  1. I have a 2010 SEL. I noticed some wind noise the other day while my moonroof was shut. Upon closer inspection, my moonroof did not shut all the way in the front. It would not vent. It will open and shut, but not shut flush like before or vent. Upon further investigation, it appears that the deflector bar or plate on the front side, which is held up by three metal strings of some sort, will not go down when the glass tries to shut. If I hold it down with a screwdriver until the glass engages and then quickly get the screwdriver out of the way, it shuts perfect. It vents afterwards, too. But then, if I open the retract the glass back again, back to square one. So, the problem appears to be this deflector plate and getting it down so that the glass engages and seals. Any clue how to do so? By the way, I have tried the relearning process posted elsewhere, and it didn't help.
  2. I am having a problem with the moon roof on my car. It starts to open (either to vent or completely open) but the back left side does not move like the right side. How can I troubleshoot this problem? DO I have to take it to the dealership to get it fixed or can I repair it myself?
  3. Hello, I am considering buying a 2012 Fusion while they are still in stock, and I would love to get one with the moon&tune package. I've read mixed feedback on the amount of headroom the moonroof steals. I'm 6'3" and I currently drive a 2006 Fusion SE. If I adjust the seat properly (all the way back, down, and tilted back a notch or so) I have a couple of inches of clearance in my current ride. Can anybody share their experience with the current model with the moonroof?
  4. So I just traded in my 2010 Ford Fusion SE for a Honda Accord. First time I have ever traded a car in before it was paid for. Why? Here were the problems I dealt with: Throttle Body went out at 40,000 miles. This was well before the recall. Took the dealer my receipt last month and they told me that Ford may not reimburse since I did the repair myself. Drivers side door handle broke. Both headlight connectors melted (this was with the original headlights). As many of you know, accessing the headlights for the repair was a royal pain (connectors cost $35 a piece). I think this may be another common issue. Curiously, you cannot buy the original harness any more. Ford has replaced it with something that looks much sturdier Transmission begin to "shift hard" out of park. Having read about all the transmission issues with the Fusion, this had me worried. Final straw: moon roof would not close all the way. Wind deflector bar would not drop down allowing the roof to seal. Lost all faith in the reliability of this car. Traded it in and kept my Toyota Camry that is 10 years old and has 160,000 miles on it. Probably will never touch a Ford again.
  5. I have a 2012 Fusion Hybrid, and the moonroof has been acting up. At first it seemed like the button to fully open(the back button) was not working, but now, I have tilted it with the forward button, although I think it is only partially tilted up (about 1.5 inches). I cannot get it to move from this position. This might be the bouce-back position. If I try to overridde bounce-back (push forward button for a few seconds), it makes a little noise (it sounds like back in the pocket that the moonroof would go to if it fully opened), but it will not react from that point no matter what I try. I do not see anything stopping the moonroof. It is 60 degrees outside, so there cannot be any ice or anything like that. Also... to make sure this it not the issue. The inside panel is still accessible and not back in the pocket like it is when the moonroof is fully open. Any suggestions?
  6. I just purchased a used 2013 Ford Fusion Titanium and while I was driving it home I noticed the moonroof wasn't working. Upon further inspection, I also noticed that the interior lamps were also not working. I should have noticed this before I signed the papers, but now I am stuck. Does this sound like a fuse problem or do I have a bigger issue here? Thanks for all of your help.
  7. Late last year I went to use my sunroof (to open completely) when I heard a loud "pop" followed by the sunroof not retracting. Short of forking over the ~$1000 it will cost to diagnose and fix the problem, I was wondering if anyone on here has had a similar issue. I see many issues with the sunroof not closing, but mine is the opposite. What I know so far: Reaching up into the track area, behind the rubber debris guard on the driver's side, I discovered plastic chunks the size of small pebble When trying to retract the sunroof into the headliner, it will not move When trying to raise the sunroof, one side (the passenger side) will raise completely while the other sits flush with the roof of the car Any suggestions on what could be wrong or similar experiences you'd like to share? Thanks!
  8. I'm cheap and don't want to go to the dealer... 2010 Fusion SEL moonroof will not close/seal. It will not go into "vent" mode. When I press "open" it moves about two inches, then stops. Press open again and it'll complete the open cycle. When I press close it'll close to the 2inch point and stop. Press close again and it will close, but will not seal. And holding down the close/vent button for 5 seconds will cause the motor to move the window, but not into any desired position, which would be vent in this case. Is there a "relearn procedure" that's not confusing to understand that will fix this issue? I've tried one I found on-line, but I'm pretty sure it's for an older model, or I'm not doing it correctly, or both. I've also removed the fuse and checked the track for blockages.
  9. Hello guys. Recently my moonroof just out of nowhere started malfunctioning. I would click for it to slide open but it would jam and make a loud, rapid clicking noise as the motor kept trying to move it. But it would only open about an inch or so and then I'd click for it to go back into position. Now it doesn't make that loud jammed clicking noise. It just simply will not move very much. I've played around with it a bit but don't want to do any harm. Here is a video showing what it's doing now. If you have sound on you'll hear me explaining when it's being pushed forward and pushed back. Wondering if this is a motor problem or a sliding track problem. Any ideas on whether my mechanic could fix this or if it should be a Ford dealer mechanic? https://vimeo.com/52509510
  10. I have an 06 Fusion SEL with about 110K miles on it. Recently the sunroof stopped working intermittently. It has since stopped operating all together and when i press the switch i hear a pop or click noise. Would that be the motor? Relay? Any ideas on how to fix this without taking it to a mechanic?
