  1. I'm looking to install an aftermarket head unit in my 2012 SE without navigation. All of the dash kits I've found include the slot for the info screen. My new head unit will already display that information, so it is just a redundancy. Has anyone found a dash kit that abandons the stock info screen? Attached is a photo of what I've found available, as well as a stock bezel for the Navigation option which is what I'm hoping to find except with the regular non-nav control cutouts. I'd also be willing to do a swap for the stock Nav bezel. I know it's pretty involved and is not plug and play, I just haven't found information on everything that would actually need to be swapped. If I could find that info, I do have the skills to complete it.
  2. Hey Everyone, I have been searching around the forum and the internet and wanted to get in here and see if I can get some advice/thoughts from the community lets jump in. So I have The SYNC with MyFord with a basic 4.2-inch screen. I wanted to upgrade this to SYNC 3. I found two options and a How To. I can: Source the parts individually and install it myself which I read I can do starting at $400 Buy a kit from 4D Tech which is $1500 and install it myself Then I saw this puppy here which is a complete custom build that the creator did not seem to be willing to share the spec on Ford Fusion iPad Pro in dash upgrade Ideally, I'd like to do an upgrade like this without having to take out the vents, maybe a smaller tablet?, and create a kit for others who are interested but I if I have to stick to the Sync 3 upgrade I'll stick to that. Curious about your guys and gals thoughts on the subject. All ideas welcome.
  3. Interested if anyone has tried to do a RWD conversion on their Ford Fusion. Interested in doing it on a FWD, but I assume it would be more common/easier on a AWD. I've seen some ridiculous mods for Fusions so far with Super/Twin Charging, ITBs, and other fun things, but the one I'm most interested in performing myself seems to have not been attempted yet. If I have to break ground myself and sacrifice my Fusion for the greater good of all Fusions than I shall do so - but it would be great to see if anyone has tried or seen someone else attempt this. Thanks, Chrom Edit: This could also apply to the Powertrain section of the forum, and if it should be then I apologize, but this is the only section of the forums labeled as Modifications
  4. Okay so I finally went ahead with my plans to do a dome light override modification. I've always liked getting in a car and not being blinded at night I just find it convenient. The procedure is really simple and if anyone wants to do it, the total cost for me was $6 for a switch and crimp connections and some 18 gauge wire. Pictures are self explanatory but the method is to pull of the A post cover on the passenger side and disconnect the big plug. Snip the grey/purple wire, peeling back enough tape to give you crimping room, and attach a crimp at each open end of the wire. Then you crimp two 5 foot lenghts of your new wire onto each crimp and run them up the A post and across the headliner to the map light/overhead compartment. Once that is done you can take the overhead compartment out and make your hole for your switch. I got mine at radioshack, it used a 3/4 hole and was the flushest I could find. You can install the switch anywhere you want though so don't take wire lenghts literally. I considered somewhere near the dash but didn't find anywhere I liked. Install the switch then solder on the two wire leads and then tuck in the excess before re-installing the whole unit. Then you're good to go. All lights are functional when the switch is off, ie when you turn the light on manually with its corresponding button.
  5. Ok I saw a movie where there were a bunch of guys who worked for an armored car company and then they decide to rob the truck, things got bad and the one guy trying to stop the robbery and save the cop who was shot put a fuse for the alarm back in. Long story short. I am wanting that same horn/siren but in my fusion, I already found the Horn/Siren, now I'm trying to figure out how to wire it in. does any one know of a place to cut the wire going to my horn so I can tie my siren into the Alarm output? I need my horn to still operate as the horn, and the alarm module to activate the siren I bought.
  6. Decided to remove the grill and plasti dip the 3 pieces. Check out the pics, turned out nice!!! Forgot to take a before pic, so I grabbed this one from the net. I let them dry overnight. Love the finish from this product!! BAM
