  1. Hello, I have a 2015 Ford Fusion SE 1.5L EcoBoost FWD. I was wondering if anyone could give me an explanation of what I'm looking at here and any suggestions where oil might be leaking from. I haven't worked on cars newer than 1999 before and I have never worked on a FWD four cylinder so I have no idea what I'm looking at half the time. I circled a part in green, not sure what it is but I'm guessing it's some kind of vacuum solenoid? I also circled a hose in blue, I believe it is an oil hose and I thought the leak was coming from there but I tightened it and still have a leak. It looks like oil is dripping from the area circled in red, but again I have no clue what I'm looking at. Any help would be great! Thanks!
  2. Oil is leaking from this area but cannot tell where? Please any information would be tremendous! Thanks.
  3. Can any one help me I just noticed that there is an oil leak under my engine. Noticed it when I was cleaning the tire.. there was no oil stain on my garage floor . Please help me where is this and what’s the best fix for this thank you.. Also is this fixable thank you
  4. I have been chasing an oil leak on the 2.3 in my 08 milan. I replaced the valve cover gasket, which was definitely shot. I still kept finding the CKP drenched in oil. Suspects were the front main or the timing cover gasket. It seemed the drip was rather minor, but it would get onto the passenger axle and that splatters it all over the back side of the engine and the exhaust manifold, which makes for some less than pleasant stench in the cab. I did the front main and that seal was harder than paper with no tension, but I don't think it was leaking much. Now onto the timing cover. Who here has pulled it while in the car? How do you get the clearance to get it out? Mitchell says to only pull water pump pulley but it seems I need to either pull the water pump or the ac compressor, maybe both. As I mentioned, I already tried the front main, so I'm aware of the timing requirements for the engine and have done that procedure once now.
  5. Hello Fusion Forum, I'm new to this site as a member, but I've visited it frequently over the years, always great advice here! I have a 2007 fusion v6 FWD w/ 126,000 miles on it. I've always made an oil change within 5,000 mi and roughly 75% of the recent miles were long highway trips on cruise (100+ mi). During my last 2 oil changes (Aug 2014 & Nov 2014) the techs told me that I had very small leaks showing up on the engine, though I had not noticed any spots on the floor at home when checking. I tried a Stop Leak engine oil additive at 123,000 and by 124,000 I started seeing spotting on the garage floor. Now there are a few more spots and I took the car in to the shop to find out what's all leaking. I asked around and found a shop that was highly recommended by a vehicle fleet manager because they don't BS anything. According to the shop I have these oil leaks: - Both oil pan & gasket - Front crankshaft seal - Rear crankshaft seal - Camshaft seal They said they needed to pull the motor to fix everything and the bill would be roughly $2500, they did not recommend fixing it, but rather cleaning it and trading it. Which I'm now inclined to do. This car has spent it's entire life in harsh Minnesota and North Dakota winters, and has generally had 10% ethanol gas in it (it's almost impossible to find straight gasoline anymore here in the plains). Any other theories (besides the ethanol and cold weather factors) on why all of these went bad all at once? Thanks!
  6. Hey, I'm quite worry about a lot of oil covering the threads and bottom of the middle two spark plugs. The other two are good. I heard that if oil on the bottom, it means mechanical issue and may need expensive repair. I replaced valve cover gasket today. After I pulled the valve cover, there was just a little oil on the top part. After I unscrew the plug, the threads and bottom was covered by oil. I think I will check them again tomorrow or after drive a while. Car runs fine. No engine light on. But I'm thinking about it. Anyone have any ideas? I'm on a tight budget, can't bring this to a mechanic. Its a 2007 fusion, 2.3l. Thanks!
  7. Hello and apologize for this naive question: how hard is it to replace the valve cover gaskets? Just returned from the dealer after an oil change. The technician recommended 'to replace valve cover gaskets (leaking oil) cost for parts and labor $783.60; due to oil leak the engine drive belt to be replaced $92.50.' The tech said the parts were about $200, while the labor was about 6 hours. I am clueless on cars, nonetheless shocked by the price sticker. On Youtube, a guy demonstrated replacing the valve cover gaskets on another model of car in literally 3 minutes, while the cost of an OEM valve cover gaskets being somewhere $15 more or less. Having that said, the real question is: does the design of Fusion made it more involved for this job? Mine is a 2007 Fusion V6 SEL AWD, with 50,000 miles on it. Is the above estimate reasonable? Sure I don't want to risk my car to the hands of unqualified technician, but does it worth the effort to shop around? Upon a rouge (untrained of course) visual inspection, no stains were found. Therefore I assume the 'leak' might be 'minor'. A second question, will it be safe to postpone this repair? If so, by how long before it compromise the safety and integraty of the car? Thank you for your thoughts and input.
