling me there is nothing wrong with the car and its normal engine noise. Please listen for yourself and provide me with any feedback you may have.
  21. I am spending some time in Eagle, CO (live in Texas) and on a couple of the really cold mornings my car will start but then sputters and coughs and dies. I can start it again immediately but am wondering what is going on. I have 5W oil in it. Should it have 0W in these temperatures ? Thanks for any help!
  22. Hello, I own an automatic 2012 ford fusion base model and just had the check engine light come on at a little over 22k miles. I thumbed through the info display but no messages were present. Just want to know if it's possibly mileage or service related. If not, any word on common issues would be helpful. Thanks in advance! -TheBarnetts
  23. Hi all, This is my first post on the Ford Fusion Forum. I am coming here for some advice from fellow Fusion owners on some problems I have been having lately. I own a 2012 Ford Fusion SE with almost 80,000 miles (mostly highway) on it. I bought it in March of 2012 and it has been a great commuters car; however, in the last 6 months I have been having quite a few issues. About two weeks ago, it started to make this sound, it's not extremely loud, but it is definitely heard in the car with the radio on and heard outside by others. It gets louder when you accelerate. I brought it to my mechanic and they checked to see if there was a hole in the muffler, they found nothing. I don't know what else it could be, my mechanic said the car looked fine, but it's not a normal noise. Secondly, the airbag light went on in my car. My mechanic didn't have the tools to find the problem. I'll probably have to bring it to my local Ford Dealership, just for them to rip me off, so excited. Has anyone else had these problems or know how they could be resolved? Thanks, FordFusion507
  24. 25. Does anyone have the dimensions of the 4 cylinder 2.3 L 2009 ford fusion engine ??!!?
