TinaPa8462
Hey everyone! I have an unusual issue and before I go and spend even more money to try and figure it out, figured I would ask here. I have a 2015 Ford Fusion Titanium. A few months ago a continuous knocking noise started when I was driving. The only way I can find to explain it is the wheel of fortune wheel spinning noise. The faster I go, it drones out a bit, the slower I go, the more pronounced the knocks are. A good friend of mine is a mechanic and has looked at it. It’s coming from the rear passenger side. We have changed the rims, tires, breaks and bearings. We have also balanced and aligned. Nothing has worked. Today I noticed when driving that when I was turning the wheel to the right, it was the loudest and was very pronounced. When I was driving with the wheel straight, it was quieter and not as pronounced and when the wheel was turned to the left, the noise was non-existent. Anyone have any ideas? Here’s the link with the video where you can hear the knocking. https://imgur.com/a/iuoKpAP
FXT
considering you have been dealing with the passenger side with the symptoms being exaggerated when turning to the right I would actually look at drivers side rear instead. see when the car is turning to the right all the weight transfers to the left side of the vehicle causing, say, more load on the bearing. Straight moderate and turning left the weight load is less. If the sound is drowning out the faster you go, is most probably because the frequency of the "knocks" are higher among other sounds being added to combine in it becoming less noticeable. In my experience sounds from failed bearings travel far and wide through components and framework. I would be looking to the other side.
TinaPa8462
Thank you @FXT! I’m just seeing this as everything was going to my spam. Changed the driver rear bearing and that was the problem!
