hoov99
is there an easy way of removing the high mount brake lamp housing from the package tray? im getting a spoiler installed and it has the brake lamp on it and i dont want the original in the rear window. and i think maybe the auto dimming rear view mirror will work better with that thing gone. thanks for any advice
DJE
The rear deck brake light comes out pretty easy. Unplug it from inside the trunk. Then, from inside get your fingers under the front of it, pull up and back carefully. You might have to wiggle it a little. Then, you might want to find a rear deck for a Fusion with the factory spoiler and the same sound system you have ie: speaker covers. Installing that might involve removing seat backs etc. I don't know. Haven't done that. I doubt this will have any effect on the auto-dim mirror.
hoov99
thank you desert fusion for that advice. i did exactly like you said and it came out easily. i drove the fusion for the first time at night without the housing and it did help with the rearview mirror. it actually dims now and i dont have to turn it up from being blinded!!
DJE
Wow! I'm surprised it made a difference. I have tinted windows so I've never seen my mirror dim. Edited March 2, 2010 by Desert Fusion
