  1. So the transmission dial in my 2017 fusion makes noise the moment I get into the car before I start it. It used to do this then stop which I think is the proper routine. However now whenever I enter the car it immediately starts making some kind of buzzing/electronic noise until I start on the car or legitimately slap it. No joke if I lightly slap the dial it immediately stops. I have never taken apart transmission dial assembly but I assume the dial is attempting to catch on something however fails to unless I apply force or start the car. I will ask my mechanic (who is the mechanic for my local ford dealership) once my oil change comes around. Also recently my dial has been freezing and locking up however, it only happens maybe once a week or every other week and immediately corrects itself. any thoughts/ideas on what's causing this?
  2. So I've been trying to diagnose this problem myself for the longest time and my local dealer doesn't even wanna try and help me, all they wanna do is try and sell me a new car. I like this car and would much rather keep it. I got the car about a year ago, had it for three days and then my mom backed into it with a 2017 Ford Explorer, it wasn't a hard impact so it was only minor damage. The engine runs fine and it does show any signs of loss of power nor are there any odd fluctuations in the RPMs. However, there is this strange rattling noise that I have no clue what could be causing it. If anyone may have any ideas or solutions it would be greatly appreciated. All I want it a quite engine Also, I've attached videos to listen to the sound. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1cDXDEoUlHvTVdqnwk-egraKAA3FsfRf5?usp=sharing
  3. I finally fixed it! The rear clunking, clanging and banging is now gone. This is how I did it: (What Does a Worn Blown Out Shock Absorber Look Like? How to Replace (Lincoln mkZ, Ford Fusion | Second Generation)
  4. Heat and ac defrost work fine all zones when I accelerate from a stop sounds like a golf or ping pong ball in such/dash same when I turn. If I slow down abruptly sounds like a vent door slamming. ?????driving me nuts
  5. I purchased a 2015 Ford Fusion Titanium new and currently have 2200 miles on it. It has developed a noisy rattle/buzz in the drivers side door. I can tap on the soft touch portion of the door above the interior latch (from door lock almost to the front) and hear it buzz. I took it to dealers and explained, they said they fixed it 'per ford specs' and said a clip was loose. Driving home it was doing the exact same thing. Strange thing is on the passenger side, when you tap the same area it sounds solid and makes no noise. Drivers side sounds hollow behind the soft touch panel. Is there some sound deadening material behind there that maybe was overlooked? Vibrations are heard when certain notes are played on stereo (I dont crank the bass!). Looking for anyone else with similar issue or hoping someone from Ford actually reads this and cares about customer satisfaction. Thanks! G
  6. Good evening, Okay so I bought a 2014 Ford Fusion on July 2nd with 57,xxx miles on it, and I've noticed it has a really loud groaning sound when idling and while driving, not coming from the engine itself but seems to be coming from the air intake system? As an example when I take the intake lid off the box with the air filter, the sound is extremely loud. I took it to my local Ford dealership and they just laughed me off the lot, and didn't tell me anything. So I am curious if you guys have any idea what the cause could be. I've not noticed any kind of power loss, it's just always making this sound. Might mention that when I am accelerating the sound "sorta" goes away. Just becomes quieter.
  7. I have a 2014 Ford Fusion Energi Titanium with 153K miles. I started to hear a clunking noise from the front of the car when applying tension to the drive shaft. I noticed it more while sitting in traffic and driving at slow speeds. When I let off the gas or tap the gas pedal, I hear a clunking noise like metal to metal. I thought it might be loose drive shaft. I took it to the dealership and they told me it was the transmission. To fix it they would have to take the transmission apart and find out exactly what was wrong. They recommended a complete transmission replacement at the cost of $7,500. Needless to say, I am not going to spend that kind of money to fix a car with 153K miles. Anyone else have this issue? Anyone resolve it? I am worried it is going to totally break and leave me stranded but I can't afford $7,500 for a new transmission. Thoughts? Thank you. Kevin
  8. Occasionally, my 2014 Ford Fusion Hybrid with 23,000 miles will have a loud squeak (like the noise from the wiper motor shaft turning inside a rubber seal boot) with each stroke of the Driver's side Wiper Blade. It seems to be coming from the windshield, but I believe the noise is simply reflecting off of the windshield, because the wiper blade does not chatter on the glass. I have installed a brand new wiper blade without improving the occasional problem. I can find no reference to a similar problem by using the internet ... and of course it never happens when I'm visiting the dealership. Has anyone encountered a similar symptom .......... and knows how to fix it?
