Howie411
Went to the Car Wash today, and when I got in my car after they had finished drying it, it said Service AdvanceTrac on the dash and the car with the lines was lit up. I drove out of the parking lot, turned off the car and turned it back on and the message was gone. Any ideas? Just a fluke? Something got wet that shouldn't have?
lolder
The car wash drag rollers can cause that system to activate. I don't think you have a problem.

jay2000
I had this warning Saturday. I am not sure what set it. It may have been a hard turn I made, that could have set in motion the Electronic Stability Control. Not sure. Turning the car off and on was no help. A call to the dealer service department was no help. ( My biggest concern was how safe is it to drive???) I left the car off for a few minutes, and the error did not clear. I finally decided to go ahead and drive, at least a little, after all, it was a 3 day weekend and I was not going to be without my new car! About a mile down the road, the error light went off and stayed off. Jerry
drolds1
Jerry, if the warning went off and stays off, there's no need for concern. You also don't need worry about it being unsafe to drive with the message on. You won't harm anything. However, Advancetrac will be inoperative. If it happens with any frequency, take it in for service. A trouble code should be stored for diagnostic purposes.
xmech2k
I've bumped a curb twice and that happened. I just turned it back on with the button.

Same thing happened to me just last week. I tried to submit a Vehicle Health Report before the error disappeared. I was also in a carwash with an underbody wash. I guess it's no big deal, since the error did not stay on.

The ABS sensors don't like moisture and advancetrac uses the ABS sensors.
deloosionall
Same thing happened to me yesterday. I made a hard U-Turn and I guess it didn't like that. It's a brand new 2012 Fusion which I have only had for about a month....I got worried getting a service light when my car is only a month old with less than 2000 miles on it. I turned the car off and on hoping it would go off....but it didn't. So I continued with my day (worrying the whole time) about an hour later or so I got back in my car and started it and the light was still on...however a few miles down the road it went off. I hope this isn't a sign of things to come though. Although I must admit it's probably my fault for making that hard U-Turn.
Oman
All the traction control systems use sensors on each wheel. The sensors report high resolution rotation information. Car washes will often temporarily cause the sensors to give odd readings. If the system gets a few odd readings it will give the warning and disable the system until it gets enough good readings to turn the system back on. Usually U turns won't cause the system to disable unless one of the wheels slips. A hard turn should not cause the system to disable, that is an indication that one of the sensors might be misaligned. If it keeps happening you should have it checked. The point of the system is to accurately measure wheel speed under unusual situations so that it can help control the vehicle. Jon Same thing happened to me yesterday. gbdiaz
I have a 2011 Fusion Hybrid and have been very happy with it up to this point. On Thursday, 26 June I was on my 34 mile commute home when an alarm chime sounded and both the "Advance Trac Off" light and the car with the curved lines light illuminated. At the same time, the engine turned off. I was on I-66 at the time, so this was a pretty significant event. However, I managed to coast to the side of the road and the car started again without difficulty, but the "Service Advance Trac" light was illuminated. I took the car to the shop, but they couldn't find anything and no error codes had been stored by the computer. By this time, all warning lights had gone off, so I continued to drive the car. Last night, 4 Jul, I was again driving on I-66 when the warning lights came on a second time. Once more, I had to restart the engine and drove home without problem, though the warning lights stayed on. The warning lights were off this morning, but I took the car back to the shop to see if they could find anything. They still couldn't find anything, so I took the car home. An hour later, the warning lights came on again. I have since turned the Advance Trac system off hoping that will help. What else should I do. There must be a fix. In all three of my episodes the weather was good and I haven't been to a car wash recently. Help, I'm loosing confidence in my car.
lolder
What shop did you take it to? Have you looked for any DTCs in the "Engineering Test Mode ( ETM )"? To enter ETM, hold RESET and SETUP buttons for 5 seconds while turning car on. Cycle through 10 pages of data with the RESET button to reach the DTC page. There should be a code.
