  1. 2018 Fusion. My trunk sometimes, but not always opens when I unlock the door. So far in 2,000 miles it's done it over 40 times. I watch to make sure to only use the 5 digit code on the door B pillar keypad. I took it to the dealer, they told me they couldn't get it to do it. I then asked the service advisor what was the "correct" way to light up the keypad if it is dark and you can't see the numbers, he said to sweep your hand up and then down over the keypad, when it lights up, enter the 5 digits. It seems to have about a 2-3 second delay, enough when it's raining that you have to stand outside getting wet, waiting to see if the trunk is going to open. When it first happened, I would be sitting in the car by the time the trunk opened....then would have to get back out to close it. I've tried lots of different combinations of fob, keypad, sweep, no sweep only 5 digit...nothing seems to make a difference, it just sometimes opens the trunk and every once in awhile it will do it twice in a row. I've asked other owners, nobody seems to have this issue. I see this issue has come up with Fusions in the past, but not too often. Has anyone else experienced this? Suggestions or ideas on how to correct/troubleshoot and/or make it do it every time?
  2. Hi I’m new to this forum but I have a 2012 Ford Fusion SE that has multiple water leaks. The first is a leak on either side of the trunk where the jack trays are I’ve noticed that when it rains water collects in these areas. I’ve sealed some of the parts where the clips go through with silicone and it seems to have helped just wondering if this is a common issue on these cars. Also I’m waiting on a new sunroof as the seal has a gap and rusted the frame; I used some silicone on that as well to keep most water out until I can replace it (hard to get replacement with virus right now). The headliner only gets wet on the drivers side corner, however driving home today water started dripping out of the sunglass holder but the headliner in the middle is perfectly dry... would that be part of the sunroof issue? Or a possible issue with the windshield seal? The drains are also working by the way. Sorry for the long post I’m just hoping I can get this figured out any help is appreciated. Thanks
  3. On the trunk by the license plate area does everyone have marks were it looks like a seem or body weld on from the inside. On my car they are on both sides of license plate and there are two distinct sets that are identical on both sides. What are they and are they suposed to be there. Take a look on yours? It showes up on black bad.
  4. Hey everyone, I installed an aftermarket Spoiler on my 2015 Ford Fusion SE Lux for appearance and the trunk no longer springs open because of the added weight. I had installed a lip spoiler on former 2007 Camry (former car) and I had the same issue but since the spring mechanism was not covered up, I used bungee cords which made my trunk open all the way up without a problem. I loved this featured on the Camry because it made it easy to load groceries without having to put anything down to open the trunk. I tried taking the liner off the inside of the trunk next to the arms but wasn't able to. Has anyone ever done this before? Anyone have any ideas or suggestions? Thanks!
  5. I've noticed for a while that the roof and trunk had a less-deep gloss to the Ruby Red paint than the hood, all horizontal surfaces. So yesterday I polished all three the same way - Wolfgang products, clay bar w/lubricant, polish enhancer, sealant - all hand done. The result is the same; the roof and trunk have a less-deep gloss than the hood. The rood and trunk both appear a bit "cloudy" compared to the hood. Also, I noticed when wiping off the residue from using the clay bar that the towel was a bit red when used on the roof and trunk. I did the hood first and don't recall noticing any red from that. Why would there be red on the towel if there was a clear coat over the red paint? Has anyone else noticed a similar thing?
  6. The rear bumper on my 2010 Fusion is sagging about 1/4" compared to other fusions. Is there any way this could be fixed?
  7. I have a '07 Fusion S. I recently swapped trunks (from a '07 SE). Now the only way to get the dome light to go out is to leave the trunk open. If I close the trunk and drive, the dome light doesn't shut off until I go over 8mph. Basically the indicator is reversed. The wires are in a harness and just snap together. I didn't want to start resplicing wires if it was merely an issue of resetting the computer somehow. Has anyone encountered this? Any ideas?
  8. I was looking in the trunk of my 2012 Sport with 402A and noticed there are vent-like slots cut in the carpet directly behind the tail lights. I stuck my fingers into one just to see if these were speakers of some sort (wasn't expecting them to be) and found un-loomed, unrestrained thin wires in there. This was a single pair as best I can tell, about 18g. Anyone know what the heck they're for?
