When ever I go to the gas station and the car is empty, the fuel handle clicks itself off like 20 times over the course of a fill up. I've disconnected the line underneath the back of my car and blown air through it and reattached it but it seems the problem still persists. Anyone have any ideas? -Kevin

So I've had my 2010 ford Fusion for 5 years now and it just started showing this behavior. Basically after driving for 350+ miles and the tank is relatively empty, when I take it to the gas station it trips the nozzles after like half a gallon, and proceeds to do this over and over and over. As I live in Oregon and it's illegal to fill up your own gas its quite annoying to have to have the guy stand there and fill it up. Any ideas?

Hey just signed up to be a member, first post! Just wondering who has the most miles on their fusion. Im not going to win but I have an 07 I4 manual and just passed 80k miles today. Had it since 5 miles on the odometer. I average between 24-26 mpg so it is keeping me pretty happy and no major repairs. Just headlights and routine maintenance.

I just purchased a used 2010 Ford Fusion Sport AWD, and although I researched the posted mileage for the vehicle I'm looking for some real world experience input on what I can expect in terms of how many KMs I'll get per tank/how often I'll need to fill up. I recognize it depends on driving habits and patterns, but I'm curious of your experience in this regard (including your particular driving habits - city versus highway, etc.). Any insights are appreciated.

Two of the last three times getting into car noticed a strong smell of gas inside the car. It was only in the low eighties late afternoon but have never smelled that much gas inside a vehicle before. Is it because of the no cap gas fill? By the way, can I buy a gas filler cap anyway? Afraid someone will come along in the hood a drop something inside filler.

Let me apologize in advance if I seem a bit dull, but I'm not exactly a gearhead. Anyway, I always ran 87 octane, as was recommended, in my 2006 Fusion SE. When I bought my 2012 Sport earlier this year I assumed that I should continue to use 87 since the dealer never stated otherwise and I couldn't find any recommendation in the manual. Last fill-up I decided to use 89, and I feel that the engine runs smother and is more responsive, though it very well might be all in my head. So my question is what is the recommended gasoline grade for a stock sport? Is there any advantage or disadvantage to running 89 octane?

I've noticed that under a heavy acceleration there is a smell of exhaust going into the car. This only happens when the vehicle is accelerated hard. Could there be a loose seal? Why it only happens when the car is pushed hard? Really enjoy the ride in my Sport 2012.
