Hybrid10 Posted April 9, 2018 Share Posted April 9, 2018 I keep debating whether I should upgrade to a newer Fusion Hybrid and sell mine I have a friend that really wants to buy it. I currently have a 2010 Fusion Hybrid with 194k miles on it. runs strong and everything works on it but I depend on my car lot. I commute 105 miles daily for work and take it on long vacations few times a year. I'm currently looking at 2014-2017 titanium models. One with around 50k or less miles. Clusterliver1 Posted April 9, 2018 Share Posted April 9, 2018 Your experience with high mileage inspires me! I bought a '15 SE Hybrid in December of '15 and now have 36K satisfying (s)miles on it. It is a truly great car in every respect and I hope to run it to 200K but I'll likely be gone before that. By all means try out the newer model. I first looked at a '14 but found that the passenger seat was extremely low and unpowered. The '15 has a fully powered passenger seat and that's very important to us. Speed sensing cruise control is fantastic on the highway and I think the '16 and later will bring you to a complete stop where my '15 disconnects about 15 mph. The BLIS system is a great safety feature and my wife thinks that alone was worth buying the car. Don't be afraid of the SE model as they can come with nearly all the features of the Titanium except some of the exterior trim. There are some very good buys out there. It would definitely be an upgrade for me because I have the base 2010 hybrid with no navigation or blis system. I have seen some online with so many options on the SE like the titanium and you're correct about that I'll definitely go test drive one this weekend. Im curious how it drives compared to mine since i have a 2.5 and newer ones have the 2.0 engine. I usually average around a bit over 600 miles on a tank with this hybrid I know the newer ones I would get less cuz it's a smaller tank hopefully 500 I can get per fill up. Clusterliver1 Posted April 9, 2018 Share Posted April 9, 2018 (edited) Yup, you’ll fill up more often for sure. Until the end of January, my overall mpg was 44.5. A trip to Florida with two electric bikes on the back of a fully loaded car acted like a huge brake and dropped that average to 43+ according to the onboard display. Some tanks were in the low 30’s due to speeding along at 70-80 mph. I’ve not driven a 2.5 engine but I’ve not found this engine to be unresponsive as I can merge without a problem and pass whenever I want. It’s no V-8, but it’s fine. Our previous car was a Fusion V-6 SEL AWD and the hybrid has not been disappointing. My Fuelly.com records show that in the warm weather months here I’ll get 495-525 miles to a tank. I try to keep highways speeds under 65 and I’m pretty careful about starting and stopping. The Coach feature has really taught me to drive more economically. Don't consider a 2014 unless it has had the transmission replaced or repaired. 2015+ are probably OK. Hybrid10 Posted April 10, 2018 Author Share Posted April 10, 2018 That's good information I had a feeling I could probably get about 500 in a tank in the warm months of the year. My work commute is mostly 55 to 60 mile-per-hour highways with back roads. Yeah usually more cargo and weight will reduce miles per gallon a bit depending the terrain also and weather conditions. I'm pretty excited test drive one this weekend. I'm kind of thinking about test driving an EcoBoost all wheel drive fusion also around those years too. Since I went to the snow this past weekend and I almost crashed my hybrid and I had cables on even though you're not supposed to put them on these cars. It was scary i kept sliding all over the road. I used to have a 2012 that had blis and cta my 2010 my model does not have that. lolder Posted April 10, 2018 Share Posted April 10, 2018 To my knowledge all the 2010-12 Ford-Lincoln-Mercury sedan hybrids had BLIS ( Blind Spot Information System ) and CTA ( Cross Traffic Advisory ). drolds1 Posted April 10, 2018 Share Posted April 10, 2018 (edited) According to the 2010 Ford Fusion brochure, BLIS and CTA were optional as part of the Rapid Spec 501A Package (Moon & Tune Package + Diver's Vision Package). I think it's safe to say that if the car doesn't have a moonroof, then it won't have BLIS/CTA either. The 501A Package is listed as an available option package in the brochure for the 2010MY Hybrid. Standard equipment is listed as SEL equipment + Rapid Spec Package 500A. 'Driver's Vision' was optional on the SEL as well. The way I read this is that the package including Driver's Vision was optional on the Hybrid. As I recall in 2009 when I got my car only the 501 and 502 packages were available. I remember because I didn't want a moon roof and it wasn't available without it then.
