  1. I recently took my car in to the ford dealership because it was misfiring and I had a p0087 code. Turned out the HPFP was bad so paid to have it replaced. The cam follower was worn thru(pump was replaced nonetheless with a new tappet( cam follower). The service rep said there was a bunch of sludge in the engine and he couldnt tell why since the car is in for maintenance every 5k miles. Car worked fine after HPFP and tappet replacement. One week passed by and the issue reoccured. Took the car back and they said the tappet was worn thru again so they replaced it at no cost. Its been a week and I have the p0087 code again and the misfire. I pulled the pump out myself this morning and the tappet has worn thru again. What is going on? Lack of lubrication or what? Any ideas on what I need to do to fix this. Can the cover for the small cam that actuated the HPFP be removed to inspect the area for a plugged up passage that might be restricting oil flow? I attached pics from the first time I took it in.