  9. I have a 2016 titanium that recently began to hum on the hwy between 60-64 mph. No vibrations, nothing out of alignment, doesnt dissipate if changing lanes turning - running Nexen Tires 30,000 miles on them. I put on 600-700 miles per week. About to drive 1000 miles from Milwaukee wi to Panama city beach. Help.
  10. Anybody else have an issue with wind noise being excessive from the passenger door? I also have a problem with the door opening hard due to the rubber seal sneaking it's way out of the channel and causing interference between front and rear door of passenger side. I have 2013 Fusion SE with Appearance Package and 2.0L EcoBoost
  11. My 2013 FFH Titanium makes a terribly loud noise when the engine starts charging the battery. Anyone have similar? 5A1552C3-4AB1-4E17-B946-71FFEDCC2846.mp4
  12. Just purchased a 2017 Ford Fusion Hybrid from carvana with about 29k miles. There is a passenger side, rear high pitched metal scraping noise that I am not sure what it is. Only audible to me on quiet streets driving under 50mph. I posted the sound on Youtube, link below. Any help would be great. Thank you! https://www.youtube....eature=youtu.be
  13. Good day fellow Fusion Enthusiasts! I’ve searched through the forums and not found a noise/knock thread that matches what I’m hearing. Engine is the 2.0L Ecoboost, 67000 miles, FWD. After 5-7 seconds after start, a distinct tick/knock can be heard from the engine bay at idle. As soon as any gas is given, the noise goes away. It can get worse when the A/C is on, becoming a slightly louder grumble, but still only at idle. Any gas seems to “smooth things out” and the noise goes away. Probing around the engine by feel and listening, it initially sounded like it was the tensioner pully, which I replaced. Unfortunately, it didn’t do anything to the noise. I also removed both the serpentine and A/C belt to see if it was the A/C compressor and ran the engine with the sound still present. I’ve checked the oil levels which are fine. Water pump, idler pulley and alternator seem fine as I “listen” around the engine with a long screwdriver + milk jug. I can “feel” the sound most prominently from the back of the tensioner pully, but again, I’ve replaced this to no avail. I’m worried that it may be the timing chain. To help you listen to the noise, I took the following video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=60cHanDJ2DU It also can be the last thing I hear when I shut off the engine, one last good tick/knock. Sometimes this noise completely goes away or is so intermittent that it seems to have gone away. I haven’t been able to establish a good patern since it’s there when it’s cold and hot, but can go away in both conditions too. It seems to go away after running for a while. Thank you for any insights you can give to this vexing issue.
