  1. November 7/23, I changed the oil with full synthetic 5w20 and OEM filter as I always do. this car is excessively maintained. Since the first start up after the OC, this aggressive ticking started and I don’t know what it could be. IMG_6798.MOV
  2. Hey everyone, I am new to this forum stuff but I figured I'd message you all and see what you know... My 2013 Ford Fusion 1.6L ecoboost is making a ticking/knocking noise at idle. You can really hear it while at a complete stop and in gear. In park you hear it as well but not as loud.. SAYING THAT, the noise is easily heard more inside of the vehicle than outside. I made a video and posted on YouTube for you all to see... any ideas??? Any help is appreciated. WATCH THE VIDEO!!
  3. I've posted in the past couple months about my on going saga to seek and destroy the ticking noise coming from my upper valvetrain which started at about 14K, I'm now at 28k at it's still there! I initially took it in to the dealer at about 19k and they told me there is an acceptable amount of mechanical noise to be expected. I told them this is my third I-4 cylinder fusion and I have a pretty in depth knowledge of these particular vehicles; such as the bad blower bearing which ford has yet to change that supplier obviously as mine is already starting to squeak in my 2011 fusion. There are no oil level issues, I'm using MotorCraft parts and oil. The noise was first noticable when I started my vehicle then it subsided, that is not the case now. It's always there now taunting me to diagnose it. The motor sounds like a small diesel which is tired and old already. Now some other posts were talking about there ticking being attributed to the fuel injectors? How is that, when a noise is usually mechanical? Are today's injector's mechanical? Others have also told me that it might be the silent chain tensioner. Anyone ever heard of that being the cause of a tick in the upper valvetrain? I have one on my snowmobile and have had to tighten it before but it wasn't becasue it made a ticking noise. Looking for any help here before I have to go back to dealer yet again.
  4. Hi guys, new to the forums and new owner of a year old 2013 Fusion SE 2.0. Car has 22000 Kms on it. Car runs great shifts great, no power shortage or anything. I only have one little worry with the car. When I put it in reverse, I hear a mechanical click and the car bumps just a little. If I go from reverse back do Drive, same noise happens. Now I had the car into Ford and they said it was normal operation of the vehicle. Then I asked a co worker who is very good with cars. He is also telling me this is normal. Now, I've only ever driven this fusion. Never tested others. Is this single click noise anything to even worry about? Is it normal operation of the vehicle? You 2.0 owners, do you get this as well? Some feedback would be greatly appreciated as I want to drive my car and not worry the whole time. Thanks!

    Engine Tick

I have a 2007 2.3L I4 that I bought almost 2 years ago. When I bought it, I noticed a quiet ticking noise. It has never caused any problems but lately, it has been getting worse and is making me worry. I usually notice it for a few seconds on a cold startup. Then when I am cruising at a constant speed (usually around 2500 to 3000 RPMS) I can hear it. And it gets pretty loud when I am accelerating hard (especially past 3000 RPMS). Anyone know what is causing it? Someone told me it might just be a solenoid in the accelerator but I'm starting to think its something in the engine. Thanks
  6. I purchased a brand new 2012 Ford Fusion V6 3.0L, on January 7th 2012. In the first 30 days, My engine starts ticking once it warms up, the radiator fan squeels when you turn off the engine and the back passenger window would take a long time to roll back up. I took it into the local Ford dealership and they told me I needed a new radiator fan, a new motor for the power window and that the factory installed the wrong lifters in my engine and they would need to replace them. (They called Ford Technical Advisors) I was a little concerned with the assessment but told them to go ahead and fix the issues. The gave me a courtesy rental for the day since they had to order parts. The next day I received a call from the service advisor telling me that after they installed the new lifters and ran a diagnostics test on the engine that it failed and they also noticed metal shavings in the oil pan and that I needed a new engine! He also informed me to bring back the rental car since Ford warranty doesn't cover the rental. I returned the vehicle that night after getting off of work and noticed my car out in the parking lot. I decided to get my personal belongings out of the car and noticed that my brand new car smelled like gas and oil! Since this all happened on a Friday evening I could not call Ford Corporate until today. This is where the fun begins! Ford agreed to replace the engine and perform a detailed cleaning but they wanted to use my extended service contract to pay for the rental car!!! First of all, your factory installed the wrong lifters which destroyed the engine and now you want to use my 3rd party extended warranty to pay for a rental car? Do you know the meaning of customer service? I'm wondering how many other engines are out there with the wrong lifters installed? Potential buyers - If you hear a ticking sound after the car warms up, do not buy the car! If you already bought it, Take it to the dealership and demand a new engine! Also, you have to live with the vehicle you purchased (Lemon or not) because FORD will not give you another vehicle no matter how severe the issue is. I no longer have a new vehicle and the car is 40 days old and has 1100 miles on it.
