  1. My 2010 Fusion has a small rust area under the top edge of the windsheild. Narrow, about 1.5" side to side extending about .5" under the glass. Any way to mitigate this that's less intrusive than removing and remounting the windsheild?
  2. Does anyone have experience with the Ford Sectioning or Body Repair guidelines and Workshop publications for 2006-2009 Fusion or Milan? I find it odd that Ford Service offers free publications for only a few models / years but doesn't support the Fusion at all in these publications.
  3. Hello! So I'm having a problem with my vehicle and my usual trusty Google fu is not helping track down an answer or even a starting point. Back story: fiancee may have left lights on which finally killed the 12v battery in the trunk or at least that's my working theory, the car was completely dead, I tried jumping it using the points under the hood and when I went to start it with the push button it blinked rapidly and a warning saying stop safely now came on the dash, which I found humorous as of course the car was already stopped! Anyway, I have some knowledge of your standard ICE Motors so figure the 12v battery is either going out or dead. Took the battery to parts store and it tested bad. Bought a new battery, replaced it and I'm still getting the blinking light from the start button and the warning to pull over safely now. My question is could there be a fuse that potentially blew when the 12v died? Is there a way to possibly reset the whole car? Any further diagnostic I can do to determine if this has caused a bigger problem like a dead HV battery? I can't afford to have it towed to a shop nor can I afford really replacing the apparently 6000 dollar battery. Any insights or tricks or sacrifices I can do to get this thing running again will be greatly appreciated. Additional info : car has 70,000 miles, it has the mykey type ignition (can't remember what it's actually called) all accessory lights work, 12v is a brand new battery, and when I push the button I can hear the normal clicking noise from around the car I've come accustomed to hearing, it just won't go into drive mode, and the stop safely now warning comes on.
  4. Hello everyone! I live in Santos, São Paulo, Brazil, and usually send my 2010 Ford Fusion to this repair shop here in Santos. This one in particular was very difficult to find and recommended to me by a number of friends. However, I recently heard some rumors about this repair shop that shook a 3 year "relationship". I would like to know if the Fusion enthusiasts of this forum have any recommendations of trustworthy, Ford specialized repair shops for mechanical and electrical services in São Paulo state. Thank you all.
  5. While shifting through gears 1st - 3rd there is no issues. When the vehicle attempts to engage the 4th gear, the engine revs up a bit, but it is not excessive revving, feels like computer rev matching. During this time, there is no slippage, no grinding, no other notable or noticeable problems. The gear simply does not engage. After a few moments (3-5 seconds) it feels as though the computer recognizes a fault, and attempts to engage the last known working gear... Which unfortunately is often 2nd gear as it seems the computer will skip 3rd gear depending on acceleration applied. This causes a jolt, but feels normal for an automatic getting dropped into a lower gear while going a high speed for that gear. After some looking around, I read somewhere that it's possible this was a problem with one of the solenoids. I was curious if anyone else has had this problem, and what they did for a fix. I broke the vehicle down where needed to get into the solenoid valve body area. All I am waiting on is to replace them, but I didn't want to make a purchase if someone else was to say "WAIT, I DID THIS AND IT WORKED". Call me a rookie, I deserve it -- but when I went to drain the transmission fluid It was nasty, and smelled terrible. Could this cause an otherwise operable solenoid to temporarily malfunction? Here is the eBay page showing the solenoids I'm looking at: http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/132018268320?lpid=82&chn=ps&ul_noapp=true
  6. Hey Guys, I haven't been around for a long while, and wasn't that active here when I was. But, I could definitely use some help. I just moved from Oregon to Colorado, and before I left I had a Ford dealership in Oregon change my oil. Fast forward a few weeks, my car broke down on a family trip in Colorado (thankfully not during my move) making a loud clicking noise from the block and was towed to the closest dealership in Colorado, who discovered tool marks on a cracked oil filter housing where all of the oil leaked out, destroying my engine. The check engine light had not come on at all, and the oil pressure light flicked on for less than a second while cornering one or two times, but was not on for at least 5 days prior to the break down. Currently, the dealer that changed my oil is stating that it isn't completely their fault because I had one oil change at a different place (not Jiffy Lube) and there is no way that they (the dealer) claim they, "could not have caused" the tool marks, which obviously isn't true as they could have caused the damage. More importantly, however, is that I would expect them to inspect the oil filter housing when they change the oil, or if there is obvious damage to the filter housing as the Colorado dealer stated, it should have been easy for them to see and report to me. There is no documentation of the damaged housing on the invoice returned to me, or any verbal report when I picked up my car as it was in "great shape." The dealer has been awful, and numerous others have had other poor experiences with this dealership regarding service. 1. Thoughts? What would you guys do to get the dealer to pay for the damage that they caused? 2. I have been looking for the 2009 Fusion Service manual to look at torquing specs of the oil filter plug, it if states the housing should be inspected, etc. Does anybody have an official service manual and can they send me scans/pictures of the pages regarding oil changes? 3. I don't think I'm out of line here regarding their responsibility for the damage, however I might be. I'll take feedback on that too. Thanks! Skipbo

  8. My 2010 Fusion Hybrid interior door handle/latch cable either broke off inside the panel or it's a major design flaw issue for safety reasons. My wife called me in a panic when she could not open the door from inside. She has recently gone thru a double mastectomy from breast cancer and her first thought was to climb over to the passenger side to get out. I told her to roll down the window and open the door from the outside. She was unaware of such a way to do so being scared, so here is my issue: What if my wife, or anyone for that matter, was in a wreck and the car caught on fire and she/they were unable to get out of the car quickly and safely? The power could be cut off and the window won't roll down, and the door won't open? My suggestion is to carry a heavy tool or hammer in the car near the front seat to escape!