  14. First off, I've tried searching multiple fusion threads but I havn't come across any similar threads with my same specific issues. So i'm hoping i can get some ideas on a diagnosis. I've taken the car into the dealer before on the issue, they blamed the worn out tires and sent me on my way (I've replace those now with zero change on the issue). Here's the quick explanation: The faster I go, the more I hear a hum, vibration, and now more recent a hum/vibration/grinding sound coming from the front engine bay of the car. I've been trying to diagnose it for awhile now (i'm fairly car savy) but this one stumps me. Here are a couple points that might help in diagnosing the issue: The noise is directly related to the speed of the car and the input on the gas peddle. When above 45MPH I start to hear the hum/grind of the noise above the regular road noise and it is progressively more noticeable as the speed increases. Between 80-85 MPH the hum/grind noise hits its peak and sounds like it resonates with the resonating point of the car. Its as bad as a high revving 4 banger with an exaust leak. At all speeds I can press and unpress the gas peddle to momentarily make the hum/grind noise to go away but it will then return after half a seconds time. If I leave the peddle press or unpressed(decelerating in the process) the hum/grind noise is constant. Forcing the car to change gears has no effect on the pitch or sound of the hum/grind noise. "Only the speed and gas peddle inputs change to pitch and momentarily make the hum/grind turn off for a moment" Things I believe I've ruled out: Out of balance tires or rims, breaks or rotors. Driver side front wheel bearing (replaced), I don't think its the passenger front either (No change in noise by harsh steering adjustments) Things I'm worried about: Drive train? Half Axles? Transmission? Engine mounts or linkages? Intake or exhaust issues? Turbo Issue? (I still have great performance tho) Any thoughts? Those are some potentially BIG and EXPENSIVE repairs that would be above my DIY car repair level. So i've been reluctant to bring my car in for diagnosis but its getting worse and now sound more like a vibration/hum with grinding as opposed to more a hum/vibration like it was 5k miles ago. Thanks, Brady Car: 80K miles 2014 Fusion 2.0 EB
  15. I've got a 2006 Ford Fusion with about 105,000km on it (66,000 mi) and it has a rubbing noise coming from it from when I bought it used. It's gotten quite bad now and is audible even when the car is stopped. I've had the rear catalytic converter replaced and my mechanic didn't mention anything. I know a engine mount needs to be replaced but would that be the cause of the noise? It seems once the car is warmed up the noise isn't quite as bad. Was wondering if anyone else had the same problem or if they knew where it might be coming from?
  16. Hi everyone, I've been reading through this forum and others to try to figure out a strange noise coming from my 2011 Ford Fusion SE with no luck. I only notice the noise when it is hot outside, like more than 70F. It doesn't matter how long I have been driving. It's a creaking/knocking noise that seems like it's coming from the front of the vehicle. I hear it when I turn the steering wheel and also whenever the entire body of the car moves up and down (like when a person gets in and out of the driver's or passenger's seat. I took it to the Ford dealership about two weeks because I thought it might be the power steering since I hear the noise when turning the steering whee.l It was cold and rainy that day and the dealership didn't hear anything so they didn't fix anything. I have uploaded a video of the sound I keep hearing. You can hear it inside and outside the vehicle. This was the sound at its worst when it was about 85F outside. In the video, the steering wheel is being turned left and right. https://youtu.be/6AoGCK4fMRU Any help the forum can provide would be greatly appreciated. I can never seem to make it to a mechanic on a day when it's making the sound and I'm worried because I have a long road trip coming up soon.
  17. Hey guys, This has been happening for about 3 weeks now. After my car runs for about ~3 minutes, this noise (video in link) will continuously happen. Any thoughts? Thanks a lot! Video: https://youtu.be/is1HffMLCk0 Recent work: new brakes, recall work on power steering, replaced coolant pump (don't know terminology). One weird thing to note is that it will temporarily stop whenever I press the gas going into a turn, but then it returns as soon as I am going straight again
  18. Hello, A few months ago, I had ST coilovers (part #90321) installed on my 2012 Fusion at a local shop. The install went well at first and the car handled great. However, after a few weeks the car developed a loud clunk/popping noise in the rear left. I took it back to the original shop and they thought it was likely a bad endlink. So I ended up replacing the endlink to no avail, the noise was still there after. Next, I took the car to another local shop and they had an idea that it was the spring isolator. I emailed ST and they said there should be no isolator installed, just the spring perch included in the original kit. So I sent them a picture of both sides and they said both sides looked ok. They thought that one side was probably a little higher than the other and sure enough they were right - the left side was about half an inch off so I raised it. Still no luck, the car is a little less harsh now but the annoying clunk is still there. I'm wondering if it's possibly a bushing - such as one in the Upper Control Arm making this noise and the shops are missing it. It's been driving me crazy and I'm not sure what the next option is short of reverting to stock. Thanks for reading! Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.
