  1. I'm having an issue with my 2016 ford fusion 2.5. 63k mil. When coming to a stop in drive, there is a noticable ratling noise from the engine bay accompanied by an occasional idle surge. The rpm will slightly drop, and when it does the whole car will pulsate and will shake for a second (i can feel it in the seat). Running the car with the ac on will make the noise and idle worse. Ac is fine and blows cold air. I've gotten the top (main) motor mount replaced ~1000 miles ago, which is what the dealer determined. Drives much better, But the issue persists. Other than that, the transmission has gotten a bit wonky lately and shifting feels harder than usual. No check engine light. I'm suspecting the chain tensioner/ac pulley bearing may be bad but I am not sure on what could be the problem. Would greatly appreciate any advise on this.
  2. I purchased a 2015 Ford Fusion Titanium new and currently have 2200 miles on it. It has developed a noisy rattle/buzz in the drivers side door. I can tap on the soft touch portion of the door above the interior latch (from door lock almost to the front) and hear it buzz. I took it to dealers and explained, they said they fixed it 'per ford specs' and said a clip was loose. Driving home it was doing the exact same thing. Strange thing is on the passenger side, when you tap the same area it sounds solid and makes no noise. Drivers side sounds hollow behind the soft touch panel. Is there some sound deadening material behind there that maybe was overlooked? Vibrations are heard when certain notes are played on stereo (I dont crank the bass!). Looking for anyone else with similar issue or hoping someone from Ford actually reads this and cares about customer satisfaction. Thanks! G
  3. I have an extremely annoying plastic rattling noise in my dash up by the windshield while driving. The long vent for defrosting seems to be an issue. When I press down on the end of the vent toward the passenger side the rattling goes away or you can barley hear it. Of course the rougher the road the louder the rattling. It sounds like something down in there. Anyone having this problem? I don't want to have to go to the dealer if I don't have too, it's such a hassle. I have seen similar topics about this but none have mentioned the defrosting vent by the windshield.
  4. Hi, I have searched on this forum for over an hour and could not find an issue similar to mine. I bought a used 2016 Ford Fusion about 5 weeks ago and instantly noticed some problems with the car. I thought this would be no issue because I bought a $3300, no deposit warranty with it, which I was told is "bumper to bumper." The main issue I am having is an extremely noisy center console and armrest, which sounds like creaky, cheap plastic. Now I am thinking that this would be no issue, covered by my warranty. But terrible Ford says NOPE! That is going to cost you $1400+ to repair. FOURTEEN HUNDRED DOLLARS TO FIX A CREAK IN THE ARMREST!!!! Is there anyone else with a similar issue? The creak happens anywhere from lightly laying my arm on the rest to leaning fully on the armrest. It is loud and ANNOYING. Thankfully Ford decided to warranty bubbling paint on the roof, and refill my transmission fluid, from which an entire quart of liquid was missing (how does that happen?) Ford has been dragging their feet terribly on this, and they have had my car for THREE AND A HALF weeks. I have barely been able to even drive the damn car. Is this normal for Ford warranty work? This brand is so terrible. Any and all help is appreciated. P.S. I owned two Chevy Malibus before that and there was more value in half of the bumper than in the entirety of this Fusion. I cannot wait to switch back.
