  1. Making my first post to ask if anyone has had this recall done. If so, please share your experience, good or bad..... I had initially received notice months ago of this recall on my 2014 Fusion with the manual transmission, but recently got the notice that the parts are available. It says the clutch assembly will be replaced. It makes me a bit nervous as I know there aren't many of these cars out there so the dealer won't have much, if any, experience in replacing the clutch on it.
  2. Hello guys and gals. I've tried searching this forum for accurate info on swapping my G5m over to a G6m transmission since I've heard it can be done. The only reason I'm considering it is that I recently purchased a clean 2006 FUSION SEL 2.3L 5SPD. Happy as a pig in sh*t until I noticed a faint gear oil smell one day and then a gear whine while taking off in 1st and 2nd gear. Got home, pulled the drain plug and NOTHING CAME OUT !!! Okay, maybe a few drops but no stream of gear oil at all. So I actually said ... "WTF!!!". Started pumping gear oil into the tranny and it came out as fast as I pumped it in. Again ... "WTF!!!". So. long story short, it's at a trusted shop now and when he gets it apart we'll see what happened. I drove it slowly around town for probably 25 miles after realizing it had NO OIL but it shifts extremely smooth with no burning smell or grinding of any sort. Any ideas as to what happened? I'm a mechanic myself but getting too old to do this stuff in my driveway anymore. Hate paying someone to wrench on my vehicle but I'm not up to it right now. Some guys say it's the same transmission and an easy swap but I've noticed from pics that the bell housing is a part of the transmission case on these things and the 5-speed and 6-speed look different so I'm assuming they have to be swapped to mate to the correct engine right? Again, mine is a 2006 2.3L 5-speed and I want to install a 6 speed from a 2.5 so what do I have to look for in so far as purchasing a transmission for this swap? Can I use my 5-speed case half or what?
  3. Back in August of 2017 I brought my car in for Safety Recall 12S41-S4. After evaluation, Ford decided to replace the engine at no charge. I told the dealer to replace the clutch while they had it all out since the car had about 70,000 on it. I will try to make the following details short, but you will get my point I'm sure. The clutch made a loud grinding noise whenever there was no throttle input. Brought it back twice and they blamed it on an exhaust misalignment. Every time I picked it up, I told them there was clearly an issue with the clutch. Finally the clutch gave up and I had to tow it in (over 40 miles) The clutch disk had completely torn apart at the hub. Ford paid to have a second new clutch put in, along with a flywheel, and all bearings and bolts. The car was much better, but there is still clearly a clicking and grinding noise when the car is sitting still in neutral. If you push the clutch pedal in, the noise goes away. Brought the car back twice for the noise, they claimed they couldn't find it. Second time I demanded that someone come out and listen to it. They did and agreed that was a serious issue. However it was the only manual transmission fusion they had ever worked on, so they had never heard this before. They contacted Ford for their advice. Ford suggested further inspection and disassembly. Now the car has been at the dealer since February 20th for Recall 17S09 and the clutch. They said they are putting another New clutch in the car, but now it is on super backorder and they don't know when they will get it. So has anyone ever heard of these issues with the clutch in a 13 - 14 Fusion? Isn't Ford required to still make parts for cars for a certain amount of time? I mean the car is only 4 years old and they cant find a clutch anywhere??? I should mention that I do not blame the dealer for any of this, the dealer has been more than helpful and given me great loaners every time, I just want my car back. Any help or advice is much appreciated. The dealer and mechanic are working with me as much as possible, but they have no idea what is causing the noise. My thought is that the destroyed clutch damaged the input shaft on the transmission when it blew apart..... maybe a long shot, but I'm stumped. Thanks in advance.
  4. I have a 2014 Fusion with 1.6L and 6 speed manual transmission. I bought it new and have had issues with the heater since I owned it. While in the city the car will not warm up like it should. When the car is in neutral the heater will blow out significantly cooler air then it does when I am in gear and driving. The car will not even warm up to full temp on the temperature gauge when in the city or if I let the car idle for an extended period of time. The only time the heater works right is if I drive on the highway or back roads where I am consistently driving. It will then warm up in 10 minutes and stay warm. It has been at one dealership 5 times and then I finally took it to another dealership 1 time. The water pump, PCM and clutch position sensor have been changed. They have also hooked it up to the vacuum multiple times to try to get air out of the system. I have not noticed any improvement at all but the dealerships are telling me that it is normal for a manual transmission car and that it is fixed. Has anyone else had this issue with a manual transmission fusion? It seems like it should not matter what transmission is in the car. Any input would be great. This is a very frustrating situation since I live in Michigan and it is cold. I really like the car except for this issue.
  5. Our 2013 Fusion SE has a 6 speed manual transmission. The car has 7500 miles on it. Last week the lockout collar on the shifter got stuck in the 'up' position, causing the lockout mechanism to fail. We had to be very careful when shifting gears so we wouldn't accidentally put it in Reverse. The dealership fixed the problem, replacing the entire shift assembly. I called Ford and asked if this was a common problem. They assured me it wasn't. Has anyone else ever experienced this problem? Also, does anyone know if shifting the car into Reverse instead of 1st gear when parking it for the night could put a strain on the lockout mechanism/collar? Thanks!