  19. My 2012 ford fusion has 114,000 miles on it. It recently started making a low "humming" noise after high speeds. The car will start up fine and act normal but after I get off the highway and park my car, I can hear it humming. (it's not the tires because it's coming from the engine.) It's also is accompanied with a slight vibration near the air filter. I live in Florida so it gets very hot, which makes it act worse. When it's in park, cooling down, the humming gets less and less noticeable, eventually stopping all together after a few minutes. All the fluids are changed and I also recently replaced the idler pulley. Sorry if this is in the wrong topic, I'm new to the forum. If anyone has an idea as to what might be wrong, that would greatly help. I'm at loss!
  20. Hey guys, 08 ford fusion 5-speed. In the last year, i have replaced both front struts (twice), both sway bar links (twice) and the outer tie rods. I also replaced the strut mounts with brand new units both times. I put monroe sensa tracs on the first time and started to get a "clunking" noise, i took it to get an inspection where i was told everything is tight and that it is the nature of the Monroe struts. I did some research and found that KYB struts are OEM so after some time and gradual increase to the "clunking" noise, i installed KYB struts. Both times i replaced the sway bar links for good measure. Now that i have the KYB struts it was nice and quiet for almost 2 weeks, now i get a "rattle" noise without a lot of suspension travel, just a small bumb at low speed all the way up to faster speeds, same "rattle" I took it again this morning for an inspection and was told that everything is tight. I have physically checked every bolt, bushing and component in the front end and am now at a loss... Any and all help would be substantially appreciated. Thanks
  21. I have a 2008 Fusion AWD 3.0L that has an intermittent "whine". Under moderate acceleration I occasionally get a weird humming, whine noise at around 2500-3000 rpm that increases in volume with speed until the car upshifts. It mostly happens when the car is cold and is worse when the weather is cold. I don't feel and vibrations and haven't noticed any physical issues that could account for the noise. I'm wondering if anyone has any idea what it would be, I'd like to find any possible major problems before they become major. http://s289.photobucket.com/user/nasoj007/media/20161210_130049_zpsudc0f5qc.mp4.html Edit: Added link to short video.
  22. Help S.O.S!!! When my car is running at idle and stopped i can her a slight rattle in the back seat area. Dealer checed and ssaid it wasn't the exhaust. Any thoughts, or ideas to suggest before itake it in again tomorrow? Thank you much Cody
  23. I have a 2013 Fusion, Ecoboost, six speed. 48,000 miles. I have a noise coming from high on the dash, near the defroster/windshield. Only happens when moving over 25 mph and gets louder/faster as car speed increases. Turning HVAC system off has NO affect on the sound. Very hard to describe noise. Almost sounds like constant radio static, but not electronic, it sounds mechanical. Noise completely stops when car comes to a stop. Also, the noise did start about 1000 miles ago and seems to be getting louder. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
  24. I took my 2012 Ford fusion into the dealer at about 15,000 miles because it was making a horrible noise in the engine bay. The technician determined it was a pulley bracket and after replacement the issue seemed to be resolved but the next day the check engine light came on and the car began running rough. I took it back to the shop and they determined the CVT solenoid had to be replaced (don't think this as a coincidence since it was worked on the day before). Ever since this repair the car seemed to make a ticking noise when cold and it seems to be getting louder over time. I've had it into the dealer 3 times over this noise and they keep telling me there is nothing wrong with the car and its normal engine noise. Please listen for yourself and provide me with any feedback you may have.
  25. Hello everyone. My mom and I purchased a 2010 Fusion SE 2.5L 6sp auto with 86,000 and change miles about a month ago. About the last two weeks or so I have notice a noise similiar to popping (perhaps). It only seems to happen AFTER I have stopped backing up, put gear in drive, and start driving forward a couple of feet, that I hear about 2 or 3 pops. No other noises afterwards. I don't think it happens every time we drive forward coming out of reverse but it happens enough to raise an eyebrow here and there. Should we be concern? Are we turning the wheels to hard? Any opinions/advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks yall :-)