  5. Hey guys, 08 ford fusion 5-speed. In the last year, i have replaced both front struts (twice), both sway bar links (twice) and the outer tie rods. I also replaced the strut mounts with brand new units both times. I put monroe sensa tracs on the first time and started to get a "clunking" noise, i took it to get an inspection where i was told everything is tight and that it is the nature of the Monroe struts. I did some research and found that KYB struts are OEM so after some time and gradual increase to the "clunking" noise, i installed KYB struts. Both times i replaced the sway bar links for good measure. Now that i have the KYB struts it was nice and quiet for almost 2 weeks, now i get a "rattle" noise without a lot of suspension travel, just a small bumb at low speed all the way up to faster speeds, same "rattle" I took it again this morning for an inspection and was told that everything is tight. I have physically checked every bolt, bushing and component in the front end and am now at a loss... Any and all help would be substantially appreciated. Thanks
  6. I have a 2013 fusion that I purchased as a Certified Pre-owned vehicle about a month ago with 15,000 miles on it. Since I purchased the vehicle I have taken it to my local ford dealer 5 times becasue of a rattle in the speakers/doors. the result of each visit was: 1. after i picked it up and noticed nothing was fixed i called them and they said that they couldnt find anything wrong. so I scheduled visit #2. 2. I sat in the car with the tech and they said they heard the noise so after inspection they ordered a new speaker and told me to bring it back the next day. 3. they instaled the speaker and returned the car to me claiming it was fixed but it wasnt. 3. they replaced a trim piece on the drivers door and again claimed it was fixed when it wasnt. 4. they repaced the same trim piece on the other 3 doors and yet again claimed it was fixed when it wasnt. 5. they took the door pannels off and told me they thought something had gotten between the speaker and the door pannel on the drivers side and yet again returned the car to me unfixed. what could the problem be? the dealer says they cannot find anything abnormal but the rattle is terrible and very anoying. has anyone had experience with this issue? is there anything else i need to tell the dealer to check?
  7. New to the forum, hopefully this is the correct area to be posting this. Hoping someone could give me a little help on this. I have a 2008 Fusion that has a rattle from hell when the engine is at an idle and under some sort of load, power steering, A/C, the alternator, whatever. Sound like marbles in a can. It is especially bad when the car is in gear. You can watch the serpentine belt tensioner jump around as it makes this noise, and if you apply some sort of pressure to the tensioner while it it running it stops. With the belt off everything seems to spin freely. I've already replaced the tensioner (with a Motorcraft one), belt, idler pulleys and the alternator when it gave out. It's been going on for a while now and I can't seem to figure out what is causing it, and I can't really afford to throw parts at it since I'm going to school at the moment. Is there some way to diagnose what is causing this? Or has anyone else had a similar problem? I've hit a bit of a brick wall here, as I do not know how to check what could be causing this.
  8. Hi everyone, So I noticed that toward the end of my trips (in Chicago, pretty cold here) that when I go over any sort of bump, slow or fast, and sometimes even while idling, there'll be a rattling coming from the passenger side of the dash. So when I got to work this morning I did a little experiment: I hear the rattling while I drive down the access road to my building. The heat has been on for a good 40 mins at this point in my commute. I parked and turned on the AC (not advisable in 18º weather, btw) and let the car cool down for about 30 seconds. Then I drove down the same access road. No rattling. I parked and turned on the heat for about 30 seconds and drove down the same road. The rattling was back. I repeated this experiment about 3 times just to be sure. Same results. So my understanding is that something is expanding on the passenger side that's rubbing up against another piece of plastic and that's what's causing the rattling. What do you guys think? Has this happened to anybody else? Thanks! EDIT: I have a 2012 SE
  9. Hello Everyone, I have a 2013 Fusion Titanium that I purchased at the end of January, it's only about 10 months old. About 1 month ago this VERY annoying rattling started coing from the roof area where the two overhead lights are and where I believe the bluetooth microphone is at. If I touch the plastic peice and push up on it just a tad bit it stops. It is getting very very annoying to have this and the car is not even a year old yet. Whenever I speak to somebody on the phone they say it sounds like there is a can of marbles rolling around unless I touch the plastic peice, which makes it stop. Has anyone else experienced this and do you know if it is covered under the warranty? Thanks for any advice, I'll post a picture momentarily. All The Best, Eric
  10. This is driving me crazy. I have a rattle in or around my dash of my 2013 Fusion SE equiped with Myfordtouch. I first thought it was the instrument panel (left lower side) but if I gently bump the top of the dash, it sounds like it may originate from there. I have tried stuffing a card in the cracks, holding certain areas of the instrument panel and no luck. Every small bump run over makes it rattle. To bad, up until now, this has been one of my favorite cars! Anyone have any ideas? Will a dealer even fix this?

Here is some documentation on where the rattling noise was coming from.
