  1. So I was driving down the highway today and I set my cruise/speed control just like I always do. Maybe after like 10-15 minutes down the highway, my instant mileage reading came on. At first, it was just showing my mpg like the average of it. Then, like I said it instantly just switched over to instant mileage reading where it would go down if I stepped on the gas and would go back up if I started coasting or pressed the brake. I didn't press any buttons or anything. I have no idea how to change it back either. I tried looking in the owners manual and I couldn't find anything either. I have a 2007 Ford Fusion SE.
  2. Last month I picked up a ‘14 Fusion Energi Titanium with 120k. Really enjoying it so far but I need some insight around fuel economy. I’ve always had trucks so I’m new to the hybrid stuff. With EV mode off, I’m only getting 32-34 avg mpg (combined city & hwy) instead of the 44/41mpg estimates. I understand estimates vary but we’re talking 10 mpg lower. Does this seem low or normal for being a hybrid? It’s 6 years old with 120k so is there any sort of tune-up, maintenance, computer update, etc that I should look into? Secondly, the EV battery seems to be, well, useless. I plugged it in a couple times and the EV mode lasted idk like 6 or 7 miles from a full charge. I see Ford guarantees the battery up to 100k so does that mean my battery is now basically useless since I have 120k on the car? Is there anything I can do besides replacing the battery altogether? Am I getting lower fuel economy in hybrid mode cuz the battery may be toast? Thanks guys.
  3. What kind of fuel mileage are you getting with your Fusion Ecoboost? What engine do you have?
  4. I have a 2008 fusion 2.3L with 83k miles. I have owned it since 2009. Originally I got 32 to 34mpg on highway and over 25mpg in town. Now I am lucky to get 27 mpg on highway and 18 mpg in town. I replace oil regularly, have replaced spark plugs once. I noticed the mpg drop a couple years after I bought it. I took it to the dealer and they said nothing was wrong. Never had a check engine light. But I just feel I should be getting better mpg. I have not replaced the O2 sensors. Could that help, even if I do not have a code? Are there other things I should check or replace?
  5. Hi Guys, I just recently bought a used 2010 Ford Fusion SE 2.5 with 91000 odometer reading. I am getting around 25-26 mpg Highway is this normal/acceptable for this car's age? May I know what are you getting on your 2.5 fusions? I didnt observed yet my city and mixed MPGs. Thanks in advance for your inputs!

    high mileage

Hey just signed up to be a member, first post! Just wondering who has the most miles on their fusion. Im not going to win but I have an 07 I4 manual and just passed 80k miles today. Had it since 5 miles on the odometer. I average between 24-26 mpg so it is keeping me pretty happy and no major repairs. Just headlights and routine maintenance.
  7. Hey all, I just wanted your opinion on this, and my apologies if the answer ends up being obvious. My Fusion just crossed over 2,500 miles, and the fuel economy has been getting better. I've realized that I do a lot more city-style driving than I ever thought, and I'm now very aware of all the stops and starts I have in my daily commute. I also downloaded an app for my iPhone that tracks my average speed, and that's been pretty helpful as well. All that being the back story, I live in St. Louis equidistant between two major highways that both lead to work. The route I've been taking in the 3 years I've lived there is only about 7.5 miles, which includes 9 stops (traffic lights and stop signs) between my house and the highway, and once I get on the highway, it's about 3.5 miles before I'm getting off onto another city street to go to work. The other route I could go (which I took this morning) is 4 miles longer, but between my house and that highway are only 5 potential stops (all traffic lights, so potentially only one or two if I'm lucky), plus there's 4 more miles of highway driving, and I still get off at the same city street for work, so that end doesn't change at all. My question is if it's more efficient to go the shorter route mile-wise with more stops and starts, or the longer route with more consistent speeds? TL;DR version: is it more fuel efficient to drive shorter with more stops OR longer with a more consistent speed? Thanks all!
  8. I currently own a 2010 Fusion Sport. Recently I was at my Ford dealer for service, when I noticed the new Fusion. I walked over to take a look at it and was hooked. It's beautiful inside and out. When I noticed the 2.0L gets an EPA 22mpg city, and 33mpg highway and scoots from 0 - 60 in under 7 seconds I became intrigued. My Fusion Sport can easily make the grade when it comes to acceleration, but I get 18 mpg city and 28 to 29 mpg highway. Seeing an opportunity to perhaps upgrade I took it for a test drive. I test drove a FWD 2.0L Titanium. Before we left the dealer parking lot I reset the mileage tracker, then let the sales rep guide me thru his routine test drive. It was all back roads with only 2 stop lights. The car got 20.5 mpg on the trip. Afterward I took my Fusion Sport thru the exact same test drive route. My car got 24.5 mpg. Thinking maybe it was a fluke (because I really want to like this car), I went to a different dealer today and tried my same test again. This time the 2.0L got 17.5 mpg and my car got 21 mpg on the same route. I realize this isn't a completely fair test. It's a short drive, I'm carrying a sales rep with me in the 2.0L but not in my Sport, and the 2.0L hasn't been broken in yet. However my instincts are telling me that none of these excuses are going to make up this mpg gap. Perhaps actual MPG for these cars is going to be no improvement over my current car. Am I wrong? My Sport isn't anywhere near an MPG world beater. Can anyone explain what's going on here? I wonder if the 2.0L would get significantly better mileage with Premium gas. Seems like the kind of engine that would run best on premium.
  9. Hello all, I recently performed my first upgrade on my 2009 Fusion SEL V6. I purchased Magnaflow catback kit 16675 and installed it with a few friends who have worked on their cars many times before. After installing the exhaust system, I get a nice clean sound from it, but I notice my city MPG have dropped from an average 18 to 13, and highway has dropped from 28 to 22. Any ideas? I changed my oil before the install and unhooked the battery for ~10 minutes to reset the ECU. Thanks, ~Jason
