Hey guys have a 07 fusion 2.3L with a manual transmission at 170k miles. So this started about a week ago, when I push my clutch in to shift it starts to make this squealing sound. When my foot is off the clutch there is no sound. I haven't had any problems shifting since it has happened. I checked my clutch fluid and its full and looks clean. I was wondering if anyone else has had a problem like this or does anyone know what it might be? Tyler

Hello everyone, I'm new here and have a question about an engine swap for my 06 fusion and figured this would be the best place to ask! I recently had a catastrophic failure with my 2.3L engine and I'm searching for the best options for replacement. Since I'm already having to replace it I would like to put in an engine that will be more powerful. So my question is, would a 2.0 liter turbo engine from the from the Focus ST be compatible with my current Mazda G5M manual transmission? Or would there be any better options like the 2.3L turbo with a RWD or AWD conversion, or the 3.0L six cylinder? I would really appreciate feedback or ideas anyone has! Thanks, Adam -

Good afternoon, I have a 2008 Fusion with 160K miles. It's a 5-speed manual (2.3L). I've put all but the 1st 100 miles on it. When I shift from 1st to 2nd gear I'm only getting about 50% of the power I used to off the line as the tach hits about 3000-3200 RPMs. The same thing happens when shifting other gears although I don't seem to notice it as much from 4th to 5th. At first I thought it was the clutch, but the shifting itself feels fine - there is just a lack of power. I took it to Autozone (I know, I know) to see if it would register any codes even though my CEL hasn't come on. The transmission code = "no response", all other codes were ok. Any ideas before I take it to my dealer to get it checked out? I'm due for a dealer oil change at 161K+ but would like any information the forum experts can extoll before then. Thanks, Ari -

Just out of curiosity, Has anyone else had issues with third gear being out of sync? When I bought mine new in 2007, i noticed the banging noise slightly but ignored it thinking maybe it was just a new transmission and probably need time to loosen up. But the noise got worse until i couldn't stand it any more, and fearing my 75,000 mile drive train warranty was coming up, i decided to get it fixed. Now she floats like a dream. I was told by the Ford Certified mechanic that third gear was off mesh by about a micron or so. They ended up replacing the whole transmission gear box and gears free of charge. NICE... So has anybody else experience this, or am i just lucky enough to have gotten a brand new transmission after 70k? Its nice to have a tranny thats only 25k miles old in a five year old car. But I got stuck driving a 2009 Fuckus as a loaner. I hated that car. But then again, I'm Fusion jaded.
